West Coast Dental of Van Nuys

I called about 3 weeks ago to schedule an appointment for my daughter I asked for sedation since my daughter gets freaked out. I got the appointment for today, The person in charge of doing the sedation was not working today… Hummmm but I was told that they would have the specialist there today, then they charged me $ 500 for my daughter’s sedation. No one told me at the beginning that my daughter would not get sedated today until after I had paid, So when I made the appointment I was told that they would do the entire job+ sedation today. Well my daughter was nervous so they didn’t do nothing.
Now here is what bothered me the most!
The Pedo Doctor at this location today started off ok, my daughter was not cooperating I understand that, but this doc told my daughter that «she was busy and could not waste her time on her that she had more patients»
Regardless if my daughter was not cooperating she should off not made this comment! Then she told me that she was not a doctor at that location, but that she was not the right doctor for my daughter all upset!!! That’s another thing you don’t tell your patients, getting mad and upset and making bad comments is un-​acceptable period!!! She does not like what she does for a living, then she should not be there!
The only one person that was so loving and caring was Sheri, she is a doll. An angel from heaven and I thank her for being so loving and having patience. So now they are making me go again next month… And they kept my $ 500 just WOW bad service!!!

Place is horrible don’t come here. Long wait. Came in 10mins before my appointment and still waited 1hour. All the want is $$$$

I absolutely loved my experience! Dr Perline is amazing. She is warm and considerate and she keeps you up to speed with a step-​by-​step explanation of what she’s performing and why. My last dentist was in Beverly Hills and their service was good but I give Perline 5 stars for being Great! Not to mention I saved a ton of money. She went above and beyond the call of duty. The atmosphere is also very hospitable and jovial. I look forward to a life-​long relationship with West Coast Dental.

Zero stars!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!! I made the mistake of bringing my son here– first time in march of 2015 when he was 2 yrs old… I should have learned from that experience.. we waiting over an hour for x-​rays which the tech could barely do. Finally after almost another hour and one hungry toddler I decided that was enough ! I grabbed my son and we left ! The office tried calling me asking where we were? But this office doesn’t care about its patients or their time.
Second time I thought I would give them another chance, seeing as I thought my now 3 yr old would need more then a cleaning. We arrived early but were not taken in until 30 mins after the appt! The nurse took 3 x-​rays of all the front teeth but interestingly enough saw a cavity in the big teeth in the back not even pictured in the slides!!! They claimed there was a dark shadow on the tooth that meant a cavity! What??? Now we can get it filled but the only options were silver which according to the dentist would mean deeper drilling or composites which are not covered ($ 100 for one child tooth) but would only need to be on top of the tooth??? Not only that they offered to give a «polish that he would need to have replaced every four months» (another $ 100 for a total of 10 teeth) !!! I admit I jumped on composites with out asking if my 3 yr old could even stand this! I should have just said no thank u! But I was worried about his teeth falling out… this was the only woman dentist at the office … I was very clear in asking if she could perform drilling on a scurmmy child and she insisted she could… fine I agreed and almost 2 hours later! A nurse comes in and finally polishes his teeth! I was just about ready to get the heck out of there!!! Another half hour goes by and I’m pissed where the hell is this dentist! The front desk and nurses noticed me and my son walking around yet not making eye contact as I’m sure it was very obvious how pissed I was when finally the dentist comes in –shitty bed side manner– Ready to drill into my baby’s mouth with out even numbing first!!! My son was scared and crying !! She tried to drill twice having everyone even me hold him down but finally said she can’t continue because he’s being «difficult and won’t stop crying «well what do u expect! ??? This dentist is not professional and is not someone I would recommend u bring your children to!
Lastly it was 6 patients to just her
Unnecessary and expensive up sales on «polish» a total of $ 200!!!
And no bed side manner

Can not and should not indicate she can work on toddlers and worse off after all the wait she now wants to refer my son out??? She should have just done that to begin with and not waste our time!!! If there is a 0 or negative score, they deserve it. I came in for emergency and the dr told me to come back in 3 weeks to see the specialist. After 3 weeks the specialist told me to come back again because she had so many patients and cannot accommodate me on my appointment… U have been sore for almost a month and they don’t care. They care more about how much I would pay when they haven’t done any service to me. Please don’t come here. This place is horrible. horrible horrible horrible.

This place will try to over charge you for all their services. Even if you have insurance they try to double dip. Please people save your self. Horrible customer service. This office is just trying to make money of everyone. Everyone is very unprofessional from front staff to Dentist. If you have insurance don’t deal with this clowns. They don’t care about their patients all they think about is making profit. If you want compassionate care and an office that will work with your insurance to provide adequate care THIS OFFICE IS NOT THE PLACE… Run people while you have a chance.

I’m a Dentical patient that needs dentures. I already knew a full upper and lower was needed. In fact, I knew that I had 11 teeth remaining that needed extraction. I also knew I needed an oral surgeon to do this and I was advised by friends and a dentist I’d seen a year or so ago, that being knocked out would be the best course of action. I went to another Dentical doctor a week before visiting West Coast and he referred me to an oral surgeon that wouldn’t be available for two months so I asked Dentical for another group of dentists in my area. I picked West Coast primarily because of how nice and thorough and knowledgeable Ruben was when I called. He seemed to know exactly what I needed, said he would rush me in to make sure I could make it in time for the one day per month visit with the oral surgeon. I waited almost an hour for the dentist to assess my situation and give me a full panorama panel of x-​rays. Things went smoothly once I was in the chair till the Billing Manager came in and asked when my last full exam was and I told her a year ago because it was. She immediately called me a liar and asked me again and told me to tell the truth. I was outraged and asked her what was she trying to do by talking to me with such disrespect and how dare she call me a liar. She announced that she had it in writing that I saw a dentist the week before. I did and I had and it lasted less than 10 minutes till he wrote a referral to an oral surgeon he didn’t know. No x-​rays were taken and there was no exam, let alone a full exam. She shifted gears and said, «Why did you say you want implants when Dentical doesn’t pay for them and besides, two implants are $ 10,000.00. I was incensed and said that I was deeply offended that she characterized me as a hustler and liar. I told her I know what implants cost and she was lying and I only said I wished I could have them. The billing person told me that general sedation wasn’t covered by Dentical and it would be $ 500.00 that had to be paid up front before the work would be done. I said, «I thought they covered it.» She said, no they don’t and if I want it they can do it but it’s $ 500.00 and if I just want novocaine then they’ll cover it to a degree. She added the oral surgeon comes once a month so I need to decide and she added that «you want this done, you have to pay for it.» I left angry beyond words that I was treated like this and when I got home I called Ruben, who quickly apologized for her and said, «I tried to get off the phone and correct her but we were too busy. We’ll take care of you and remember you can bring $ 500.00 in cash or a check or your credit card as long as you sign some papers before your surgery.
Let me tell you something, it got worse from here, more lies, more declarations of how Dentical doesn’t cover treatments and the consistent hustle to get me in the chair with assurances that once I paid, they’d get it done and my dentures would be ready in a month following. Except that they lied about that too and even went so far as to submit approval requests after I told them to forget I ever had the bad luck of thinking they were decent people. I caught Ruben in more than one lie and let me tell you, you’ll regret going through the doors of this place and I have been to many dentists in my life. This isn’t a dental practice so much as it’s an obvious yank ‘em and fleece ‘em kinda operation where they rely on fear and intimidation and lies to build their business. Get a pair of pliers for yourself and you’ll be better off than choosing this place to milk you, bilk you and lie to your face.

I came in for an emergency visit my tooth was broken and I was in need of a root canal and crown. This was the only dental office that could see me immediately, as it was a holiday weekend. I was warmly greeted and received a speedy check in from the receptionist Ruben.
The first visit the Dentist reviewed my X-​rays gave me a quick exam on the broken tooth. Gave her recommendation, then sent in a finance rep. This is where we loose one star. Although the finance rep explained a couple different crowns, she quoted me only one price (I assumed it was the price of the dentist recommended crown.) I agreed upon a root canal and crown.
The second visit was one week later. This visit was over 5hrs. I don’t really understand way it took so long this visit was just to prep my tooth, but I’m not a dentist and left the office that day without complaint.
The final visit was a little over one and a half weeks later. When I arrived at the office I was quickly placed in an exam room. The crown was on the tray, I was curious so I opened the case and looked at the crown but was shocked to see the lesser value crown there (filled with metal) which isn’t what I wanted nor the one the dentist suggested. I asked the Dentist about it she left the room and another Finance rep. Entered (different from the the previous rep.) she explained to me that, that was in fact my crown and all that I had paid for. I explained to her that was not the crown I agreed upon and that I didn’t want it. She told me I’d have to pay another $ 500– $ 700 in addition to the $ 1200 I had already agreed to pay and wait another week. This was unacceptable as I had already waited nearly 2 weeks for a crown. We went back and forth a few minutes, before she pulled up my original contract. To my surprise I had signed for that crown, but luckily the notes of the previous finance rep. Where in my file and it showed that she’d explained all the options but only quoted one price. I explained that I wasn’t going to pay for that mistake or the inconvience of waiting another week with a horribly shaped temporary crown.
I will give credit where credit is due. After realizing that the previous rep hadn’t properly explained the options. The rep. Offered to replace the crown with the one I wanted if I payed the lab fees which where an additional $ 100+. Which I agreed to.
The fourth visit was one week later. It was the quickest visit lasting less the 15 min the crown was quickly placed. I was asked to sign a contract saying I was happy. I did sign. I was satisfied that this long ordeal to have my tooth repaired was over. I did however feel the tooth may still be of some other material then what I wanted.
Fast forward 6mos. My crown falls out while I’m eating a banana and granola. I called immediately after that happened. Ruben surprisingly remembered me. He was surprised to hear about my tooth and was able to get me into see the dentist at 4pm. I arrived at 3:50 and was quickly placed in the exam room where I waited until 4:50.
This is where we loose the final two stars. I leave the room to ask how much longer I’d have to wait. Ruben standing in front of the dentist, tells me the dentist is now having lunch and after that she had another patient. I then explained I’d been waiting nearly an hour. I returned to the room I over heard the dentist ask Ruben if I’d gotten the crown there, and how many years ago. I answered her questions from the exam room «yes I got the crown here six months ago“so she could hear me. a few minutes later I had some X-​rays taken. a few moments later the dentist comes in no words I guess she was irritated that she had to fit me in. She looks at the X-​ray then my tooth. She begins to prep the crown to replace it. I wanted to ask her some questions. Like, Why did this happen? Will it happen again? Is there an infection? The dentist just repeats to me «I know honey I know honey.» Then she says the cement wasn’t mixed correctly. Nothing else no apology she just roughly popped it back in. I really feel like she didn’t want to do it. I was irritated after six months this should had never happend. It was painful popping it in and didn’t have to be, she just didn’t want to do it.
A day later the finance rep calls my job, not my home to ask about my late payment. I had a final or second to final installment a week or two past due. Then the following week, after I’d mailed out the payment I received a notice threatening to send my two-​two and half week final or second to final payment to collection after more then $ 1000 of my debt had been paid. I feel theses actions were all some sort of retaliation for coming in the week prior. The late payment was an obvious over site.
I will not refer them to anyone! I’m sure once I find a trustworthy dentist I will need to have this crown replaced.

I went to West Coast Dental after my sister recommended them. I was very pleased with the speed of the check up, and the hygienist’s, Bobbie, consideration in my sensitivity issues while performing the cleaning. I recommend this place. Good service, nice people, convenient.

As other reviewers have said, they have all new dentists here. Ruben at the front desk is so friendly and amazing and makes you feel right at home. The staff is competent. I had a deep cleaning and it was done much more quickly and with only one visit instead of four, I was very pleased with this service. My son and I both go here and are very pleased with the cleaning, crowns, and fillings we have had so far. They also are very good at explaining the different insurance options and how to pace your services so that you are covered.

So, I chose west coast dental for a very invasive procedure that included multiple extractions and multiple bone graphs. My fear of dentistry is worse than my fear of death. The only time I seek dentistry is in time of pain. After I made my appointment with this office, I read the reviews and to say the least, I was absolutely terrified!
Let me tell you about my experience. From start to finish, I was treated kindly and with respect, no matter what condition my dental health was. That was the most important aspect of the care I received. I’m already hard enough on myself to go and have others judge me. Everyone from the front office staff to the assistants and surgeons made me feel so comfortable:) it was by far the BEST experience I’ve had under the care of a dental practice! Even though these guys are out of my way, I will continue to use them because of this experience! Despite all of the other reviews, which I was very skeptical of, I highly recommend these guys.

Please note: a lot of the reviews posted were with OLD staff. This place has all new staff and have remodeled the place. My experience is based on the new staff:
I’m not a huge fan of the dentist, but I had a filling fall out and knew that I had to get in to get it taken care of before it caused more damage.
When I called to make an appointment, Ruben was great and took down all my information, gave me an appointment and told me what documents to bring with me on my first visit to ensure it went smoothly.
When I arrived, Ruben gave me a friendly greeting, had me sign in, take a seat and fill out some easy paperwork.
My first visit did not go as planned. I was thinking I was there for just a filling and I would be on my way. After viewing my xrays, Dr Khorram told me that there was more that needed to be done. I had more xrays taken, and got to sit down with their financial counsel to make sure I understood what treatments I needed and the cost for each treatment. I was able to ask my ‘tough’ questions and really felt like I understood what was going to be done and the cost.
Dr Khorram got to work immediately. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure that even though I have a serious FEAR that I was comfortable and doing okay through the entire treatment. I had a total of 3 visits to complete the work. Each visit was actually pretty pleasant (minus a little discomfort from some of the work being done) and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I honestly have AVOIDED the dentist in the past not only because of my fear, but because most dentists seem cold and all about business. Dr Khorram is not that dentist and I’m actually a little excited to go back for my quarterly cleanings.
Finally going to have pearly white teeth without feeling like I’m having major surgery each time.

Worst experience I have ever had at a dental office. The prices I was quoted was more than double the copay. It was ridiculous. I went to another office and paid the exact copay I was told by my insurance. It is all about how much money they can swindle out of you at this office. Just horrible! STAY AWAY!!!

«DON’T GO TO THIS PLACE» horrible the only thing they want is to make money always offering CARE CRIDIT or payments with them they don’t focus in what you really need. I wouldn’t trust this doctor with my teeth at all. I needed a fill on one of my tooth as emergency because it was hurting and the first thing was ok you need much more than that and insurance doesn’t cover it so how would you like to make you’re pymts… BS. NO STAR AT ALL just because i have to select one to post my comment.

This places administration is shady; I went in once and made a plan and agreed on it made an appointment. When I showed up to my appointment the «regional» Veronica pulled me in her office and showed us three different kinds of procedures claiming that this is a better path, in reality she changed the ammount that I was going to be charged from $ 207 to $ 400 from $ 40 to $ 78; yes she almost double the prices without even mentioning a thing. The day I signed the contract I didn’t get a copy or the broken down estimate. Just don’t go there if you don’t want to be scammed.
It’s been about two months since my visit to this place and I’m still having problems with them, the credit accounts that they open have a different last name, different address, different phone number. This means they couldn’t find my account although it did go to my credit report.
The office that opens my accounts can’t fix any of this because they’re not me but they do have the ability to open an account without my permission. I call corporate and they tell me they can’t guarantee anything because it’s not their authority but they’ll try. I didn’t have to go through any of this and it’s just stressing seriously don’t visit westcoast dental, there’s a reason why they have nothing but bad reviews I just wish I had researched them BEFORE i gave them a visit.

Seriously, I wish I could give this place zero stars. Listen to the reviewers, avoid this place like the plague. They blatantly lie to you here. I was told that I had one really bad cavity that needed a very expensive root canal done RIGHT AWAY, and that I had four smaller cavities that needed to be dealt with. I declined everything and went got a second opinion.
Turns out, the «very bad cavity» didn’t need a root canal, a standard filling was done and that fixed the problem. The dentist was not even sure that the other four «cavities» were actually cavities, so he said to wait on it.
Forward six months to my most recent cleaning, they took X-​rays and said I have zero cavities. West Coast Dental exaggerated one cavity and lied about four to get my money. NEVER go here.

Went to this dentist the summer of 2012. Was told that I had multiple cavities, and that I needed a special 200 dollar cleaning to happen right after the regular cleaning. Declined everything besides the regular cleaning and began to avoid dentists in Los Angeles. Just went to a dentist in Burbank this month, where he also did xrays. I had zero cavities, and did not need anything but the regular cleaning. I even told him about what West Coast Dental told me about cavities, and he showed me on the xrays that I am cavity free. DO NOT GO TO WEST COAST DENTAL. They were nice enough, but they seem to be out for money.

Okay, this place sucks.
All they did was tell me that I needed to have a flouride coat done on top of my teeth. I’m 18. this is normally done for children less than 10 years old. I paid like 45 bucks as a co-​payment because they told me my insurance «supposedly covered for it».
SHA-​BAM! A week later my insurance contacted me and wanted me to pay the rest of the amount to these bozos because «the dentist never confirmed with the insurance comp. if they were gonna pay it» So now, I have to pay double my co-​payment, and I’m pissed because these sons of guns lied to me.
I also needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled, and they wanted to charge me $ 2,500 for all 4 teeth. WTH? I left and went somewhere else where I only paid a tiny co-​payment to get all my 4 teeth pulled. SUCCESS!
So, don’t go here. They’re money hungry and don’t give a damn about you, or your needs. I’ll get off my soap box now.
