The Great Redemption

Fun and challenging. Not super hard and we were able to escape with about eight minutes to spare. (We were a team of six adults.) Nice staff too.

I had a lot of fun doing my first escape room at Great Redemption. You’re locked in a jail cell and have to get out, find the stolen money, and break out of the station.
My friend and I got out with a minute to spare. They allowed us to ask for a couple of hints, which really helped since we were newbies. We wasted a lot of time figuring out the first lock, but then we got the hang of it and didn’t have too much trouble on the rest. I’d really like to try another escape room and see what other puzzles are out there…
The location is hidden upstairs above a gold/​jewelry pawn shop (can’t miss the jewelry signs). There is a parking lot available. Definitely recommended especially if you’re new to escape rooms!

This was a great experience! I went in with a friend, as a group of two, and this was our first time with any type of escape room. When the staff found out, they were very facilitating and friendly. They gave us tips and tricks, before we started to familiarize ourselves with the concept. They also gave us hints, which were just the right amount of helpful direction, but not overly revealing, when we were stuck. The puzzles were just the right level of difficultly, and we didn’t feel like we couldn’t finish within hour. They set up the ambiance in the room very well, and it added to the fun and exhilaration. (The thrill of finding money was a definite plus.) Overall, it was very fun and we highly recommend this place. :)

Room– The Great Redemption. Your friend has framed you. You have been arrested and are accused of stealing 1 million dollars. You must collect the money and evidence before the interrogator comes back.
Location is in a sketchy part of Van Nuys. They have their own parking lot and the parking is free. You do need a code to enter the building so check your e-​mail.
My bf and I Played this room with just the two of us. The owners were very nice. The hint system is pretty much the norm that you would find in most escape rooms.
After doing more than 40 escape rooms I felt a bit underwhelmed with this room. Its very small so I would think more than 4 people would be too much. The clues are all out in the open and are very straight forward. My bf and I finished this room in about 35 minutes… without rushing or trying to get a top leaderboard score.
YES…we are one of those couples who play for fun and not for bragging rights… lol.
Overall, I would recommend this room for newbies or first timers to escape rooms. Anyone with a bit of experience may leave disappointed.

Since I’m a complete noob when it comes to this ‘escape room’ business, I only had some guesses as to what to expect. In the end, I had a blast & would totally do another experience like this.
Don’t get deterred when you arrive: yes, this place looks sketch and I was about to text my GPS coordinates to family and friends back home so they would be able to locate my body. However, this unassuming office complex next to a pawn shop holds a pleasant surprise within.
We arrived early (you have to reserve a time, I believe) and the lady let us begin immediately. She explained the set up/​scenario and our goal: get the hell out! There were 4 of us total and it was fun to work together, yell at each other, and laugh the entire time. You’re given one hour to get out — sadly, my group fell just seconds short of the 60 minute mark. Despite that, I had a lot of fun. I almost feel that the longer it takes, the more fun it is. There was a ‘record holder’ that finished it in 16 minutes. Sixteen minutes? I’d ask for my money back! :)
We got a photo op at the end and an explanation of any missing clues that might have expedited our escape. The theme and difficulty level are tame enough that I think even younger crowds might have fun. The décor/​set up could use a little work, but that’s the only downside. It’s too bad they only have one room because now I can’t go back. Over all, this is good times.

What a fantastic experience! Our host was so lovely and welcoming to our group. The building has a shared parking lot with plenty of spaces. There’s no sign for the business outside but just look for a jewelry shop.
This escape room was challenging. Thankfully it’s not scary. The last thing I want is to be in a murder or psycho scenario. It’s a prison theme that takes place in a room where you’re locked in a jail cell. I don’t want to ruin the surprise so just check it out. We escaped in 32 minutes, oh ya Gothic Ninjas.

I went here this past weekend with my boyfriend and we had a good time! This was our first escape room so I wasn’t really sure what to expect.
Once you go inside and find the escape room, the staff explains to you the rules and what to expect going in. They also gave us a set of walkie talkies so that they could communicate with us if we got stuck and give us clues.
My boyfriend and I didn’t make it out in time (you have 60 minutes to finish), but still had a fun time trying to figure out all of the clues. Once you leave the escape room, they take your picture with some props that they have.
There is a lot of parking out front and you need a pass code to get into the building. You just call them when you are out front and they will give you the code and let you in.
They text you and send you email confirmations to make sure that you don’t forget your appointment. I took one star off just because the guy seemed very irritated that I didn’t reply to his text message. He made it a point to mention it to me several times when I arrived. Overall I had a really good time and found the escape room to be challenging.

This was the 7^th escape room that my boyfriend and I have done. It was truly a fun experience with a mix of challenging and simple puzzles. This room is absolutely fantastic for the whole family and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a room that isn’t terribly difficult. The staff is also extremely nice and very sweet.
Ps: we are now the current record holders of escaping the quickest with only 2 people.

This was my friends and I first time at an escape room. I thought it was really fun! Although, we did take a bit of time trying to escape in the beginning. We escaped nonetheless. Definitely going to do more escape rooms after this experience.
There’s plenty of parking, and it’s on the second floor of a two floored building. Just call them because you need a passcode to get into the building.

A very clever room with several twists on puzzles. Good use of red herrings. Enough puzzles to keep a group of six busy. Wish there were a few more as we escaped with about 10 min to spare. I enjoy getting to the last few minutes with the adrenaline pumping. Would be interested on returning if they had additional rooms.

Had the best time with my friends! At first I didn’t know what we got ourselves into, but when we started to get the hang of it we had a blast. I would highly recommend this experience for a group of friends.

This was really a lot of fun and the game was very creative. The staff is very nice and sincerely seem to are about your enjoyment. My only complaint is that they only have one room and need to wait until they come up with something new to experience it again!

We had a really fun time as a family celebrating my dad’s birthday! It was so fun working as a team and figuring out all the clues. We are still talking about it! Really enjoyed all the puzzles!
It was a really nice touch having my dad’s bday gifts be part of the end. Highly recommend!

Had such a great time at the Great Redemption Room. Its in the same shopping center as that gold pawn shop place. Make sure you go upstairs and make a left and you will run right into it. This place is run by a lovely, friendly Husband and Wife. They gave us the instructions and we were right our way. My friend Dora and I and have done the escape room 2x’s prior and never escaped. We understood the concepts of deciphering and noticing patterns, etc. Without giving anything away about the room basically I will say is that you are trying to escape from jail. It was an awesome experience, we were both very excited and just figuring out the clues really got me going. We escaped with time left and it was quite the adrenaline rush!!! You get clues which sometimes can be helpful we did ask for a few but overall a fun experience! Looking forward to them getting more rooms so we can come again. Highly recommend!

This was our first escape room experience. We absolutely loved it.
Upon arrival we were a little bit wigged out because the area is pretty sketchy. But don’t let this deter you. The room was so much fun! It was not too difficult to complete but challenging enough to keep us thinking. We were successful!!!
The owner was very accommodating and texted our success pictures right away. We highly recommend this room! Especially to first timers.

This was my 5^th escape room and it was great. Got a groupon so the price was right. The staff was very polite and on top of it during the game. All the clues worked and overall a lot of fun. We escaped in about 45 mins.
You also get as many clues as you need which is nice so that you don’t get stick and waste your time.
Parking is free and the place is easy to find. Recommend it to others.

Today I experienced something I’ve never experienced before. THE GREAT REDEMPTION. An escape room type of game which is the newest trend in entertainment. It was like being inside a video game but way better. There were three of us in the group; me along with my 10 year old son and my cousin from Italy. Locked in a jail cell inside a room from which we had 1 hour to ultimately break out of. Clues and locks were hidden everywhere. Each clue found leads to another. Lots of puzzles to solve to get the code for the lock that holds the next clue in it. We really had to use our brains and work as a team. It was a new exciting kind of fun. If you are looking for something fun to do as a group try this. You will definitely enjoy it. It is located on the corner of Sepulveda and Burbank in the coin and jewelry building. The representative we dealt with, Adi was exceptional and helpful as well. All around a really great experience.

So much fun! My friend and I decided to do an escape room and found this one close by and for a great price! When we got there the staff was friendly and nice. The escape room was a blast and truly challenged us But we made it! And we even ended up getting the fastest time so far! I recommend you go to the great redemption for yourself and try and beat our time!

My friends and I like to go to different escape rooms and decided to take friends who had never been in one. From the second we called to make the appointment and until we left the place everything went smooth and was fun! We were welcomed by very friendly staff. They explained everything and made sure we all understood and were ready to go. One of the things I really liked the most was that they took the time to explain to us what to do in case of emergency, panic or discomfort. The idea behind the story and the chain of questions were highly sophisticated yet weren’t too hard to solve. This was not like that! Loved how they combined technology in the questions! We had a great time! Thank you.
Highly recommend this place! You will love it!
Wish them good luck and can’t wait for them to change it a bit so I’ll be able to go again!

Fun and clever!!! I had a great time at this escape room, the owners are super nice but don’t expect them to give it all away, you got to figure it out by yourself and enjoy as you do it, because it’s totally worth it! If you’re a fan of the movie, then you gonna have twice as much fun!

Wow… this place was so much fun!!! … If you’ve never done an escape room this is a perfect one to start with because it’s got a little bit of everything. Challenging puzzles and hidden clues everywhere. Definitely great for date night or even a group of friends. I don’t want to give away anything else because that would be cheating, LOL. Just trust me and go… You won’t regret it.

Did this with a group of 6. It was fun, although we got out fairly quickly, everyone in the group had a good time. We were all screaming frantically at each other the whole time lol. It gets a little warm inside so dress comfortably. Staff was super friendly. Would recommend!

The Great Redemption Escape Room is a great amount of fun! Made reservations one day in advance which was quick and easy. When we got there, the staff was very friendly and thorough. The room is very intuitive and thought provoking. My date and I were definitely challenged at some points but we were able to finish it in under the time limit. I definitely recommend this escape room to all wanting a fun and immersive experience.

The Great Redemption is yet another escape room to join Los Angeles. They are located close to The Galleria (a mall) and Public School (a gastropub), which gives patrons a place to go and hang out after a, hopefully, successful escape. The industry is beginning to become one where you can make obvious comparisons on who is a leader and who is just trying to benefiting off the popularity of the «new» type of entertainment; The Great Redemption falls somewhere close to the middle.

The Good:
Friendly Staff
Easy transition to the room
Puzzles correlated into the theme of the room
The Bad:
Décor doesn’t make you «feel» submersed into the story.
Puzzles are VERY familiar to those who have done these before.
No timer, but they have a leaderboard… So times are actually estimated and completely reliant on how well the game master pays attention. (Let’s just say we timed it on our own and our given time was off by 10 minutes)
Conclusion:
The Great Redemption doesn’t do a terrible job, but that’s because in my experience there are actually much worse escape games out there. This is a good starter room given how easy it was. My wife and I brought first timers and had to control our enthusiasm of trying to just rush through and just get it done. They have just started and I wish them the best– hopefully there is some reinvestment back into the company to improve the experience they are trying to provide.

Myself and a good friend were really wanting to go to one of these escape rooms. When another friend opened one up and offered me to make an appointment I was excited but didn’t really know what to expect. So I showed up with my friend and my girlfriend.
When we got there I wasn’t sure what’s going on. So I thought to myself everything must be a clue.
After completing the game I was super stoked. For the three of us we did very well. We needed just a little help on one part, but did pretty amazing on the rest, one by one we got out. I was very impressed by our abilities as a team to complete the challenges. Really got the chance to see how well we could work together. I definitely recommend you try this place out sometime. Bring a group of friends or co-​workers or whomever, that is if you’re up for the challenge!
