Peggy and Mary Skinner open Skinner Montessori with 11 students, providing AMI Montessori education for children between the ages of 2−½ and 6, at the historic Evergreen Academy building in downtown Vancouver.
1978
Skinner commits to opening an AMI Elementary Montessori program. Mary Skinner spends the year back in Washington DC to be elementary certified by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

Peggy and Mary Skinner hire Molly Lucas, a high school French teacher to explore the possibility of teaching French phonetically to Skinner students.

Skinner’s elementary Montessori program opens its doors.

The future Skinner home is purchased near the Westfield Shoppingtown Center (a.k.a. the Vancouver Mall). Peggy Eubank Skinner and one of the school’s favorite student parents, John Wilt, found the property after searching for over a year.
1980
Molly Miller, a student in Nikki’s class wins the international competition for Italic Handwriting, sponsored by th
