Completed bachelors and masters degrees in horticulture, Worked for 10 years in agricultural extension service, 10 years for a flower seed company and 24 years teaching horticulture and Brigham Young University-Idaho. Allen has written garden columns for 40 years and publishes a monthly email gardening newsletter.
