Black Rock Coffee Bar

Im a big fan of the black rock in hazel dell, great place. But this one is garbage. They are so slow for no reason. The coffee is good. But the service is so slow there were two cars in front me in the line and I was there for about 13 minutes. I will not be returning.

Watch for the upsell! The last two times I’ve been there, they have given me (and charged me for) a size larger drink then I ordered. The first time I let it go, the second time I got a refund for the entire cost of the drink because I doubted it was a mistake and I don’t appreciate trying to be swindled.

slow sevice. I pulled around to the second window and the person who took my order acted like i was bothering her… the whole time my order was being made she went back to texting and let the other girl working do it all…
Not the kind of service i have experience from any black rock locations…

This particular BR has pathetically apathetic employees with no sense of customer service or enthusiasm. Perhaps if I was dressed as a Buckle-​laden douchebag driving a WRX they might be more inclined to prepare to give a damn.
The coffee is medicare at best.
Don’t waste your time, there is a great Dutch Bros right up the street.
$ 3.75 for an iced can of Rockstar with a shot of Tirani syrup? Ouch.

Coffee is good, employees are very nice, the prices are reasonable, and the best part, they have NEVER messed up on my order :)

Brittany was very rude. She was getting short with my sister and I when telling her our order. She was not friendly at all! It was OUR FIRST BAD EXPERIENCE EVER AT THE MILL PLAIN LOCATION!
I called the # on the receipt to complain and it was not the store manager. The # should be updated.
THIS RIDICOULOUS! I HAVE TO SELECT A STAR!!!

I’d give it 1 star if the drinks weren’t so delicious. The service is is awful. I thought I’d try out one of their stands, instead of actual store. Oh boy, what a mistake. Don’t be a fool like me. Save yourself.

The Rockstar smoothies are the bomb! I do NOT like energy drinks but the strawberry banana Rockstar smoothie is awesome. You can’t taste the Rockstar yet it gave me tons of energy without the jitters. Oh yeah, their coffee is good too.

I just found out something pretty amazing about black rock. A local family’s house burnt down recently and black rock put $ 1,000 towards their repair project. How cool is that?!

I’ve been a regular customer here since they opened (5 yrs). They have THE best coffee… period. And the baristas are always upbeat and friendly.
What I like best is that no matter which location I go to and no matter which employee makes my coffee it always tastes the same, I appreciate the consistency. Can’t really say that about any other coffee chain.
And the prices… totally put Peet’s and Starbuck’s to shame

I will preface this review by saying this was my first experience at a Black Rock. I typically order hot drip coffee and drink it black. Also, this is a coffee kiosk in a parking lot and has a limited menu (which I did not know).
Stopped by for a quick cup of Joe with my co-​workers during our lunch break on Wednesday. Ordered the Black Rock Coffee (~$ 2) with the assumption that it was brewed; however, it ended up being an Americana instead which did not seem like anything out of the ordinary to the barista. She simply explained they don’t serve brewed coffee because it’s a kiosk and not a walk in storefront.
Despite my order being incorrect (my own fault for assuming) the coffee was tasty, had a rich flavor and a good caffeine kick… Just wish I’d ordered a cappuccino if I was going to dilute the delicious coffee with something anyway.
I’ll definitely be back the next time I need an afternoon pick-​me-​up, and this time I’ll know what to order.

I love this place! Not only are the drinks super great; the baristas really make the experience one to remember with their friendly smiles and cheerful attitudes. Each one knows me by name and car and I always feel special each time I stop by. Keep it up, Black Rock, we love you guys!

Pretty darn good, great menu, always seem to be busy. I come about 1x per week now! Lately been drinking a lot of iced lattes from there. Curious about their warm drinks as it’s been a while since I drank a warm latte. Bought the beans and seem pretty average to me.

Stopped here around 8am before a bunch of us went to a crossfit competition in Longview. The place reminded me of a record store more than a coffee shop, which was cool, I’m into it. I got a smoothie and a yogurt/​granola cup and my girlfriend got a iced americano. My smoothie was tasty and pretty much perfect if you ask me. I’m not a coffee guy, so I’m glad when there are options besides hot chocolate.
The iced americano my girlfriend had and the one a good friend had were pretty bad from the looks on their faces. The girlfriend held onto hers, the friend tossed hers on the way out the door.
I won’t rate it 1 star based on their opinions, but I will stay with a three because I had to hear about it the entire ride to Longview.

I have officially converted from a dedicated Starbucks patron to a Black Rock loyal. I mostly visited Starbucks because of their convenience– there’s always one around and I am signed up for their rewards program– but now I will drive an extra 20 blocks just to go to Black Rock instead when I need my caffeine fix. Each time that I have visited, the staff has been nothing short of friendly. I actually feel like they earn their tips, unlike many baristas at other places. My fiancé and I only go a few times a week and some of the staff already remember what we like to order. I usually go for an iced caramel blondie. I like sweet and sugary coffee drinks. They are so much tastier than similar drinks from Starbucks. I will confess, I am no coffee snob and can’t tell the difference in quality, but it works for me. I’ve gotten iced lattes there before also and I enjoyed them as well, for the days that I didn’t want so much sweetness. Their prices are decent, and their punch card system is a nice perk as well.

Great coffee, though not cheap or cheaper than Starfux. Very friendly baristas, though I am not a fan of the blaring f-​word rap I hear most of the time. Caramel Blondie and Milky Way both blended are my favorites. I like the punch card program and its a tossip between Dutch Bros and Black Rock which is the go-​to place.

Went here twice. First time bad and thought it might have been a mistake. Gave it a second chance and also was bad. Haven’t gone back since.

The coffee keeps getting worse as they open more locations. The employees openly admitted to me when I complained about my drink that they are about making drinks cheap rather then quality. They are the new Starbucks, Boo.

Strong drinks! Fast and friendly service. They are more than willing to help you choose a drink that fits your mood/​diet for the day.
