Automatic Sprinkler Controls

Steve and his guys did a great job. My sprinkler system was a mess, they came and looked at the current setup, gave me an estimate to fix it, and then came back and took care of everything 2 weeks later. Everything is now working perfectly and more importantly, I’m not wasting water!

This company was a referral. Scheduled an appt. to come out. They said it would be a $ 75 charge for the call. Guy was here for 1.5 hours confirmed the problem and I received a bill for $ 150. What they didn’t tell was it’s $ 75 for the first 30 minutes.
Then I found out from my gardener that some of my sprinkler zones were not working. it turns that when he was at the sprinkler box… he mixed all the wires. There was no power to zones 8 – 9 because they were not clipped back in the right place. It was fixed yesterday by my landscape contractor!!!
I don’t think I’ll be referring them.

The 2^nd star is to give them the benefit of doubt based on other reviews. Otherwise this company won’t allow you to compare prices and leave it «open» so they can get the job started and then when you are stuck with them you have no choice to finish it off. No good energy here. This is hard earned money and consumer have a right to compare to know what they are paying for. I’m sure you can do better.

I had an emergency, water leaking all over in our front yard. They were able to fit me in same day find the problem and take care of the water leak. Professional, nice and affordable. I would use them again in a heart beat, they know how to run a business.

Great experience with Martin and his team. Even though it was a small job, Martin was prompt, thorough, and reasonably priced.

Thanks to Martin and his guys like Steve, we were able to fix what a so-​called professional did when installing a irrigation systems in the backyard. On time, weekend response by phone and email, these people are great.
They fixed, they checked, made recommendations and all at a fair price. I wish I had called them first.
If you need a nozzle, a regulator a line or a valve, just call these great people. You don’t need any body else.

Great work and trustworthy pricing, which is saying a lot in this industry. One company told me I needed a new control box and gave me an estimate of $ 1100 to install and program. When I called Automatic Sprinkler Controls, Martin explained how to open my existing control box to find the date of installation, then advised that it was still too young to require replacement. We scheduled an appointment, Frank came on time (actually early, after calling to see if that was okay), fixed the control box and replaced a few sprinkler heads, and $ 106.34 later everything is working perfectly.

Professional, polite, on-​time, great communication – and this is a small job, the kind of job about which other companies didn’t bother to return my calls. Martin is the only person to call for any yard/​landscape/​sprinkler work and Will and Frank are thorough and careful. Such a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end of job.

We are doing a major yard overhaul — tearing up the old lawn, putting in drip and planter beds, basically starting from scratch. The one thing that has really stood out for us has been who are the real professional companies, and who inexplicably stays in business. Martin is one of the good guys.
We have an old manual turn-​key sprinkler system from, like, the ‘60s or something. Most places haven’t even heard of it. Martin has! Star #1! He came out to take a look at what we wanted (to replace some of the heads with pop-​ups and install drip, reroute zones, etc.). Star #2! NO one else called us back when they found out we had manual. He gave us an estimate, which seemed reasonable for the amount of work (but in fairness, no one else called us back…), but was well out of our budget. We asked for a severely revised estimate with a lot less work done by Martin. Star #3! He did that without any grumbling, even though this now meant 2 free estimates (which I know take way more time than most people give credit), and a best case scenario of a big job turning into a morning romp. The new estimate was well below our newly rethought budget, and he was able to squeeze us in within the next week — which really is Star #4 because when I tried to reschedule because of work conflicts, he was booked up until the end of the month, but wanted to squeeze us in because we are trying to do the reimbursement from the city and are on a deadline. Star #5 is for the work itself — great job! Retrenched, fixed broken heads, put in pop-​ups for our drip…
He never once tried to give us the hard sell, but did explain the problem with old systems, galvanized vs. PVC, and other issues we’re probably going to run into but can’t afford to deal with right now. Then in the end, he did what we wanted and could afford — even though, frankly, it probably would have been wiser to trust his judgment and do the expensive job now. We’ll probably be calling him in a few years saying «You were right! Why oh why didn’t we listen to the professionals?!» Because we’re jerks, that’s why. Don’t be us. Listen to Martin. He knows what he’s talking about. But if you think you know everything, he’ll do the job well no matter what.

We contracted with Automatic Sprinkler Controls to do a complete repair/​refurbishment of our irrigation system (½ acre of yard and landscaping). We first asked Martin, the owner, to give us an estimate to remove and replace the entire system which was over 40 years old and had various repairs and changes made over the years.
Martin did a thorough review of our property and checked all aspects of the existing system and told us we didn’t need a full replacement; that he could repair/​refurbish our present system at about ½ the total cost.
After four full time days, the job was finished, Martin did a thorough test of the work done by Marcus and Will, made a few tweaks and adjustments and left us with just what we wanted; a fully functional and operational irrigation system.
Very impressed with everything; the price, the quality of work, the professionalism of Martin, Will and Marcus, and will recommend ASC to any and all who ask.

Can I post 10 stars? The best, after asking gardeners, plumbers, other ( Unilocal) sprinkler specialist, my problems may be solved. Marcus came to my house on time 8:15 am and first thing was to test the controllers for electrical issues, right away he found some issues and fixed it (bad connection) new caps and some electrical tape! He check the pressure in two places, and then we tested the sprinklers by using a remote controller! We walked around the house, adjusted each head, replaced bad heads/​screens. He dug out and moved the pipes (1 feet) that was in a bad spot, replaced the broken sprinkler and reprogrammed everything. Only 2.75 hours.

Frank came to our house ON TIME for our appointment. He was awesome! He gave us two options for a solution to our ongoing problem of blowing out sprinkler heads due to a water pressure issue. We agreed to his estimate and the bill came out LESS than what we agreed to. I would recommend this business to anyone. Not only are they knowledgeable and time efficient, they are also ethical.

I had one broken sprinkler pipe under a large tree root as well as a leak in another line. Martin, the owner, returned my call and sent Steve on Saturday. Steve was excellent, cut through the root and repaired the pipe in a very timely manner. He also repaired another pipe. He was very well equipped with the proper tools and knowledge. I would highly recommend the company!

I’m giving ASC five stars for doing nothing. OK, well not nothing. I’ve written in other reviews how important service is to me. Matt at ASC certainly did not disappoint. Unlike two other irrigation companies I called, Matt’s first response was not to come out to check things out so he could provide an estimate. He asked what was my irrigation issue. For the next 15 minutes, he listened and carefully explained some potential solutions «so that I wouldn’t have to spend more than I needed.» Certainly he offered ASC’s installation services, any businessman would. Instead, he emphasized that based on our conversation he felt I probably could do the job. Sure, he may not have gotten business from me this time around, but should I need a pro to solve a bigger problem, ASC will be it. Knowing that they serve the customer first gains my immediate loyalty. As Sasha P. wrote, this type of service is a rare find. Would definitely recommend ASC to anyone.

Martin and his employees are one of the best I’ve ever had working at my home. They are fair with the price, arrive on time, do exactly what the estimate says and more. They took the time to not only do a fantastic job, but to show me how my timer works, cleaned up after themselves like they were never there and all were focused on completing the job with true professionalism.

Based on the good reviews in Unilocal,I gave them a shot. Three quotes all within a $ 100 difference range, so I went with these guys. Martin did the quote. Crew showed on scheduled day. On time. Prepared.
Took them about six hours to fix a broken sprinkler line, add several new sprinkler heads, replace a few busted sprinkler heads, add a water faucet out front. Plus they put in a new shut off valve and took out a plumbing part that is really designed for a swimming pool. The guys who flipped the house must have had it in the back of their truck…
Anyway, I can now hose down the sidewalk. Don’t have to worry about the flowers getting water as the new sprinkler heads work great. The broken line no longer an issue. I can finish landscaping the front yard.
Oh, and the cost was as quoted. No surprises. Guys cleaned up and I would definitely use this company again.

Rather than wasting our time or money, Matt, the gentleman who answered my call, spent 20 minutes on the phone working to diagnose and remedy the problem, totally gratis.
Classy move and a rare and refreshing amount of customer concern in this day and age!
Although they didn’t come out to our home, I would highly recommend this company and definitely plan on using them in the future.

After decades of Mickey-​Mousing and being frustrated with my ancient system dysfunctional sprinklers I called Martin. He came right out and gave me a great quote. They finished on time and showed up when they said they would. My neighbors actually commented on how tidy they were and how even with the massive work in digging up everything they put everything back and it looked undisturbed.
I went for the computerized system with the weather station. It is awesome. My favorite feature, the battery backup so when the power goes out I don’t have to reprogram the whole system. Martin came back two weeks later to check the system and make sure everything was working as it should.
It is amazing, the sprinklers are all specific for what they water and only water what they are supposed to. I know I am going to save money on my water bills.
If you need a sprinkler system you will be glad you went with them.

Man, I’ll tell you as a first time homeowner you get to see the full spectrum of service perople and companies. ASC rocked it both on service and price. Found them on Angie’s List and they did not disappoint. Inherited a ghetto sprinkler system with more baggage than Lindsey Lohan and Ron was able to fix multiple leaks, broken heads, missing lines, etc. They do alot more including low voltage lighting & some landscaping so definitely full serice
Ask for Ron. He’s the man.
