I have been a retail pharmacist since 1997. Since that time, I have witnessed a dramatic change in the roles of medical providers. It seems as though we all spend as much if not more time on business and clerical functions as we do in our roles as medical experts in our respective specialties. I have spent countless hours on the phone with insurance companies obtaining prior authorizations and formulary information, getting the right insurance card information, and coordinating benefits for patients. Drug recalls, pooling business report data to evaluate our pharmacy’s performance, marketing our pharmacy. It never seems to end. I can’t tell you how many times I have said, «When do I get to be a pharmacist?». That sentiment is echoed by many physicians and nurses as well. That is where my business can help.
