Clipper Club Lounge and Bar

Slow slower slowest is how im gonna describe this place. Ambience is great. Calamari and the filet mignon enchilada was awesome. But 2 servers during happy hour. If u like watery margarita this will be ur place. Order coffee maybe 3 hrs before u leave. One server has such a bad attitude. Bill was wrong cuz it was for another table. Took another 40 mins to get our bill. Free parking though with validation. Can I just say … I wont be going there again. There’s more places I can go with better service.

Very nice place to have a drink, quiet environment, friendly staff and bartender Danny. Im giving it four stars because there is no dj or music. Happy hour drinks and food a must.

I’ve been staying there for two weeks now, with two weeks to go. What nakes my evening worthwhile is your server Ally. Always friendly, always attentive. I always make sure to sit in her section to get quality service. She is a value to your staff and my sincere hope is that she is recognized as such. Please make sure she gets well deserrved recognition. One must praise where praise is due.

This is a great little place to eat by the Van Nuys airport. There is a fun lounge with a full bar, and if you want a little more quiet /​romantic setting, there are tables just outside the lounge.
My wife and I came her for a celebration dinner last Friday night and had a great time. I had the roasted chicken and it was juicy and full of flavor. And though most would not expect garlic bread to be very exciting, I have to admit, it was the best garlic bread I have ever had. I think the secret was in the seasonings on the garlic spread.
What really helped to make the evening special was our server, Ally. She did a great job making sure we were taken care of. Her professionalism and sincere desire to be of service really shined. In fact, everyone there was nice. Rogelio made sure our food was delivered nice and hot, and my wife enjoyed her martini from Tom the bartender. It was great evening overall. It exceeded our expectations.

I have been here a few times. I like coming here with friends for a low key evening out. The drinks are good and the really great service very attentive. The lighting is also nice to bright and not too dark.

Great place for happy hour 4−7pm. Right next to Van Nuys air port. Nice lounge great bar tender Tom. Always packed with interesting people. Lots of pilots and jet owners.

I decided once again to visit one of my favorite quite spots to just sit and have a beer peacefully. I mean to say this in a way that implies how fantastic it is. There are never too many people there, it’s at maximum 15, but mostly its 3 or 4 people separately at the bar. Because of this you can go to any of the puffy and comfy seats that are standing in circulation around the bar.
This place is the epitome of a lounge, because it has wonderful dim lighting, little light artistic fans waving back and forth and blowing the ever so slight wind down on you and most of all because as a result of all these reasons, yep you guessed it, you can lounge around the place. It has a very inviting comfortable feeling to it.
I don’t know if I really added anything on top of my previous thoughts on this place, but hopefully I built a better image in the mind of anyone thinking about possibly going.

Wow. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised about this place. Yes, it is the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys. Very odd parking situation where you have to drive to the back of the hotel, get a parking ticket and then figure out you have to enter the middle of the hotel, past the pool, just right of the main lobby entrance is a door for the Clipper Club, on your right.
Once you arrive inside, it feels totally separate from the rest of the hotel. Décor is very nice and comfortable varying from lounge chairs, to partial booth type seating, to bar seating. The Happy Hour food was outstanding for $ 5/​$ 6/​$ 7 pricing (M-​F: 4−7pm) We ordered chicken potstickers, enchiladas (mole sauce was delicious and I am not a mole fan), street tacos and a pizza. My spicy margarita (not happy hour priced) was terrific.
The regular dinner menu was a nice variety of American bar/​Asian/​Mexican fare with reasonable pricing. One sheet — so not an overwhelming menu, which was nice.
You get a pink ticket for parking to exit, too, free parking!

Came here on a Friday night since it was really close. I wasn’t expecting much, but was blown away by the quality of food and drinks. The bartenders, including Jordan, are extremely helpful and our food (landings restaurant) was prepared fairly quickly.
Will definitely be coming back again!
**Hint, hint: the fillet mignon enchilladas are on point.

Fantastic place! Came here with some friends looking for food, drinks and a good time. We hit the jackpot when we came here. Shawn really took care of us and made sure our drinks were full and the food was great. :)

Great happy hour and very friendly staff who always remember your name:) I’ve been here a few times and almost always meet a ‘character’ to have a conversation with.

Everything about my experience here was terrific! Very chill but warm atmosphere and super comfortable to sit and chill, have a bite and a cocktail or so. I wasnt terribly hungry so I had the iceberg wedge and a cup of mac and cheese, goodness they both were very tasty. Crisp iceberg, blue cheese crumbles, bacon, tomatos and creamy blue cheese coating the plate (nice touch) the mac and cheese was divine and just the perfect amount of creamy and well cheesy (i spooned some blue cheese crumbles into mine) so good! However the best part of the night was Shawn who took care of me from behind the bar. Customer service and personality like he has and gives is very rare. He made the experience here exceptional and the reason im giving the 5 star rating. I truly enjoyed myself and look forward to going back.

What a gem! If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere with the highest quality of customer service available, then this is the place to be.
The layout of the lounge makes this place unique. Plenty of comfortable seating around the exterior if you’d rather stay away from the stools at the bar.
Shawn was our bartender, his amazing service along with the great drinks and atmosphere is the reason I will definitely be back.
Highly recommend if your looking to just sit back and enjoy a nice drink!

Where everybody knows your name, they’re always glad you came, and you get cool points for planning happy hour at one of the most unexpected spots in the valley.
I wish the lights were a little dimmer. The lighting is nice and bright, so perfect if you want to say «this is not a date.»

The service is what makes this place special. The drinks are good, the food is fine and the atmosphere is fun. But the service is outstanding.
Shawn was my bartender and within the first few minutes he knew who I was, by name, what kinds of drinks I preferred and had put my food order in. On day 2, he remembered me, what I liked and what the other people in my party wanted. He was friendly and professional. I will definitely be returning!

Nice place to hang out and watch a sports game. Happy hour specials are good too.

Very impressed with this place. Really didn’t expect for such a great experience all and all. Went there after having it in my bookmarks for so long and glad I did. Had a few Kamakaze’s which were really nice and strong. We also had the chips and salsa & buffalo wings of the Haapy Hour menu which were fantastic. I read about their Onion Rings which I had to try as well, terrific. Carlos was the one helping us behind the bar, very friendly and attentive!
Definitely will be back here…

This place is really neat, they have these crazy fans in the air blowing light air on you as they swindle, it’s really got an exotic vibe. I would recommend everyone check out this place simply for the fact that it has a very interesting design to the layout. It’s really a treat to see on the eyes. The drink prices are incredibly fair given how classy the vibe to the place is, and just sitting there is very relaxed.
Shawn made my drinks really tasty and was a very polite bartender as well. So what you have is very nice service, an amazingly designed place with a crazy Tibetan statue and all sorts of interesting other stuff. Plus outside in the hotel lobby they have this old school circle with your finger telephone and little pieces of paper that you can actually make calls on.
It’s just a really nice place, that’s completely hidden from the outside world, but shouldn’t be because it’s a real treat. I look forward to going back.
