DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel

Very convenient to the airport without plane noise. Well decorated room, nice bed and pillows! The staff were helpful, pleasant, and the room was clean. Note: If you’re traveling for business and someone else makes and is supposed to pay for your reservation, they have a policy against taking credit cards by phone and stated they must have their authorization form completed and FAXED back to them in order to process payment by someone who isn’t standing in front of them. Of course it’s not that unusual in my experience to run into something like this so it’s not just thos hotel. And, Unfortunately, as in many airport area neighborhoods, there were some sketchy people hanging around. That’s really my reason for going with a 3 instead of a 4. I didn’t feel quite safe enough.

Great rooms, consistently fantastic staff. Always a pleasure staying here. A good value.

Can’t beat it for the price. This is my goto spot when I stay in Vancouver. Cheap, and clean. The rooms have a large desk and two tvs. Winning.

Awesome place. Absolutely no complaints. From the time we walked into the lobby, until the time we left we were treated with courtesy and respect. Loved the room. Beat our expectations. We will definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night. For the price, I expected much better. The hotel seemed old. The room was nothing special. The worst part was the shower– it was absolutely pathetic. It was noisy and super weak, like a trickle. The staff seemed nice.

I was shock to read a Double Tree did not have at least 3-​stars. I book this hotel anyway for 7 nights and was happy with my decision. I travel on average 2-​weeks a month with my job. This hotel was better than most out there. In addition I only stay at big name chain hotels so & 3-​stars +…
similar hotels all around the US to name a couple locations: Maryland, Honolulu, Portland, Denver, Maui, Los Angeles…
Upon arrival I had my eyes open due to the other reviews. from the parking lot GOOD, Staff greeting upon walking in GOOD, answer a couple of questions GOOD, Lobby clean & plenty of places to lounge and modern furniture GOOD, room larger than average single King GOOD, and hallway carpet clean and modern GOOD!
Room was equipped with a mini refrigerator and small Microwave with NO additional charge GOOD.

The most amazing feature in my room it has TWELVE double electrical outlets around room available for use (not counting the ones used by appliances). OMG
I would stay at this hotel again and highly recommend!!!
Another example;
When I arrived cookies were just out the oven. Front desk Rep thought too hot and offered to deliver to my room later… wow what service. I declined and informed her I would be back later. I totally forgot upon returning to the lobby area and a new front desk rep was told during her shift to keep and eye out for me when I return… a cookie wads due:-).

What a great place. Stay here every time I’m in Vancouver. Great value and great people. Typical Hilton Doubletree and I love it. Big rooms, bar, great TV.

I don’t have a lot to say besides this was a typical Doubletree Hotel experience. The place felt old. Breakfast was not included and overpriced. Staff was friendly but mildly inattentive. Stayed two nights but room key cards failed after first day… that was super frustrating.
For the price, this Hilton property is just alright. If the price were right, I’d stay here again but wouldn’t go out of my way to stay here again.

My boyfriend and I have two kids, full time jobs and full time lives, which made it impossible to plan anything significant on Valentine’s Day. We decided to plan a late celebration. We chose this hotel as our getaway destination for a relaxing weekend together. Unfortunately, our experience was far from relaxing.
First of all, we received the wrong room. We had reserved a king room for two nights, but we received an QUEEN room. We had already unpacked before realizing the bed was the wrong size and we had dinner plans, so we decided to stay in the room we received. The bed was incredibly firm and uncomfortable.
Our next complaint is that we were awoken in our queen bed, BOTH mornings, by housekeeping. Can’t they see on Saturday that we have an additional night? Or possibly see on Sunday that we will be checking out 4 hours later? Regardless, no one staying in a hotel room would rather be awoken for cleaning than sleep. On Sunday we were awoken by housekeeping actually being in the room. There must be some type of protocol in place to prevent this from happening. If we had checked in at 4 am, would housekeeping still be at the door by 8 am? I would certainly hope not.
Finally, the icing on this terrible cake… we left the hotel to find that someone had broken into our car. We were parked four spots from the front entrance. Maybe you require security if even your front entrance isn’t secure?!
I would like to mention that the staff is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the service we were paying for.

BUGS! How about calling an exterminator? The first night I noticed a large bug on the curtains in the room. The 2^nd night I got to my room there was a smaller bug on the end table next to the couch, so I smashed it with my shoe and didn’t want to touch it. The third night I get back to my room, and the bug that I smashed the night before is still dead on the end table. How does housekeeping miss this? Disgusting, I will never be back, I’ve stayed here multiple nights before.

This place is a freaking joke.
They used to be called Phoenix Inn and Suites, but they were purchased and supposedly renovated to become a DoubleTree. If you’d like to be reminded of the shitty renovation, please look at the Phoenix Inn & Suites name on the glass of the building side doors and all of the sub par and likely not up to code repairs in the guest rooms.
My BF and I arrive late as we had driven 6 hours to get there and go to check in and are greeted by a nice check in girl who hands us a cookie with nuts (wow thanks, glad I’m not allergic to nuts!) and room keys etc. However, when we went up to our room it wasn’t cleaned and looked like someone was still using the hotel room! There was towels and Lipton ice tea bottles, etc. everywhere. Scared that I was entering someone else’s room due to a mix up, I go downstairs and inform the check in clerk. She’s like oh good lord. I swear ever since the head of housekeeping has become pregnant nothing is getting done or its half ass. Wow, but as we saw when entering that extremely unclean room I can’t say much for housekeeping either.
We just start to fall asleep at 6am, and guess what happens at 6:45am? The fire alarm goes off and it is DEAFENING. We have stumble into clothes and grab our belongings quickly while trying to cover our ears and exit via the stairwell. Bad idea as the freaking stairs have construction materials and plastic covering the stairs in which I almost slipped and fell down them. Finally we make it outside and apparently the idiot they hired to bake the stupid cookies doesn’t know how to set a timer or use an oven as she burnt a couple. *sigh* So we head upstairs again and have to open the fire doors from inside the elevator because apparently no one in this hotel realizes that while the fire department reset the elevator and put it back in use that the fire doors were still closed.
After that drama, I wanted a soda so I grab some change and head to where the signs point to the ice and vending machine. However, when we arrive there is no vending machine. At this point I’m irritated, so I go downstairs as I remember seeing some soft drinks. They charge $ 2 freaking dollars for a CAN of Soda. A CAN! You got to be freaking kidding me. Desperate for some caffeine after the rude and incompetent awakening, I pay the $ 2 and then see that they charge tax on top of it. At this point I’m really hating this hotel, but wait it gets better.
Fast forward to 10am, I hear people yelling in the hallway. Aggravated as I’ve had maybe 2 – 3 hours sleep, I see the infamous pregnant head of housekeeping yelling to another housekeeping employee at the opposite end of the hallway. WTF? You got to be freaking kidding me. So I say can you please stop yelling to each other? Some of us are still trying to sleep after being woken up by the smoke alarm.
Go downstairs later in the morning where most hotels offer a continental breakfast or at least some kind of free coffee and I see that I can buy Starbucks coffee or pay $ 9 for breakfast. Oh ffs. Why did I book my stay here?
On top of those lousy occurrences, our key cards worked only 50% of the time and the room didn’t look safe. You could tell where there was some major water damage as the wall and ceiling looked warped and damaged and half ass painted over. The carpet was ripped and pulled up in the some areas, the smoke alarms are back from the 70s/​80s as they are discolored with cigarette smoke, the bathroom was a joke as you could see cracks around the tub and where they cheaply tried to update it and glue tile on top of more tile. The tub floor was dirty as if no one has bleached it recently. The toilet paper is so cheap and rough that I’d probably find a gas station that had better quality. The power outlets are cracked, the mirror was missing chunks of wood, the shitty heater was falling apart, there are chunks of wall missing, instead of properly putting up new wallpaper — all they did was add white caulking to try and seal the edges but even failed at that as the caulking wasn’t put on thick enough so it bled and didn’t create a seal.
Seriously don’t stay here. If you have to, book through
so you only have to pay maybe $ 60-​$ 70 bucks a night versus their $ 100 plus prices. Hopefully if you choose the three star hot rate hotel deal, you’ll get to stay at the Holiday Inn or Best Western Plus 15 minutes away as those hotels have great service and are clean!

Last minute schedule changes forced me to cancel a room reservation at my regular Hampton Inn in Portland for Tuesday night. A Hilton website search allowed me to discover this new Hilton property for Wednesday night that was originally a Phoenix Hotel which I am not familiar with. The price per night was higher than I like to pay however many Hilton properties have been charging higher rack rates as their available rooms decline. Portland has become prohibitive to stay at Hilton properties and I am beginning to question my loyalties to the Hilton program!
As a corporate road warrior customer I hate this dynamic pricing practice as my expense account does not allow me to pay 100% more than regular rates due to a change in itinerary.
Just off Mill Plain and 1 mile away from I-​205. Quiet newer property with many good restaurant choices within walking distance include one of my favorites, McGrath’s Fish House.
I was upgraded to a very nice suite type room with a separate sleeping, living/​TV and work area. The updated décor was tasteful and comfortable. There was an HD flat screen TV in both the sleeping area and the living area. Free Wifi allowed me to work and do all of my computer stuff. I went to fill the ice bucket and found the only ice machine on the second floor was out of service so I went to the third floor and got my ice.
The King bed was inviting and cozy with a choice of pillows to allow me my comfortable slumber. Sometime during the night the phone rang and the front desk clerk asked who I was? and when did I check into that room?
About the same time I heard the room door open against the night latch. I rushed to push the door closed and was grateful I had used the night latch.
It was difficult to go back to sleep after this experience and the balance of my night was restless.
In the morning I left my room to get coffee as the in room coffee packets were all decaf. When I returned from downstairs, my key did not operate the door and I had to return to the front desk who advised me that according to the codes on the key, it had been voided when the room was re-​keyed for another guest the night before (after I had checked in). Overall I am not impressed with my experience with their lack of employee training and I don’t plan on ever returning to this property.
