Receptionist was rude and so short with me. No customer service. Their inspectors are nice guys but office is not the best.

I was referred to McKernan Inspections years ago by my mother after she had used their services twice before. When we bought our new house we used McKernan and were extremely satisfied with their service.
We inherited a home recently which needed termite tenting and I called and spoke with owner Frank McKernan, he was extremely helpful and shared a great deal of information with me.
I told him we are looking for a new home and Frank let me know how changes over the years made termite extermination negotiable when purchasing a new home.
I was surprised by the negative reviews I read here and I asked Frank about them and we had a long discussion about it. It seems that some clients who are disgruntled were buyers of homes whose owners forced them to pay for the extermination.
Nevertheless, I appreciate how professional and how easy it is to reach Frank McKernan. He’s a great guy and if anyone has any problems with his company I suggest you give Frank a call!!!

Called them to get an estimate for termite fumigation and repair. they asked me to pay $ 100 for an estimate. No Thanks! i guess they are busy enough that they don’t need our business, especially since their competitors don’t charge for estimates.

BEWARE: I have significant concerns about the timeliness and ethics of this company. This company was foisted upon me as part of the escrow process for the inspection and then certain work on my property. Remarkably, I was told for the first time the day before escrow was scheduled to close and when the work was supposed to be completed that there was a «problem» and that it was unclear what the scope of additional work or completion date would be. The company supervisor was unapologetic and, among other things, kept saying that he needed to conduct further inspections citing the buyer’s rights. I informed him that (i) the inspection period was over (there had been numerous inspections of all types with both sides’ agents present), (ii) the buyer had waived the inspection contingency, and (iii) that the supervisor needed to deal with my agent on this issue. Yet, the supervisor showed up the next day and announced that he was going to conduct an additional inspection of the property before he was scheduled to meet with my agent (and unbeknownst to my agent). This company seems more interested in trying to find additional work for itself than completing its obligations in a timely and professional way. Try someone more diligent and scrupulous. I intend to!

Very disappointing. Got the old bait and switch after they already started the job. Will never use them again.

I think this company’s estimates are unnecessarily high. I think there are many other pest control companies that are far more reasonable.

Purchased and moved into my house having to pay for termite inspection. This company came highly recommended by my realtor. The house is old, definite termite damage, needed both replacement of supporting some beams under the house and tenting. Felt like I payed for something that would help the longevity of the house and was happy to pay for it. Three years later I decided to replace the rotting deck attached to my house and found that the replacement boards installed by this company first of all were not pressure treated boards (first mistake) and were sitting in rotted out sills which if you don’t know are the boards that directly on top of a raised foundation. Also the support boards that were installed for the most part very loose and capable of being moved by hand, in other words not nailed or screwed directly to the house properly.

Great company! Was almost scared off by the not-​so-​professional receptionist, but glad I wasn’t. Talked to one of the head honchos and realized that they actually care about and understand their business. It’s a mom and pops company, but they 1) really understand their stuff 2) will explain it to you patiently and well 3) were one of only 2 companies out of 7 (just counted) who gave us estimated who actually went into the attic and crawl space to check for termites 4) came in way cheaper than the other companies for tenting, but didn’t even try to upsell us with tenting. Terminix gave us a ridiculously large quote, some locals gave us quotes matching Terminix because although they are small companies, they farm out tenting to a subcontractor. Orkin was the only other company to do a thorough inspection, and theirs was free. McKernan’s inspection cost, but it was worth the money and saved as a few grand in the end. It’s been 2 or 3 months and the termites are gone and I’m glad someone referred them to us. I may update this when I find my notes to remember who tromped dirt in our house, who knocked down cables off the roof while looking and didn’t notice, etc. Maybe it’ll save others some trouble.

I can’t say I have a great deal of experience with a Termite Fumigation Company, but I would guess that most of us don’t! And if we do, it’s hopefully only a couple of times in our lives… I was just fumigated this past weekend… and I cannot say it was a «Pleasure», however, these guys (Tim & Frank & Ralph) did indeed make a difficult time so much easier. They answered questions patiently, made themselves available for more questions, and left my home in terrific shape. I highly recommend them if you ever need this kind of service. (PS: it’s not as horrible as it may seem!)

part of their service was to come and repair some of the damaged wood (this is not a free service. this is paid for in addition) and they have nice guys, but they are not great in the area of communication… and timeliness.
I wish I could have given them 5 stars, but it is very telling when a company is essentially «finished» with a job… how they follow up… and the follow up is poor.

I had a horrible termite problem and was recommended by my monthly pest sprayer to McKernan. I had read numerous reviews about how companies inflate this work and was very wary. The inspector showed up on time, gave me a quote, and it was way lower than what I had thought. The infestation looked rampant and I was sure that they would have to tent the house. They treated it locally, and did not try to sell me monthly termite service or anything. They did the work quickly, and I was beyond pleased! I have not had a termite problem since. I have another pest problem and have called them as I completely trust them to do the work. Would highly recommend them and use them again.

I hired another termite inspection company that informed my buyers they had to replace an entire deck because of a termite infestation. I called McKernan Inspections and they treated the problem locally last week — saving everyone time and money. Since the buys were a bit hesitant of the first recommendation to have the entire deck replaced, I hired three other Termite companies to check it out and none of them could find ANYTHING.
I am telling everyone to use McKernan Inspections from now on.

There is nobody better than McKernan Inspections! They carry a very efficient and respectful team. Inspectors are not on commission, therefore you will always receive the utmost honest recommendations.
You will not be let down!

Negative stars. A million negative stars for this company. Because of an escrow disclosure we were coerced into using this company and I cannot express just how terrible they were to work with.
During termite tenting the crew broke 60 tiles — information that the owner, Frank, told me he was going to get to me via a report. I had to call 4 times in order to get this information.
The phone operators were incredibly rude and transferred me to dead extensions. When I left a message with someone, my call was not returned. I had to call back in order to hound them into giving me the information.
One crew member was 2 hours late to an appointment, information he had passed on to his office and NOBODY called me to let me know. It took 5 calls to find out what was going on.
The owner says one thing on the phone and then says the opposite when I called him back.
Just terrible. Don’t use them.
