Cornucopia Caterers

Elliot and his entire team at Cornucopia Caterers continue to shine. My organization — the LA-​based MVAT Foundation — has been the beneficiary of their incredible cooking and their efficient and fun staff. For several years now they have provided breakfast buffets, boxed gourmet sandwich lunches, and sumptuous dinner buffets for our premier fundraising event. Success this year was at a new highpoint. The final event of our day-​and-​half August event was a buffet dinner for 400 guests featuring an absolutely delicious steak with chimichurri sauce. To die for! As I noted at the beginning, the staff is a big reason to work with Cornucopia Caterers. Great attitudes, friendly smiles, and always willing to go the extra mile to make the event the best it can be.

I was a guest at a dinner and the food was really good so good that I wrote a review as an out of towner. Particularly the 20 plus hour brisket! So fall apart good and probably the best i have have ever had (sorry mom in law). Also had a bite or two of the white fish with lemon butter and capers which was another nice option but pick the brisket if you have a choice!

If you’re on Unilocal researching caterers for your wedding, stop looking. Cornucopia is the BEST! I got married 6 months ago and people are still talking about how AMAZING the food was. I should have written this sooner but hopefully I catch the rest of you brides/​grooms in time as you plan your wedding.
Most people focus on the dress, the flowers or music but we were the most concerned about the food. We met with two other caterers but CC was the only company who set up the meeting at our venue. Andrea walked thru the grounds with us and listened to what we wanted. She made suggestions about where tables and the kitchen should go. She is very detailed and throughout which is great because the hubby is that way too. Instead of handing me a preset menu like the other caterers, Chef Dennis asked us what we like to eat and said he had some ideas. We met them for a tasting the following week and OMG it was so delicious that we had a difficult time choosing between all the options. Another thing to point out is that both Chef Dennis and Andrea worked very closely with us on rentals and food adjustments so we could meet our budget. We really appreciated it.
The day of the wedding… they were a well oiled machine! The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. We ended up running out of champagne and Andrea came to the rescue and ran out and bought more. No one even noticed. including us! Chef Dennis outdid himself and all of the food looked amazing and tasted even better than we remembered from the tasting. People would not stop talking about it!

Before I post my review, let me thank EVERYONE at Cornucopia for the most fantastic job at my son’s Bar Mitzvah. YOU WERE ALL GREAT!!!
We found out about CC at an event at our temple. I commented to my wife how great the food was (past experiences weren’t so good) and that we should grab a card and call for an estimate. Once we connected with them and discussed our needs, they suggested we come in and pick out what would work best for the kids and the adults. We met with Elliot and Dennis and they carefully listened to what we were saying. They are great and suggesting foods that works in these situations. Anyway, we were given a wonderful list of choices to review on our own with our son and the next step was reviewing the set up and decorations. My wife and I are both pretty creative so we were going to handle most of if but we still needed someone to set up and direct everything for the day. In steps Denise with a big smile and a willingness to accommodate what ever we needed. My wife and I decided what food would work and told Denise who then set up a food tasting evening with Elliot, Dennis and my family. It was here that solidified how great these people are. They did everything we wanted, they gracefully dealt with our back and forth of «add 2 adults, take out 3 kids… add in an adult, add 4 kids…» and all the nuttiness that goes with planning an event. We knew we were in good hands and at the right place. GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT FOOD and very reasonable prices. From the appealing appetizers to the fabulous food and decadent desserts, CORNUCOPIA CATERERS are the best.

Cornucopia is awesome! My wife and I hosted my mom’s 65^th birthday party and used Cornucopia and literally could not be happier with the result. Everyone commented on how good the food was and Cornucopia was very easy to work with. They slow-​cooked the short ribs for 4 DAYS and man could you taste it! Grilled veggies were delicious and the potatoes were great too. If you’re looking for caterer you can be confident will deliver on the day, then look no further.

After a million «no’s», Cornucopia gave us the «yes» that mattered! Not only did they work with our budget but went above and beyond for us! Andrea is amazing, organized, professional and very sweet. And Dennis is an amazing chef! Everyone at our wedding loved the food! It was a pleasure working with Cornucopia. We highly recommend them and would definitely hire them in the future.

I’m going to be painfully honest here. The (second) most important thing to me going into my wedding was the food. I learned to appreciate things like flowers and décor through the wedding planning process, but when my wife and I started talking about our wedding, all I could focus on was what I was going to eat that day.
I’m in my late 30s. I’ve been to many weddings in my life. What I learned from all of these is nobody cares about anything but the food. So when it was my turn, my wife and I spent some time looking for good catering, and budgeted accordingly.
Eventually we found Cornucopia. Our initial correspondence with them was very promising. We wanted something simple and rustic– something like skirt steak and some sides, served family-​style, maybe with some fish as well. After we had our tasting, we knew Chef Dennis was our guy. As for the fish, Dennis mentioned something about sea bass.
On the big day, Andrea, Dennis, and the rest of the Cornucopia staff delivered on every promise. The food was delicious. It was so good — and I only noticed this just now, as I was looking for photos to add to my review– that none of my guests took the time to take photos of the food. I know this because we had one of those instagram hashtag/​social media things the kids are all into these days. Out of hundreds of tagged photos, 0 pictures of the food (which is a shame, because the food looked as delicious as it tasted). I have friends who seem to take pictures of nothing but food, but it wasn’t the case that day.
Everyone was too busy savoring the delicious skirt steak and God’s Own Sea Bass, along with the accompanying dishes to bother with cameras. The starter salad, a crunchy and refreshing jicama and grapefruit number, opened my eyes to what starter salads could be. Thanks Dennis, for making me consider possibilities beyond kale and butter lettuce.
My only regret is that I was not able to sit at the big tables and inhale the food like everyone else. The best I could do was steal bits of sea bass from my wife while she was distracted by friends seeking photos with the bride and groom. (I’m in those photos too, but I wasn’t about to let some cameras interfere with the second most important part of my day.)
In sum: I urge all my single friends to hire Cornucopia to cater their weddings, so I may fully enjoy the great food and service they provide.

We used Cornucopia Caterers for our wedding this fall. My husband and I had a hard time selecting a catering company that we could find within our budget, and Cornucopia was the clear winner after many tastings. Chef Dennis is FANTASTIC and has great suggestions for whatever theme you are looking to go with. He was great to work with, very attentive to any questions I had about the menu, especially as our date creeped up. The entire catering staff was kind, professional, and charismatic. We had an outdoor reception and served skirt steak, chicken, tamales, rice w/​cilantro for dinner and all of it was amazing!!! We had just as many amazing comments about the dinner as we did with the hors d’oeuvres. The jalapeño mac and cheese balls seemed to be the guests favorites. And dessert!!! Dennis made some pretty incredible s’mores cupcakes and mini cronuts. Overall, everything was fantastic and I am THRILLED that we went with Cornucopia Caterers. We will always recommend them to anyone in the Los Angeles area.

These guys are really fantastic. We just had our wedding catered by them and they did an outstanding job with the food and rentals. The prices are reasonable and my guests said that the black cod dish was the best fish they had ever had! The chef is young and imaginative and was able to carry out a mélange of russian and asian food flawlessly. I am using them for all of my future parties.

We couldn’t have been happier! Our Bar Mitzvah this past weekend was a huge success due mostly to the food and the ease of planning from Marcy and her staff. Marcy makes herself available, both by phone/​email and in person which really made everything run especially smooth. She’s upfront about everything and very flexible and understanding with all your changes and concerns. We didn’t go overboard with a «theme» but because my son loves food trucks, Marcy suggested she could set up food stations like «trucks» with blackboard menus at each one. She helped coordinate some extra décor and lighting we asked for. It was a huge hit, especially with my son. I highly recommend Cornucopia. The food is so delicious and experimental and she will bend over backwards to make things right for you.

Marcy and company helped us plan and cater our recent wedding in Beverly Hills. She looked after us with the care of a mother and I always felt she had our best interests in mind. This includes providing fair prices for incredibly high quality food tailored exactly to what we wanted to serve our guests. Beyond the food, her staff treated our facility with respect and our guests with the highest of service. Highly recommended.

Cornucopia catered a funeral reception at my home for over 100 people and I was impressed with every detail and how the event was handled. They came to my home to see the layout a few days before the event and made recommendations for the set up and the menu. I handed them the keys to my house the day of the funeral and I came home to a beautiful set up in my backyard. The setup was perfection and the food was delicious. They handled every detail so I could relax. They even left my kitchen spotless. They are incredibly nice and eager to please. I highly recommend Cornucopia Caterers. You will not be disappointed!

Great food, wonderful service, will use them again. Had a small event catered, they were right on time, great baked goods. Yummy !

We went with Cornucopia Caterers for our wedding and the food was amazing! Marcy is super sweet, and really knows what she is doing. She can be difficult to get a hold of at times, only because she is sooo busy I think. Also, they didn’t give me a final contract until 3 days before my wedding, which can be really stressful right before you’re about to get married and already juggling a million different other things. But the bottom line is that in the end, I had NO regrets about going with Cornucopia caterers because 1. the food was amazing, I tasted it myself before the wedding and during the wedding, and we heard about how good it was from all of our guests, and 2. the service was also awesome (we heard from our guests and experienced it ourselves). Also, it was not cheap, but neither was the food, it was really quality. So, bottom line, room for improvement business-​wise, but not with the food-​it was perfect, and that was the most important thing for me overall. I honestly wished they were a restaurant so I could have the food that was at our wedding again!

Horrible service. This company was hired for a corporate event. The company had people that didn’t get a chance to eat. When the employees went into the lunch room to get some of the left-​over food, the person managing the catering staff said that the emplyees coundn’t eat the food because it was for the catering staff. Really? The food which was purchased by the company couldn’t be eaten by the employees that they were suppose to be catering for! Unbelievable! Great customer service Cornucopia Caterers! A great way to lose business and loyalty!

Cornucopia catered my wedding on 9−10−11 and they were awesome! I had a challenging outdoor venue, but somehow they managed to come up with a great tasting menu that could be prepared pretty much completely outdoors. And hot food remained hot and cold food remained cold. They were super helpful from the get go and we even got to have a tasting where we had the chance to give feedback and pick our menu items. I was intially going to go with another caterer because their first quote was a little over our budget, however they worked with me and made everything possible. I thought they were very upfront about the prices and I didn’t have any unexpected charges. All my guest raved about the menu: Tri-​tip steak, tequila lime chicken, cous cous salad, roasted veggies, panko crusted macaroni and cheese balls (yum!), ceviche, shrimp with mango salsa amongst other things. I can’t recommend them enough!

We had our daughters Bat Mitzvah a few weeks ago and have to say that Cornucopia was amazing. Their event manager, Marcy Feldman saw that every detail was exactly how we imagined it to be. It was actually even better than expected! We had people calling us for days raving about how incredible the food was. They really went the extra mile for us and we will definitely be telling all of our friends about them.

I’ve eaten at several events catered by Cornucopia and the food is phenomenal! What a spread! They always put out a large variety of foods and are eager to get you anything you want. They’re obviously flexible too because I’ve eaten their food at a Bat Mitzvah party as well as an office holiday brunch. Both events were beautiful and offered great food thanks to Cornucopia. I can’t recommend them more highly.

Used this company for a wedding party. I should have known from the beggining they would be bad, but they came reccommended. Bad communication, lots of last minute pricing changes and hidden charges. VERY overpriced overall. Poorly managed and organzied. They wasted materials I purchased, napkins, cups, candles, food etc. Food was left inside the stove at the venue and it was found 2 weeks later!!! Set-​up looked terrible on the day of event. Just an overall mess!
