They’ve got prices and none of them are bad. Better than Craigslist for used gear without the awkward «I’m going to have to pass, man.» Private testing rooms keep the distractions minimal when testing out new gear. I’m headed in after work to buy up a new shredder compliments of a broke junkie!
They’ve got lay-​a-​way. Takes me back to being broke in the 90’s and buying school clothes at K-​Mart. That familiar atmosphere is really comforting for the childhood poverty-​PTSD.

Andrew and Nathan were very helpful and friendly. I came in with a few questions about repairs and pricing, they instructed me how to repair it myself so I wouldn’t have to pay. I bought replacement strings, pins, and some guitar strength. For under $ 10. They have a great selection and great customer service, I was satisfied with my experience

I’ve purchased many guitars from Briz and always get amazing customer service. The staff is knowledgable and helpful, even when I was a beginner. They spent time answering all my questions. I highly recommend checking them out before going anywhere else. They have a great selection with prices that can’t be beat.

Killer spot, great gear and great deals. The best staff around, super knowledgeable and helpful. There’s always rad music playing and it has a great vibe. My favorite music store in the Portland area.

This review was sitting in the queue for a few months and I want to roll it out now. I rarely give negative reviews, but I just have to share my experience. Don’t sell your gear here unless you want nothing for it. Especially don’t sell more than one piece at a time.
I sold a three piece Drum set (no symbols) but with hi hat and bass pedal, and an extra snare, a saxaphone, a banjo, an electric guitar, an acoustic guitar, a nice Vox tube amp, and a clean solid state amp (don’t recall the brand).
All were well heavily used and blemished but working so I didn’t expect thousands. I was thinking $ 350.00ish and expected $ 250.00ish and I was offered $ 120.00! I countered with a big $ 150.00 and no counter offer even made. The $ 30.00 was a gesture of acceptance for the horrible offer, but he is used to dealing with cash hungry people and I was hungry to unload a truck full of items collecting dust. I am sure most of his good finds come in this way. People don’t know the value, want to clean out Johnny’s room or need some rock for their crack pipe and take pennies on the dollar.
I took the time to write this only to spare others the same insult. The Vox tube amp clearly was what he wanted.
I would have felt better donating the items to the Salvation Army, but I was too lazy to load it all back in my truck.
I know pawn shops feed on the needy and have a lot of dead inventory and overhead to pay out, but come on, you should put up a sign that says «Bend Over and Smile.»
They did give my garage a lot more space.
If you pay $ 500.00 for the Vox amp ($ 360.00 to $ 1,000 on e-​bay) remember they paid me $ 15.00, yes about $ 15.00 for it.
Pawn shops are not in business to make long-​term customers, they are there to exploit those suffering for quick cash and sell at above market prices to people who don’t do any research before they buy. As long as you understand this going in, you won’t be pissed off coming out.
I did buy a nice 32 inch Samsung TV/​Monitor from a pissed off pawn shop customer downtown last year who was offered $ 50 for a $ 400.00 TV. I gave him $ 150 and it works great! So, the Cosmos had to be balanced by Briz Loan I guess.

Briz is a great place to find a used guitar, keyboard, muc, anything musical. The same guys have ran the place as long as I have browsed there and they’re always really helpful. Prices are always reasonable for the gear and they also have sales all the time.

Have tons of perfectly playable used gear. They don’t always have what I’m looking for but if you go in enough usually something catches your eye. Have to jump on stuff because it’ll move fast if it’s a hot ticket item. Was looking for a boost pedal a couple months ago. They didn’t have anything interesting for a month or 2 then I went in one day and they had 3 boutique boost pedals. All reasonably priced. I was very happy with the one I purchased. Went back the next week and them remaining ones were gone.

By far my favorite music store in the Portland area. Very laid back and friendly and a really killer selection of used equipment. Being an electronic musician I am always impressed with the synths and effects in store. Right across the river in downtown Vancouver, quick drive from Portland, and well worth it. No place else with such a great selection of cool old gear.

Really good deals here on guitars compared to the other 2^nd hand sellers and pawn shops I’ve checked out. In fact I bought a Strat here recently and check back every few weeks to see what they get in. They carry amps & other stuff too. Easy going attitude here as well.

Have been here twice and everyone seemed cool and not a douche like GC. When you asked a question they dont give you any attitude. Really good deals on everything I saw and some pretty cool guitars from the 80’s and 90’s. Cant wait to get my tax return.
