Target Range

I should really write two separate reviews for this place, one for the multiple times I was unlucky enough to deal with Christopher Gurnett (1 Star) and another for the single time I was fortunate enough to interact with Patricio Luna (5 Stars).
Because of Mr. Gurnett’s complete lack of communication skills I was forced to return to the store 5+ times, and had I not run into Mr. Luna it could have easily resulted in many more, time wasting, trips.
I was simply having a gun I’ve owned for over thirty years delivered from my father in Florida to this store.
On two occasions, Mr. Gurnett told me what documentation would be required only to find out, upon arrival, that he was incorrect. On both occasions he arrogantly denied providing incorrect information, I assume because his boss was standing nearby. He also neglected to inform me about additional requirements, such as a test I would have to take and a 240hr. waiting period that I could have begun almost a month ago.
On my latest visit I met Mr. Luna. My experience with him could not have been more professional. He was courteous, apologetic of his colleague’s shortcomings and made sure that every remaining element of the process was completed, so that I could retrieve my property in the shortest amount of time allowed by law and require the fewest trips back to the store.
Because of Mr. Gurnett’s inability to do his job, or communicate in general, I had to rent a gun while taking my nephews skeet shooting over the Christmas holiday. This was not only costly, but also a bit embarrassing in that I had spent over a month planning this outing, and had bragged about how jealous they would be of my vintage Winchester shotgun.
In short, if someone named Chris asks if you need help, just say, «I’ll wait for Patricio.»

Went in to educate myself regarding firearms safety. I took a one-​on-​one lesson with Patrick. He was very patient, knowledgeable and detailed in reviewing different types of pistols. Once I had completed the safety training to his satisfaction, he taught me proper stance and grip, target acquisition and ultimately got me to start hitting the targets consistently. In just one hour I have an all new respect and comfort with firearms and the knowledge of California Rules and regulations regarding safe keeping. Well worth the $ 75 fee. Thanks Patrick!

Friendly people, well staffed. It seemed busy, as the range was near full with only a couple vacant lanes when I checked in. I’ll try the Firing Line next time and compare the two.

My first time ever experiencing a gun was at Target Range
I had this bright idea (something I’ve wanted to do since 16) to go to a gun range. Ask a friend of mine who is aspiring to be in law enforcement if he was down to go
i figured i would mention it, my friend would say yes, and our outing would never happen, like most things you say you would do with a friend.
that was not the case, my friend was hella excited to go and had apparently done his research
he mentioned TR and said they had the best prices in regards to ranges that were near us.
he called spoke to hector and made an appointment friday for both of us to go through a lesson
friday comes we get to TR and my heart is racing as im standing in the lobby waiting for one of the guys (who were all helping someone) im a hell of a lot more nervous than i originally anticipated, my hand sweating as one of the guy (i think chris) asks if he could help us. we tell him we have an appointment with hector and goes to call him
hector arrives shortly, as i go to shake is hand i warn him that my palms maybe a bit sweaty, he laughs it off and says no worries
after taking our information and holding on to our license he informs us that he has chosen a few guns he wants to teach us and try out
he takes us into the back room and goes over the basics as he stops occasionally to make sure were getting everything he is teaching us and checking in on me (im having mini panic attacks as he describes each peace of the gun and what each one does etc)
upon finishing the basics he takes us back to the front grabs a few bags of 9 mm ammo a crap ton of targets and hands us ear plugs, noise canceling headphones, and safety goggles
he takes us to lane two where he proceeds to show us how to shoot a beretta 92fs, a g17, and a s&w special 38.
Hector rocked, he was pretty awesome. he made sure to check in on me every time i shot (i clearly was having problems as i was still nervous and shaky when i first shot off each gun). he mentioned if needed i could always take a breather and put the gun down, as long as i took the precautions and guided us on use of every pistol and corrected our stance and the positioning (as in the way we held the gun)
once he felt we got the hang of it (and i stopped hyperventilating) he asked if we were cool enough to be let on our own
after going through 150 bullets and like 12 targets its safe to say that my friend and i got the hang of how to shoot so much so we came back monday night to shoot a couple new pistols, a s&w m&p, and a springfield xd
what i really liked about this place is the guns who work there ae super down to earth and friendly
while waiting for hector i asked the guys behind the counter if they had any tips for first time shooters and they came up with a couple things to let us know not to be such noobs
pricing is pretty cheap, although i wish they supplied you with 50 bullets for 18 $ like lagc
but them charging for one gun and letting you switch out and trying different types of guns is well worth it.
parking is pretty tight but there is plenty of street parking available
and the only downside is its kinda a tiny range (im from the sgv and La Puente has a 15000sq ft range) theres roughly 15 lanes maybe less at TR so youre pretty lucky if you and your party can get one. they seem to be pretty busy
they had a lot of patrons friday around 1pm and even more on a monday at 5pm while raining
their pricing, and customer service really do set them aside from other ranges
would definitely go back!

was taught by hector, pretty cheap pricing, great customer service, not a lot of parking but well worth the experience. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would go back

Just started shooting here. The staff is really friendly and helps with whatever you needs. Purchased a weapon and got a discount on my membership. The purchase went quick and easy. Great place.

I went to this range for the first time the day before thanksgiving to check it out and get a little shooting in. I just want to say my experience here was great. The atmosphere was awesome and the guys here are great. I was looking around through the gun prices and they are definitely competitive with everyone out there. I was somewhat skeptical about this place but the guy who helped me was awesome! I don’t remember his name but he had glasses and a dodger hat on. He made me feel very comfortable with the way things work around the range and was very attentive and cheerful with the customers after me. I will definitely be coming here from now on for my indoor shooting and next gun purchase. Thanks guys.

As a gun collector, I bought some of my 9 mm handguns here, a CZ 75B, Glock 17, Glock 34, H&K USP9 and an XD9, primarily because the store is a relatively short drive from my house. I also transferred from out of state a Colt 1911 1070XSE using this store, with a little bit of delay. But I think once I am done DROS’ing with this store my Browning Hi Power Mark III that also came from out of state, this store has the last of my business.
Let me explain. Today, 11/​25/​2015, I got a notification from UPS at 12:41 p.m. saying that my Browning has arrived from out of state and has been received by the store. But when I went to the store at 4:00 p.m., I was told that the gun is not yet in their inventory. They said I have to wait for their call before I can start the DROS of the gun.
Fools! Days before, I already paid them their FFL transfer fee, the California sales tax for the gun and the DROS fee. All they have to do is check their UPS shipment, confirm that the shipment is there and start the paperwork, because I am not yet picking up the gun from their store. There is still a 10-​day waiting period to pick the gun anyway. And they insist that I have to wait for their call to inform me that the gun is in their inventory!
Their store hours is advertised to be up to 10:00 p.m. But the day went by without any call from the store. Obviously, these people are running a very inefficient operation and don’t give a damn about customer service.
Lesson: If you have to buy a gun from out of state, don’t use the FFL transfer service of this store.

Awesome shooting range! Hubby brought me here for my birthday which I wasn’t expecting but so glad the first time was here!
First of all Hector was our instructor and I have to say he was very knowledgeable and he made us feel completely comfortable since it was our first time. I was super scared at first but after all the talk he gave us I was ready.
At first he was with us while we shot our first rounds just to make sure we were doing everything correct. After he saw we were use to it he let us be and have fun. Great experience and I definitely want to come back here!

First time going to a shooting range for quite some time. I initially was looking for a place that also sold guns in the event that I decide to purchase one after trying some out. I only chose this place due to the great reviews that people were giving. I can see why. The staff there was very friendly and courteous. The Target Range is the best.

Have not gone there to shoot, yet! But the times I have gone in or asked questions in person or by e-​mail …They have been very nice people!

Happy Birthday to me, oh oops, it wasn’t my birthday. Came here with my wife for her birthday.
It was very easy setting up a class with them. Our instructor was Hector who was absolutely amazing. Was very clear and thorough on instructions on how to handle a gun. It was both our first times and we really enjoyed it.
It is located in a quiet business street in Van Nuys by the airport which makes sense so people don’t complain. The outside has some parking but there was plenty of street parking at the time of our session (6pm) as well.
When you walk in you are definitely overwhelmed with many options of guns. The guys at the counter are welcoming and offer to help right away. We did get there early so had to wait for a bit, in their test room, for our class but it was worth the wait. The prices are not bad at all either, not that I have been to others, but the classes for two people I thought was fair priced. It was a full almost two hours with the instructor and every bit of information was worth it.
After having a few shooting targets with the instructor he left us to have fun ourselves which was nice. Many lanes available and many many options on guns, and options on what to use.
I will definitely be back here asap to have more fun.
If you are in the area and never tried this, make an effort to do it and see what you think about guns after trying this.

Nice friendly, helpful staff. Unlike other ranges I could mention like the one in Burbank. Great place to shoot, good selection of guns.

Have to start off by saying I have to my fair share of gun ranges, there are pros and cons for all the places I have been to. The staff at The Target Range was definitely the friendliest and most willing to answer questions out of all the ranges I have visited.
A special thank you goes to MIKE TIONGSON for just being very friendly and making the experience of my two friends that much better, it was their first time shooting guns and being that they were female, they were somewhat shocked about the entire experience because it was completely counter to what they had heard about staff at gun ranges being unwilling to assist or just plain rude to newbies.
Prices for .45acp ammunition was also very fair to purchase from the store there. I know where I’ll be taking any new shooters from now on, highly recommend this place if you’re a beginner or a veteran

First time was over the weekend.
Great place for your shooting fix. It would be nice to shoot my rifles, but over all, easy to find, staff was really cool, and great variety to choose from. I will definitely be coming back.

If you never been shooting it’s a great place to go to, wide variety of handguns. The only thing is the location is small!

The staff hands down the best, so fucking cool. Very knowledgeable, brought my new sig here about an hour before closing. Not only did they add a lil lube to it so I didn’t ruin it, they hooked me up and straight cleaned it for me before using it.
Love this place, can’t find better service any where.
And I’m not awesome I’m just me, you guys are the awesome ones. Thanks for everything guys, best ever…

Great place. Feel very safe. They always willing to help and answer any questions I have.
Many times they are busy and you can tell they work fast to get to you. They are not lazy. They all know a lot about guns and explain any issues.

Guns usually scare me, and people at gun ranges usually creep me out but the people at this place were super nice and very informative, and they def made me feel safe because they were constantly aware of everyone’s actions around them. The space does feel a little bit crowded because the lanes are super close to each other and I wish their lanes were longer but I love how they have soooooo many different guns for rent or buy… Anyways we left happy :)

I’m 7 years long overdue on writing this review. Ever since I was 18 years old, I have been a member at this place and not one time did I feel unwelcome or uneasy.
If you consider only the establishment, it’s no bigger or better than any other range. However, what sets them apart is customer service. I don’t mean to point a finger *cough* Miles, Dave, and Chris *cough* in particular have always treated me not just as a member, but as a friend. Between shooting and being able to ask any question without hesitation, I also enjoy just talking to these guys in general because they are always ready and willing to help and you can see it!
On a side note, between my home and the 18 or so miles I have to travel to shoot here, there are plenty of ranges I have been to before, and they don’t even come close to this place. I learned how to shoot in this range, I have taken many friends here, and I made friends by being a frequent (not so much now) client.

This is my indoor home range of choice for gun shooting. The staff is friendly and very helpful, and the prices and services are exceptional. They have everything you need tonpractice shooting, including targets, ammunition, and even loaner weapons.
The staff is eager to share information and very knowlegable. If younhabe a need or desire with firearms, they can help you, if the need and desire is for California legal gear!
