Earl Scheib of Van Nuys

I’ve been shopping around different Body Shops to get my car repainted: Maaco, Body Collision, etc. This place had the most competitive price and they did a really great job. They also took care of scratches, cracks, and chips that were on my car. John, the manager, was very helpful and gave me an amazing price compared to other places. I wish i would have taken ‘before’ pictures so you can see how great it looks now.

John, is without a doubt the most honest Operator you will ever deal with. They took my 1989 Toyota Van repainted it a new color and truly transformed it into a brand new vehicle. They fixed some serious rust around the windshield at no charge and replaced the front windshield at half the price of any of the glass companies. In addition they replaced all the parts I had removed and did a full detail on the entire vehicle. There was no overspray on anything and I am totally happy. This should be your first choice!

My car was sun damaged and faded on the roof and hood for about three years. It was embarrassing! After going to several body shops for estimates, I found this place for HALF THE PRICE!!! John, the Manager, was straight up honest and to the point. I decided to have my faded emerald green car turned into a modern metallic blue. It looks AWESOME!!!
These guys are honest and really work with your budget. Check them out if you need paint on your ride!

I fixed my Two cars (Mercedes C230, Infiniti G35 coupe) and refer to my friend so he can fix he’s.
Every time job was done good for great price and in promised time frame.
Both managers, John and Carlos are outstanding and pleasant to deal with.
If I have ever another vehicle to paint again, I am definitely coming back.

I have a Ford Ranger that needed some body work and I wanted to get a paint job. John Hodgins was very helpful in helping me decide which way to go. His professionalism along with his whole staff was amazing, I’ve never felt so at ease with leaving my truck another place like i did at John’s. When I got the call that my Ranger was ready I jumped in the car with my boyfriend, we pulled into the shop and I was absolutely floored. I couldn’t believe what an amazing job they did. It looked like a brand new right off the showroom floor truck. I am taking all my business as well as family and friends to Earl Scheib of Van Nuys.

Excellent service, excellent work, very polite manager, full paint my 2002 Camry in two days. Couldn’t be better.

Ok, so where to begin.
I brought in my cadillac for an estimate, needed some body work and a new paint job. I guess it was slow the day that I came in because John the manager gave me a hard sale. Quoted me a good price and even offered to drive me home, very nice of him. I spent about an hour there going over the body work that needed to be done as well as picking out a new color for the car. He said it would be done in three day.
Three days later I got a call that my car was done. I came to the shop. They had painted my car the wrong color!!! It was originally black and I was having it changed to silver. They had painted it black. John offered me to discount the price or redo it. I chose to redo it. They told me to bring it back in a couple days because they had to let the paint harden before they could redo it.
Im glad I chose to redo it because upon further inspection of the job they did I was appalled. There were literally dried drops of paint on the car. There was dust particles under the paint, and the whole thing had an ‘orange peal’ coat to it. (means that when they put on the clear coat the gun setting was off) Not to mention the ‘body work’ was really bad. They had put a screw in the side of my car and just painted over it! leaving the head sticking out! They hadn’t even fixed the mirror (tried to glue it on cheaply, guess they thought I wouldn’t notice)
So I took it back at the appointed time to get it redone. I pointed out all the poor workmanship to John and he tried to flip it around that it was somehow my fault!
Total dick move!
They had promised me a rental car for the time I had to take it in a second time. Of course the story changed when I got there, they said they would pay for one day of rental but it was going to take them three days to do the car because they were really busy. Mind you, we are in week 2 of a ‘three day ’ process.
Ok, so three days later I get a call to pick up my car:
Holy shit more problem! I roll up and first notice that the vinyl top looks weird… It was covered in a think layer of paint dust! I mean thick. I pointed it out and they begrudgingly washed it. It didn’t come off, I literally had to sit there for an hour and make sure they cleaned the mess they made.
Then I noticed that they didn’t fix part of the molding on the driver side window that they said they were going to fix and it had popped up when the paint was wet totally messing up the paint!
At this point the owner Carlos was there and I pointed this out to him. He was nice about it and said he would fix it the next week!
So I return again, a third time! today, to get the door fixed. Again John is giving me attitude, as if it is my fault that he workers are not doing a good job and that I am assertive enough to make sure I get what I pay for. I noticed that there was a spot on the hood they had completely missed! I pointed it out to John and his response was: you didn’t tell us last time you were here…
wtf man! I paid over a grand for a good paint job and your giving me attitude because you didn’t check the work properly!
Bottom line: I had to bring my car in three times and ride their ass in order to get decent work done. Carlos the owner is cool, but John the manager needs an attitude check. Took over three weeks to get the job done.
In the end it looks good, but it wouldn’t unless I had been there to assert myself.
Be careful with these people!

My car was totally different shades of white. Also, the hood was slightly bent my dad decided to bring it here for an estimate. When I got my car back it was like a totally brand new car. The paint was awesome and the hood was replaced and was also painted to match the car. Their service was fast and its great quality.

They did a great job on XB, even polished out my head lights, John promised the car in 3 days, and it was done perfectly. I would recommend them highly!

My son has a PT Cruiser and he had dislocated the front bumper after driving over a parking block. It was just hanging there. I intended to by my son a new car but I wanted to sell this one first so I knew I needed to have this bumper fixed but I didn’t want to pay a lot of money. I had a great experience with another auto body business and went there first for a quote. It was over $ 1100! I went to another place near my home and it was near the same price. A friend suggested I try Earl Scheib and I found this one in Van Nuys. They quoted me less than half that plus they also noticed the paint oxidation on the roof of the car and said they would also do that for another $ 200! Deal! When we picked up the car we were shocked… that work was excellent and the car looked brand new. No signs of the ugly paint and the bumper was perfect. They did it all in a day and a half! I highly recommend this place; great value, great service, friendly place, and great prices.

They did wonderful job on my 2004 Toyota Celica, changed the color from silver to black & now my car looks brand new again. John was very helpful with getting me exactly what I was looking for & got my car back in just 3 days.

This auto paint shop is the very best in VAN NUYS. They know how to satisfy the client from the time you bring your car until the car had been fix. Very affordable rates! Took my 1997 camry in to get re-​painted. The roof and trunk clear coat started peeling and looking bad. They re painted the car along with the bumpers to match and the car looks new. They even took care of some small body work at no charge. The prices are fair and the workmanship was excellent. I would highly recommend them, over the guys down the street which quoted me almost three times the price.

Didn’t need the whole car painted, just the roof. John, the Manager, talked with me and gave me a quote for the entire car and just the roof. He agreed that only the roof needed painted and did not try to up-​sell me. Felt real comfortable with the honesty. Gave them the car, and 2 days later got the beautifully done car back, along with 1 other job that I had them do for me after I had already given them the car. Pricing was great and their price was better than the other clowns (Name withheld) down the street.
Again 5 star for great work guys and honestly done.

People love to bash places like Earl Scheib, but all I can say is, none of them have ever had a paint job done by them. This store has done a few cars for me over the years, and every time they did a great job.
On the rare occasion where there was an issue, they fixed it immediately, no hassles.
I’d recommend them and will use them again.

I had a great experience with this auto /​body /​paint shop. I brought my convertible for a complete paint job plus fixing my broken bumper. Carlos did a great job and was far less expensive than all the other shops I visited. I dropped my car off friday afternoon and they called me on Monday to tell me it was ready. He even let me know he added a clear coat to help protect my car’s paint for years to come.

So I went and their workers were doing the blame game no one wanted to take the blame for it. Than they came to an agreement with each other and came after me saying that the speaker was like that already cuz of the hit on the door. … so than the chubby guy who works with the estimates started giving me a attitude saying that is was already like that and so much stuff. I ignored him and talk to the manager he just started telling me their not reliable for that and their not a audio store .no fucking way I thought I read u guys were a body shop … the guy was giving BS to not pay for it. than he said that he didn’t know whether if the speakers worked or not… how are u not going to know when u expected my car u checks the damage the miles and gasoline right? He didn’t make me pay for the handles that hold the door which were $ 65. that was one of his excuse but now I have to replace my 50 $ pioneer speakers … I’d ur going to give me a good price but ur going to do damage on other places than don’t do it. … trust me don’t go here they don’t care for cars they give them back all dirty. they can at least shower it with water… but they left my scion so dirty that now I got to get someone to shampoo my seats professionally … I believe the speaker was damaged when they took off the door mount and all that dust inside it. … trust me don’t get here they don’t give a crap of ur interior nor the body

What can I say about this Earl Scheib?
Quality:
I had a serious dent and scratch on the side of my Mazda and the guys at Earl Scheib gave it a look and told me to not worry and made some calls and got my car looking like new for real cheap. They replaced the entire part that was damaged and the paint job looked seamless and again it was all cheap. I was very cool with that. They don’t make you wait long.
Location:
One, it’s the only one open in the Valley as far as I can tell. Two, I’m not sure there’s any other place I’d want to go to and why? They aren’t corporate owned. Each Earl Scheib is run by their own owners. The owner of the Van Nuys location is a very good guy and he’s just looking to make a deal and do some business. Oh and there’s some good places to eat around there while you wait. Can’t lose there.
