Bill’s career began after graduating from A.S.E.P. (Automotive Specialty Educational Program), a General Motors technology program. He spent nearly a decade as a diagnostician at General Motors dealerships. When he purchased Tru-​Line Automotive in 1993, he acquired a reputable shop already staffed with well– trained technicians. The previous owner mentored him in the areas of frame repair, suspension and fabrication, Over the years, Chrysler, Ford and Fleetwood have sought Bill’s help with suspension safety issues, frame modifications, and vibration diagnostics. Bill’s «team approach» has resulted in several factory «service bulletins» being distributed nationwide. Bill embraces technology, continuing education, solid problem-​solving, and «old school» sensibility. Manufacturers, studios, dealerships, emergency services, and thousands of individuals place their trust and loyalty in Tru-​Line.

I highly recommend the services and professionalism of Truline directed by Bill Blatter has surrounded himself with a fantastic team. Each person who intervened in my truck (bus Ford E350) has contributed to realize my wish for the Layouts of my project. They understood and perfectly equipped my mobile pet grooming as I had imagined, plus the installation of efficient and non-​polluting materials, such as solar panels that are used to give me a clean Energy autonomy as conventional generators that are more very noisy. I am really happy to have found these guys to do my braking system repairs and replacement. They are terrific people, seem very professional, and their prices are half of what the dealership charges for the same service. A week or two after they repaired my brake system, I started to hear a worrisome clang, so I brought the car back to find out what the problem was. They looked at the car, said they’d put in a wrong part (not dangerous), replaced it, and apologized profusely. I was very impressed that they owned their mistake and fixed it immediately. Very few service providers have the integrity to do that. Bravo, Bill and team.

I took my car (Buick Regal) to Truline after having an oil fire on my engine. I put the fire out and had it towed to the shop. I expected that it was totaled and figured they would confirm that. They told me they could fix it, and they did. I ended up paying way less than I had anticipated and the work was done quickly and well. They explained exactly what they had done to my car and showed me step by step what had gone wrong and why they had to fix certain things. I was extremely happy with them, and they were the first honest mechanics that I’ve found in years. By the way their new number is (818)455−9300

It’s true, Bill is back. I have taken my cars to Tru-​Line for over 20 years as a matter of course whenever I have gotten new tires. Their alignment and balancing is the best and the only thing that will protect your investment in a good set of tires. But alignment isn’t the only feature at Tru-​Line. About ten years ago I realized that Bill had a used car lot on site. A key component of selling used cars is being able to breathe new life into them. I decided to start servicing my cars (generally 5 – 10 years old) there. The estimates are never inflated, the work is solid, the technicians friendly and willing to explain what they are doing. I know a lot about cars, but I am not a mechanic. What I look for, like most consumers, is integrity, honesty and a willingness to stand behind the work. This is a first-​rate shop where the owner isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty to get a job done. Welcome back, Bill.

I’m very particular about where I go with my cars for alignment. I’ve had some serious disasters at many alignments taking my drift car and my daily driver 350z for alignments with all the custom suspension control arms and settings that I require. Tru-​Line was the only one in Van Nuys that nailed the alignment PERFECTLY on a 3 angle adjustable suspension system that cars do not have stock. I had taken my drift car to some shop on some shop on oxnard and hazeltine, thats across from a smog shop and shared with some muffler shop… they setup my rear end so bad that my car began to lose traction driving in a straight line at 100+mph… It took Tru-​Line nearly 3 hours to set all the custom suspension to where it was meant to be. If you want your car aligned, you must go here. If they can align a drift track car, they can align any car. In fact, they even align I-​Beam suspension which is only found on older Ford Trucks. I had done a major lift kit and wanted negative camber, a job quite close to impossible to do… They were able to do it!!!

Not the same since Steve left. My family has been a long-​time customer of Steve’s — dating back to Jerry’s Shell and then at TruLine. He was the best — knowledgable, honest, funny. But since he retired to Northern California, TruLine just doesn’t make the grade. I took my car there a few times after he left, for various minor and one major problem, and did not receive the same service. I just didn’t feel that things were taken care of in the same manner — the trust was gone. On my last visit, when they didn’t even fix the right problem and then didn’t follow up like they said they would, it was obvious that they just weren’t qualified to make the repair and had bit off more than they could chew. I just can’t go back, and neither will my husband. Sorry.
