Pillar To Post

Do NOT use this company. My family was moving from Florida and paid for the most expensive inspection because we wanted to make sure our house was in good order before purchasing it. We even paid for a mold and radon inspection… well, we have had ALL kinds of issues with the house after purchase that should have been found and told to us by Pillar to Post. Now we may have black mold, too! I am disgusted at the money that we dished out to this company and the subpar work they did. It takes a lot for me to complain about a company, but I would hate for anyone else to be taken by this company and get a house they think is in good conditions and realize it is a money pit.

Very thorough inspection! I felt that Pillar to Post did an excellent job disclosing everything about the property. The inspector took his time explaining questions I had about the inspection. They were very professional and courteous during the entire inspection. I had a few additional questions the next day that I e-​mailed to the inspector, and he quickly called me back. I would recommend your service to everyone. Great company!

I could have give a 5-​star after they came in. We were about to buy our very first house with a very limited budget so it was important for us that inspection was correctly done. He was very friendly, explained us everything, the house didn’t have much issues, so we were more than happy and decided to move forward and purchase the house since we trusted what he told us.
Home purchased, we had to redo one of our siding, when everything was wide open our contractor asked us if we knew there were no insulation on more than half of our home… and of course we didn’t know… but well that happened so we didn’t say anything.
A few weeks after I realized that water was too warm in the house so I decided to go to our water heater and change the temperature. We have an electronic water heater, and it was not working… I could not push on any button, it was really weird and obviously not working for a while. I emailed them to know why he never told us because we could have asked the owners to fix it, but no answer to my email (apparently our email got lost…)
Then right before winter we decided to get our chimney cleaned to get ready for the winter! The contractor came and asked us if we were aware that the inside had collapsed, he showed us because it was something obvious from the inside of the house, we were very very surprise and pretty upset because we knew that there were an issue with the damper that was not working (the inspector said the handle was missing so we could not open it, and the chimney guy told us that it was wide open and could not close because of the all thing that had collapsed… there are a difference between open and closed…). I emailed them, they bring it back to the damper issue and that they are not controlling the inside of the chimney and when I explained them that it was something we could see from outside and that we saw it too when a professional explained us they just ignored us. Since we didn’t have any answer our realtor called them too (kind of bad for her to recommend something that do a bad job… so she was not really happy…) and they just ignored what we explained them and told about the damper again and try to lie about all that. Now we have the choice of redoing the entire fireplace, or never use it. Fireplace was one of the things to have in a first house for me, and that’s something that will never happen.
I would really not recommend them, they would have accept all their mistakes and try to do something (like refunding their visit that were kind of useless at the end…) I would have still give a good review, but I don’t think that ignoring customers and lying to them is a thing to do when you make huge mistakes. We were not buying a $ 100 house, it’s a big commitment for anybody and those kind of surprises are not really welcome.

If I could do a minus star I would. I’m a realtor, have been for 20 years. My home inspector had retired and I was left looking for a new company. I called 20 of my realtor friends and pillar to post was the name that came up the most. So I referred my first time buyers to them. We had a really hard time finding a home in their price range that was listed and hadn’t already gotten 20 offers. I ended up finding one for sale by owner. Pillar to Post came out, he seemed to do a good jobb while out there he went over the items the house offered.
During the course of the inspection the inspector told the buyer and myself that the house had great Trane furnace that the buyers would be warm abd toasty in the winter and nice and cool in the summer!
So the house closed, I went to take my buyer their house warming gift. It’s 90 degrees out and the new home owner asks me if I can help her adjust her AC IT’S not cooling??? I go in and try… nothing happens! So I call the seller and ask how to do it he says NO AC! The home inspector told us the house had A.C. due to the unusual circumstances of it being a For Sale By Owner we relied heavily on the home inspector for the devices on site. I called pillar to post to see what they had to say. The home inspector of course denied EVER saying anything about AC. My buyer had a friend who also had recently bought a home who had used pillar to post, their house really did have AC, the two buyers compared their reports and they were EXACTLY the same! I called pillar to post again and suggested that the bad press they would get from this was surely worth refunding a portion if not all their fee for providing faulty information. The inspector said he would check with the owner and get back to me. It’s been 3 weeks with no further response. My advice is to NEVER USE THIS COMPANY, they don’t care for their clients, they provide faulty information, and when they do make a mistake instead of trying to redeem themselves they ignore the buyer. Bad business! Bad!

We just had Jeff inspect a house we’re going to buy this morning (the basic package). He is very professional, knowledgeable and patient with all the questions we had. Most important thing is he brought his printer with him and printed out a physical copy of our report and went through item by item with us. The report has both picture and text description. He pointed out very detail information for us and gave out honesty advice. To be honesty my relator recommended him to me and I did saw some of the bad reviews before using him but I truly trust my realtor and picked him anyways and now I am very please I did. Well, I think if you shouldn’t use the inspector your relator recommends then you probably shouldn’t use the relator in the first place. Overall, highly recommend using pillar to post.

Pillar to Post recently inspected a 1932 home we are purchasing. Kevin was patient thorough, and clearly knows his stuff. He prepared a beautiful and detailed report on-​site. What was more impressive was the page by page walk-​through of the report he prepared. He was able to offer professional opinions based on experience, and was able to break down technical terms in layman’s need-​to-​know terms. He didn’t even flinch when I asked classic new homeowner questions: Can we tear out that wall? Can we vault the ceiling? Would it be expensive to add a swimming pool in the back yard?
In addition to the basic structures and systems inspection, we ordered a mold and radon report. Kevin gave great explanations of the sampling methods, and Carrie’s followup has been incredibly helpful regarding our high radon results.
Use Pillar to Post. These guys are pros: unbiased, experienced, honest, professional.

Unprofessional, rude, shady and not to be trusted. Go elsewhere for your home inspections. They tried to rip us off !

I’ve been flipping properties for 20 years and never had a poorer property inspection. I’ll skip the numerous errors and laziness by the inspector and focus on just one critical item. The electrical service to the house was illegal and unsafe. The inspector completely missed it. An electrician saw it and said if the power company saw it, they would have cut the power to the house. I had to pay to have the entire service at the meter re-​routed. So, he might have just not recognized the problem. But the garage had and still has plainly obvious wet rot to the fascia and exterior rafters that the only way to miss seeing it would be just not to look at it. I have already filed a complaint with the state authorities. I strongly advise you to find another company.

Pillar to Post is the reason why you don’t use the inspector your realtor recommends. We knew we were getting a fixer upper but hoped with the inspection we would see just how bad the house was. The issues we brought up the inspector was saying not a problem.
The problems around the kitchen light when asked he said it was just the light fixture. Turned out a week after we moved in the water started to come dripping out the light fixture. The one we were questioning about water issues that they said was not an issue.
Next we have a nice big crawl space that you can walk in. My husband and I unfortunately trusted the inspector going in there and we did not go in there and give it a full look around. But once again the inspector only said that we needed to fix the screens and nothing else was an issue. Well we had our ducts cleaned right before we moved in and in our laundry room while they were being cleaned we just had filthy water shooting out of the duct work. My husband and I went into the crawl space and stepping fully in right away we saw a big bow in the duct system. When we felt it it was full of water. Five gallons of water came pouring out of our ducts when we had to cut it open. Something that was completely obvious in our crawl space the inspector could not even find.
Forgot about compassion when we called to question everything they of course were trying to tell us these issues were after the inspection. The water had been fermenting a while in our ducts it was not something that happened over night. Nor the leaking plumbing for our upstairs shower. We just are not happy to see what next is going to happen. If we would have known about the issues and had a better inspector who would have found the obvious issues we would not have bought the house. They are the reason why we never believed in home inspectors. They are just there for the money and not the job they are being paid for.

I had another property inspected by Pillar to Post this was a rush inspection I had called them after their office hours to make an appointment and was happy to be able to get my property inspected right away.
The inspector was very through and I received the report immediately with a complete explanation of all problems, so there no surprises at the closing. I tell my business associates And friends that they can always depend on excellent service and courtesy from Pillar to Post inspectors.

As a Realtor I try to give suggestions to buyers about good home inspectors but in the end its ultimately their decision. Lately I have had Brian from Pillar to Post on a couple of inspections and I was impressed with his notebook full of items of value such as coupons for the new buyer, the detailed descriptions and summary pages of the inspection, and even a disc of home maintenance items he gave my buyer. I have watched many inspectors over the years and have had very few bad experiences but I must comment that this was very organized and I loved all the extra items of value they brought along. Thank you Brian.

A professionally dressed, kind man, came out to inspect our first home. We were naturally nervous but excited to see if the house we fell in love with was a-​okay!
Not only does he write a report, but he sat down and talked with us about his findings. He also compiled a notebook with photos from each area of the house, which made our concerns that needed to be fixed more documented.
We would recommend them to anyone who is inspecting a new home!

so i dont know much, but i know hard workers and good people and thats what my experience with pillar to post has been. i want to make a jingle for them, pillar to post, its just so fun to say! knowing what your getting into when you make the biggest financial purchase of your life is very. important. not sure how this story ends but i do know im a lot more educated than i was thank to the fine gentleman at this organization.
