Musical Beginnings is a family oriented school in Vancouver, WA offering musical instruction for all ages, as well as classes in drama and the arts and Kindermusik for kids. Our mission is to provide students of all ages with the skills needed to enjoy the arts for a lifetime.

Weekly music lessons with a private instructor are available in piano, voice, drums, violin, electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, cello and viola. No matter the style of music you want to learn, we are confident we can match you with a teacher who can meet your needs.

Drama classes are provided in a small group setting to develop skills such as working in a group, public speaking, confidence and creativity. Our drama students put on three productions each year.

In our group art classes students will experiment with colors, materials, textures and more. Our instructors mix classic art with modern methods, always emphasizing personal expression.

History

Established in 1997.

Musical Beginnings was founded in 1997 by Susan Ferrell with an original program offering of Kindermusik, a music program for young children. By 2002 Kindermusik had grown to over 120 students, moving to a larger space, and adding instruction in piano and voice lessons. We quickly outgrew this space and moved to our current space, remodeled with four classrooms. Over the years we have added instruction in guitar, bass, drama, arts and more. We now have over 350 students and more than 10 teachers.

Business Owner

Susan Ferrell founded Musical Beginnings in 1997. Growing up, Susan had an interest in music. She found her passion in arts education and pursued a business degree. Susan’s enjoys being able to serve the public at Musical Beginnings, where our mission is to provide students of all ages the skills needed to enjoy the arts for a lifetime.
