Patty’s Pet Spa

I had a similar experience with Patty as the previous reviewer. Mood swings, very strange, highly defensive about her daughter’s errors, and when I broached the subject w/​Patty she hung up on me as well. She’s a gifted dog groomer but seems to be a troubled person. Too much drama. Also, Patty chain smokes. Ironically, my dog would come home from «Patty’s Pet Salon» soft and clean but wreaking of 2^nd hand smoke. The shop smells of smoke. Her pricing is erratic. Last visit was $ 95.00, prior was $ 65.00, for the same job. She has no set price list for services –

Went to get my cat a lion cut. Prices are much lower than other places that I looked into and my cat came out looking great! Unsure of the place upon arrival, I asked a customer who was walking out of the spa and asked her about her experience with patty. She had nothing but great things to say and told me that she had followed patty from her previous grooming job and has been a regular customer for years. I really recommend this place to anyone! Patty and her daughter are personable and passionate about pets.

My dogs have been seeing Patty for almost a decade. They always come back to me looking like a million bucks — clean, cut, and smelling good. Her prices are so reasonable and her work is incredible, I wouldn’t and haven’t taken them anywhere else.

Patty is wonderful! We have two German Shepherds who really dislike bath time. She is so loving and kind, that they don’t seem to mind it with her! They always give her kisses when we go to pick them up! Her prices are great, and the doggies are fluffy, and spotless (no easy task!). We are so happy we found Patty, have been going regularly, and will continue to use her.

I love Patty’s Pet Spa! I’ve been taking my Maltese to her for years and now I have a one year old Shih tzu in addition. She is the best groomer I’ve ever used and it is obvious she loves dogs. When I take my dogs to be groomed they wag their tags and can hardly wait to see her. That says a lot, especially for my 12 year old Maltese who can be «resistive» for me at times. My dogs look gorgeous when done and her prices are really reasonable; and, she always work around my schedule. I would never consider using another groomer as, Patty is the best!!!

I love this place! Not only do they do an amazing job, but it’s so nice to talk to the owner instead of a receptionist who wont let you see whose grooming your pet or every month they change groomers. Very professional and know what they are doing! We have tried many places in the Valley and we will now be coming here every month. BTW, we have been there three times! Try Patty’s Pet Spa, you won’t be disappointed!

VERY HAPPY with the attention to detail and loving care from this independently owned small business pet spa. Will take my 3 dogs here vs. Petco ANYTIME! Patty is a true dog lover and even my skiddish scaredy cat big dog smiles in her arms upon seeing her. Prices are reasonable. Very highly recommend! She recently moved to this new location so I encourage you to try her out and support her as she grows here in Van Nuys.

Patty is clearly a professional who loves doggies. She knows what she’s doing and does so with compassion and flair.
I bring my little tiny cocker spaniel to her and she goes in looking like complete trash, and comes out looking like a cute little noodle.
I recommend Patty to anyone looking for a fantastic and well-​priced groomer.

Patty is fantastic! She has such a great way of making my dogs feel comfortable & relaxed despite the fact that they hate getting their nails trimmed.
Their new location is definitely a work in progress as far as the décor goes but make no mistake, they are fantastic!

The best groomer that I have ever used for my dog. She treats my old man gently and he always comes out looking amazing. Even better, she is always able to work around my schedule, not the other way around.

Been going to Patty for years, she has always been a good groomer, she does know what she is doing. Now she has employed her daughter who has no people skills, and cannot communicate the basic info. Drop my dog off at 10:30 a.m., said i would be able to pick her up after 3:00, called at 5;00 p.m. and was told she would not be ready until 6:00 p.m., told them my concerns about her being there all day and just got SORRY! Arrived at 6:00 p.m. my dog was still on the table not ready until 6:30. On way home my dog had diarrhea all over car and found a couple fleas. Called Patty to let her know what happened, she was very conformational and had absolutely no compassion and blamed me for not being more specific. Problem, daughter, no communication, Patty protecting her daughter outcome my seven year old sheep dog suffers. Called Patty again to try to resolve and was hung up on. If you could care less about service and don’t mind being at the mercy of Patty’s mood swings, she is your groomer. But if you care about your dog and how you are treated as a customer defiantly go some were else. Good luck!

I am giving this groomer 2 stars (instead of zero!) because up until my last experience, I would have said the service was decent & the price was good, worthy of 2 stars.
I went to Patty’s over 2 years ago before I moved to WEHO & she always did a decent job on my shit-​zu, not the best, but good & her prices were really good, plus I love to support a small business owner.
My boyfriend lives by her new shop location & I thought «GREAT», I will take my two dogs back to her now, since I have been paying $ 60 per dog in WEHO.
So, now to my last experience…
I dropped my dogs off at 2. They are suppose to be done by 5, 6 at the latest.
I get a phone call at 4:30 saying «they were already running behind when I dropped them off» & my dogs will now be finished at 7:30. I explained I had dinner res’es at 7 & that my boyfriend requires I bathe the dogs before they can stay there.
…So, I could not pick them up any later than 6:30 & at least needed them bathed. They say no problem, we will do grooming too, just give us till 6:30. I think GREAT, right? WRONG!
I arrive at 6:30, fully dressed in heels for an important work dinner, & my new dog is in a kennel in the front area, smelling worse than when I dropped him off. She did not groom him because she says he was a difficult dog. This is simply ABSURD– every person who knows my dog is literally SHOCKED when I tell this story because he is the easiest dog.
And yet, it gets worse! I pick my dog up, who joyfully springs from his kennel & I discover there is poop stuck in his bum hairs. She LITERALLY scared my dog to the point that he DEFECATED himself! She apparently used some sort of device or contraption to get him out of the kennel, when she could have simply opened the door & he would run out, into anyone’s arms, on his own. Patty even goes as far as to accuse me of coming all the way to her because the last groomer must not be willing to take him!
At this point, after hearing many lame excuses, I am late for my work dinner. I pay for my other dog, & rush out of there
When I get home, my boyfriend is appalled at the HORRID job she did on my shit-zu’s face (body looked fine), his jagged nails cut my legs, & she did not expel his gland (oh, I must Thank you patty, for the additional vet bill & separate trip to take care of that).
We put my other dog in his kennel, went to our dinner & I had the pleasure of skipping drinks on a Friday night, to come home at 10pm to bathe & blow-​dry my dog.
The next day, I take him across the street to a random place called bubbles, simply for convenience. They didn’t seem to think he was a difficult dog at all (nor does my regular WEHO groomer). Hmmm, interesting!
BOTTOM LINE:
I do understand that dogs are animals & you cannot always predict their behavior or response. I understand that this «contraption» may be standard for groomers… I can be understanding of many things…
So honestly, the BIGGEST problem with Patty’s Pet Spa, is Patty! She was COMPLETELY rude to me, a repeat customer at that, with no apologies. She can tell me all the excuses she wants to explain herself, but there is NO EXCUSE for how rude and inappropriate she was. If she had opened with an apology instead of accusations, things would have been VERY different.
If you go to this groomer, you will most likely have a good experience (as I always had in the past), get a mediocre job, and a great price. (I now understand, why she can’t charge $ 60 like all the other groomers in town).
… but you are taking a chance with this one.

Great job, they make my dog feel comfortable. Every time we go there, the dogs are very happy on their way back.

I drive all the way across town in order to bring my dog to Patty’s Pet Spa. Why? Because Patty’s simply is the best groomer in LA! We have been bringing our dogs to Patty for more than 15 years. She is extremely good at grooming and all our dogs have LOVED her. There was never a time I felt uncomfortable dropping my dog off for a bath or a haircut. Her prices are more affordable than most of the other groomers on the west side of town. She’s a Pro!

She’s now on Sepulveda, across from Costco more or less. Great new space and same great service. We have a poodle mix who isn’t very social and she loves going there. Patty is great with animals and she does great work!

I find it obnoxious that a vendor would discriminate against any dog breed without first learning about the dog itself. Horrible service.

Patty is amazing! The first time I brought my shaggy dog in he came out looking like a million bucks, but for a super reasonable price. Great cut, great customer service. A+!
