As I was moving down to the last hour the movers disconnected my washer dryer broke the pipe they did not know how to turn off the water flooded my house I ended up paying the $ 500 deductible and the insurance company went after Seaport and they were in cahoots so I was out $ 500 for their mistake nobody will help me disabled senior aged woman do not trust this moving outfit they do not know what they’re doing. I paid them over $ 5,000 to move less than a 1200 square foot home 200 miles away. You think they would come through for an old lady nope just took advantage of an old lady and stuck my rest of my stuff in the garage and said see you later we gotta go.

Long distance moving is tough. It’s a pain, so I bet getting a good review is tough too. Having never done an interstate move before I was very worried about how well my things would fare during the transport.
My husband made the preliminary arrangements with Brittany. She did a good job and was very helpful all the way through the process. My husband did, however, underestimate the amount of stuff I had so the bid was a little low.
On moving day a team of 3 came to my house in the afternoon after finishing with another move in the morning. They saw the job was bigger than expected but worked quickly without complaint to get it done. I had 2 antiques they wrapped quite well to ensure they arrived in one piece. Most impressively they wrapped all of my precious artwork before transport in bubble wrap and cardboard. I told them how important my art was to me.
Delivery came a few days late but we weren’t on a strict timeline so it didn’t matter. We also received a small discount for the delay. The driver and guys that unloaded also did a great job. They were fast and courteous. All the boxes were numbered with stickers, so it was easy to track all of the boxes. A few of the stickers fell off though because they didn’t stick well to the boxes. I still got every one of my boxes.
Unpacking was like Christmas! All of my precious things including my fragile items, antiques and paintings arrived safely. They even had rewrapped my paintings in extra sturdy boxes. I had one piece of glass in a small picture frame crack (I didn’t wrap it) and one large outdoor pot broke. Everything else arrived just fine.
I just finished unpacking everything yesterday and were all moved in. Thank you to the entire team at Seaport for making our move as easy as possible and for getting our things here safely.

Our experience with SeaPort Moving was exactly what I’d expect from a moving company: disorganized, frustrating, and slower than expected. But… in the end, all of our stuff arrived at our new place, and Windy in their office was a pleasure to deal with every step of the way.

The background:
We needed to move from Seattle to Portland for work so we got three bids from three different companies and, while SeaPort’s bid wasn’t the lowest, they claimed to specialize in moves between the two cities (hence their name) so we chose them. Also, of the different companies we spoke with, Windy was the friendliest and the best communicator, which I really appreciated.

Where things started to go wrong:
We were told that a crew would arrive on a Sunday to pack us up, and they would return the following morning to load the truck for the drive to Portland. They agreed to do this because we have pets and we wanted to sleep in our home overnight rather than needing to find a hotel for us and our animals. Well, they arrived about two hours late on Sunday morning (not a big deal) and the crew leader told us that they would be packing us up and putting all of our stuff in a warehouse overnight, which isn’t what we were promised. Again, we weren’t happy, but we rolled with it. I pulled out the inflatable mattress and a couple of pillows and we slept on our floor that night in our empty house. Not ideal, but we survived it.

The crew leader also told us that a different crew (from their sister company, Jordan River) would be driving our truck to Portland at 7:00 or 7:30 the following morning, so we woke up at 5:30am (which wasn’t difficult because we were sleeping on the floor) and drove to Portland so we could meet up with our new landlord to get the keys, etc., before the truck arrived mid-​morning.

Where things got really frustrating:
At 10:00 or 10:30 on Monday morning, I called the office to find out when the truck would be arriving and was told that they couldn’t reach the driver by phone, but their GPS system indicated that he was about half-​way to Portland. Again, not a big deal, but we were really tired and had been sitting in our empty apartment since 8:30 that morning after driving from Seattle. After several more calls, I finally heard from the driver himself at 12:30ish who said he was in Vancouver, WA, and should be arriving soon. After another hour or so, I called the driver back and asked (not very politely, I’ll admit) why it was taking them so long to drive 7 miles. He then explained that they were «trying to find a crew» in Vancouver to unload our stuff, which is why it was taking so long. And that’s when I lost it.

Now…keep in mind that we made our arrangements several weeks in advance and upheld our end of the bargain. I have no idea why they didn’t have a crew scheduled to unload us in Portland, and — more importantly — I don’t know why it took them almost 34 hours to move us 175 miles.
In the end, the crew got the job done around 7:00pm on Monday. I’ve never been so happy to see someone leave.
I also want to mention that we had a couple of small gouges in two pieces of our wood furniture and a tear in our sofa, which I know weren’t there before the move, but I didn’t mention these things to anyone in the office because I had a feeling the process would be difficult and the reimbusement would be minimal. (One of the guys on their crew ageed that it would probably be more trouble than it was worth.)

The bottom line:
It seems there was some serious miscommunication between SeaPort and their sister company (Jordan River) in our case, which is surprising because we can’t be the first interstate move that involved both companies. The only thing that helped us get through it was Windy in their office. The company is lucky to have her, and she must have nerves of steel if this was a typical move for them!

Do not use this company under any circumstances.
What you need to know is that Seaport doesn’t actually move your stuff. They outsource to people who will pick up your things, then a driver who drives your it, and hire people at an abysmal hourly rate at the far end who unload.
None of these people have ANY INCENTIVE to be careful with your property. The ones who picked up our things did not bother to label ANY of the boxes. They did not even keep hardware with the furniture they disassembled. They just threw everything into boxes as fast as they could, probably because they were paid a flat rate.
Furniture was damaged. Our bikes were compressed at the bottom of the pile and will never be the same again. I know where our TV is, but have no idea where to find the cords, the remote, the VCR. There was no rhyme or reason, no order, to how they moved us. They don’t care if you can actually use your things again.
At the other end of our move (from Portland to Tucson), the people who were hired to unload the truck were stiffed by the driver, which understandably made them very angry. The result is that our furniture was never reassembled. Does Seaport care? Here’s how you know the answer: they demand a cashiers check at the end, so you can’t challenge the charge if you’re not happy with the service.
Don’t let your property and your life be treated shabbily by this company.

Geeeez. So, I really thought I did my research, but it was just a bad deal all around. Lets start from the top, shall we?
Calling for quotes:
This part was manageable. I initially spoke with Windy. At this point in time, I had narrowed it down to 4 different companies. It ended up coming down to price, so when I called the cheaper company, they mentioned they charged a fee to use a credit card that would have amounted to about $ 50, now making them more expensive than Seaport. I called Windy back, and asked her if they had a fee, and she said they did not. Boom, going with them on a price standpoint. (Mind you, I’m still spending $ 1700 here…) Please note that this quote included packing, moving, and storage for a month. This part is important later on.
Moving Day:
These guys were alright. I had a team of 3 guys come to do the move. Here’s the bad: First, I’ve moved about 10 times in recent years, and I have used many different companies to get me where I need to go. I also use the plastic storage totes for every move. They are durable, and stand up to being tossed around and bad weather. When they get there, I specifically request since they have the plastic wrap, to wrap them in plastic first, then tape. Just like that. This helps in case the box breaks, everything does stay together, and also helps in unwrapping because then I don’t have tape all over my boxes I use for storage. I’ve had some of these boxes for years and you would never know from the condition. The foreman then says, «Well let me show you how we do it,» and just winds the tape ALL around the box, doing the exact opposite of what I requested. I started to bristle, and I asked again to have them wrapped first, to which he said «But this is how we do it». I DON’T CARE. I am the one paying you all this money, please take care of this rather simple request I’ve never had another moving company argue with. Thankfully, my dad was helping me with this move and he finally put his foot down, and we got it done as requested. Moving on to the paperwork. The foreman gives me paperwork which includes a place for me to sign that I agree to a percentage fee for using my credit card. Are you freaking kidding me? No. I made him call the office, which thankfully they did have notes for to not charge me, but you would think something like that would have been passed on. Finally, the foremans job was to estimate how much weight I would be moving. My quote was for 2000 lbs, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going over. I had been assured many times by Windy that they were competent in their job, and were normally spot on, within about 300lbs. I can live with that. The foreman mentioned I should MAYBE hit 1500lbs. Excellent, we even tossed in a few extra things at this point. Well, low and behold when the quote comes thru, now I’m 40lbs over. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I went from ‘lucky to hit the weight’ to over it. Granted, it was only $ 25 and change of a charge, but that is ridiculous.
The drive down:
So, I am moving from Portland to Houston, and I get this call from Windy. (My originally scheduled move date had been for a Monday, but we were able to bump it up to either Thursday or Friday because they had a spot in the schedule.) When I filled out the paperwork, I still put the earliest delivery point as 10 days from the original day to leave. I get a call from Windy saying that because they moved me early, I would now have to pay $ 250 to put my stuff in storage since I still wanted it at the same later date. Hello? What about the included storage time? Shouldn’t that take care of it? Also, I only changed my date by 4 days, not 4 weeks. This shouldn’t be an issue! I just told her to do immediate delivery, and we would hightail it home. Windy said that she had never said anything of the sort, and that I should have always known that putting it in storage for this fee was on the table. Grr.
The movers are here! Part 1
Fast forward a week. I get a call on Friday, the movers will be there Sun-​Tues. Excellent. Imagine my surprise when at 6pm Tues I get a call saying the truck broke down, we will have to be there next week, we are still in California. Didn’t that deserve an earlier call?
The movers are here! Part 2
For real this time. I get a call, we should be there on Monday night. Another call, we should be there Tuesday morning. Another call, we will be there Tuesday night. Make up your damn mind! They get there around dark, and we get everything unloaded. A bookcase was broken. I didn’t see 4 dining rooms chairs, but I was assured they were all there so I signed and went on my way. Don’t you know, I’m missing a dining room chair? As of this point, 1 week later, I still have not been able to locate my chair. I called and spoke to Erica who was unaware of this, even though the driver said he would call. This will be updated accordingly.
TL;DR — Find another company. I was sorely disappointed.

Let me start by the things Seaport Moving & Storage broke or, «lost,» as result of our move:
— 46″ Sony Bravia LCD ($ 2700), shattered TV, broke all along the edges
— Coffee table, bottom broken completely off
— Stainless Steel BBQ, lid completely busted off
— 110″ theater screen, «lost»
— Full box of dishes and glasses, delivery in a smashed box
— Antique coca-​cola picture, dropped and broke glass
— Dining room bench, leg broken off
I lived in Portland, OR and requested a move to southern California. My stuff arrived to California in shambles.
I will keep this review brief, AVOID this moving company. Once they get your money you never hear from them again!
They had many many many opportunities to resolve this issue. The communication stopped once they left my residence.
I am a social marketing director as a profession, I will be sure that my story will be shared. I will be paying for web space, and directing my free time to help drive this story of terrible business practices through all social channels.

Windy with Seaport Moving & Storage provided excellent service in helping me and my grandma coordinate my move from Portland to San Francisco. I had a very complicated moving situation with many questions and Windy did a great job in explaining to me how everything was going to work out. She was quick to reply back if she did not know the answer to a question and provided a thorough explanation on how the move was going to work logistically and cost wise.
The only reason I am not giving five stars is because a few of my boxes were damaged to being wet. One of the boxes was very thick and water ate way a hole through it. Although, it was raining heavy outside during moving day and days after. I think the box on top of it may have been left in a puddle or something… however, not that big of a deal.
All in all, I would highly recommend Seaport Moving and Storage as they are quick and efficient in wrapping/​packing and transporting. They took a large stress out of my move and provided a top quality & professional service!

This company may be great for a small move, but not one from one coast to the other. We left from Oregon to VIrginia. We didn’t have a definite address at the time we scheduled the move, but let the moving company know we had an appointment with a property manager the day we were arriving in town, so we would have one in a couple days. We actually signed a lease and got a place the day we got into town, but upon calling the company to deliver, they informed us our things were still in Oregon, as that was their only warehouse (not disclosed to us).
Regarding the actual cost, it was WAY off from the estimate. We went through a thorough inventory with them, and the quote they gave us was 1,200 pounds less than the actual, and added $ 1,000 to our total, including the warehouse fee. We actually left behind some things we had included on the inventory.
In researching companies, there was another who gave a quote $ 200 more than SeaPort and allowed another 1,500 pounds. Would have cost us $ 200 instead of $ 1,000. And our things would have been here sooner, as they had storage here.
If you’re looking for a small local company to move a studio apartment across town, go for it. But unless you’re loaded or your job’s paying relocation expenses, steer clear.

Windy was exceptional. She was very caring and helpful. The conversation regarding their policies and reservation went smoothly.
The move itself was very long totaling up to 7 hours (we had a lot of stuff to move). The rate per hour was among the highest so I expected exceptional work. While I would say the movers were punctual, fast and efficient in the move there were few gripes that I had.
First was the walls and handrail at the old house. There were several scuff, scratches and dents. This was reported to the movers after the move was complete and they came back the following Monday to fix it. However, the repair was a bit disappointing. The dent on the walls were repaired with one of those texture sprays and even after we painted the right color over it, it was obvious that there were damages before (different texture and slightly elevated). It would have been nice to see them lay some covers over the rails and/​or the sides of the big items that need to be moved to minimize the damage.
Another gripe that I had was with one of the movers. While they were really good at what they did and wasted little time, one of them was rude and not professional in manner. An example was where the mover basically told me to hurry up a few times while I was carrying something. And though I understand and appreciate his sense of urgency to get things moving, it’s another thing to be disrespectful. There were also numerous occasions where the same mover expressed dissatisfaction. I wouldn’t normally point this out, but it stood out to me. The other two movers were great and I didn’t have problems with either of them.
At the moment, per my request, there is a claim form in the mail because of a recent discovery of a crack on one of the televisions. Windy told me that there was a chance that they wouldn’t be able to cover it due to us not reporting it right at the end of the move (it was a little difficult to check everything amidst the chaos during the first night.) Thankfully, she spoke to the owner and he was kind enough and agreed to send out a claims form for us to fill out. I may give an update depending on how everything goes.
