Let me begin by saying that I absolutely love tomato bar! The inside is lovely, staff is good, the outdoor eating area could use a little TLC, but other than that it’s fantastic! As a vegan, it can be difficult to find restaurants that will cater to your lifestyle, and Tomato Bar is luckily one of those places. My favorites include the GIANT make-your-own-salad, the Mediterranean veggie avocado wrap, and(of course) the vegan pizza. If you are vegan/vegetarian or even just curious about the lifestyle, try Tomato Bar! You definitely won’t regret it.

We had dinner on Saturday because I had been drooling over the pizza of the month … Our food and service is always exceptional. Saturday we say on the patio and our service was better than ever. I have been there before and experienced a pretty long wait so you should be expecting that if you show up at dinner time on a Saturday night. I will say that when they give us a wait time it is always shorter than what they say. The pizza is well worth the wait !!!

Fresh and fast. We loved his place. Can’t wait for the franchise to make it to San Francisco Bay area. I shared the Loaded Pistol steak salad and the BLTA pita sandwich both were yummy. the salad full of fresh veggies and perfectly tender chucks of diced steak with roasted red bell peppers. The sandwich came in two separate pitas each full of perfectly cooked bacon and wedges of avocado cut into bit size pieces. Each pita comes wrap in a foil punch for easy mess free eating. Could easily have served two people. The salad could be shared as a first course for 3 or 4. We were a Party of 8 so we had a little of everything at the table including a couple of pizzas and the Hulk salad and everyone was thoroughly satisfied with their meal. Definitely will make this a stop on all my visits to Valpo.

Excellent service, fresh lively flavors, crisp salads, enormous calzones. Just a little noisy, but always very busy.

The kids and I love Tomato Bar! The salads are HUGE and delicious! The doughnuts are a favorite of ours and we love the laid back atmosphere to watch our Cubbies win! Service has always been good and the kids love watching the pizzas fly into the air when they are being made! I’ve not tried any of the sandwiches on the menu yet, but they sound amazing! We’re definitely return customers at here!

Been looking for a place with good Philly cheesesteaks so I thought I’d try this place out. Wow. The sandwich was excellent. Make sure you ask for the different bread because it normally comes on pita bread. The portion was huge, took half home for later. First time I’ve had a philly with lettuce and surprisingly it works. Also had their winds which were solid, nothing to go out your way for, but a good app option. Paired all this with some Burn Em beer, their selection on tap is pretty good for their size.

Yay! Another good restaurant that has many gluten free choices on the menu! I’ve been to both locations a few times and every time I’ve gone I’ve had a good meal, good service and the gluten free choices are safe! They also have 3 gf cider beers which I must say, I like the blueberry cider. The build your own salad was very good and so is the gf pizza and definitely the gf bruschetta!

Good food. I love the Toga Party. Not a fan of everything I’ve gotten, but to each their own on taste. Their portions are huge and I always leave with a to go box. Their staff is friendly. Parking in this strip mall is about as undesirable as they come. With several popular businesses there, the parking lot is not satisfying the needs of the customers.

The food is good. The service is bad. The place is badly managed when it comes to seating. Our party of 4 waited for 40 minutes while they were busy seating two people on table of six. Also, the only hot sauce they have is the Siracha sauce — or so I was told.

Walked in, sat down at the bar and the first thing said to my party was rudely, «I need your ids» as the bartender was walking away. Later, the bartender yelled if I wanted a drink from across the bar. I understand that bars need to id, but I expect someone to say ‘hello’ at the minimum before asking. Let alone, it would be nice if we weren’t asked rudely. As well, I expect someone taking my order to stand near me, so I do not have to raise my voice to answer. It was my first time in the restaurant and I didn”t even want to order! Poor customer service at the bar for sure. I can’t imagine wanting to return with the rude service. **end of the meal update** My boyfriend got«the reef» and it was good. It had crispy crust on the bottom, was cooked perfectly, and loaded with tons of toppings. Easily the best pizza in valpo. Unfortunately, our first look at the restaurant was poor. I would go back or get takeout but I wouldn’t sit at the bar again. As well, the restaurant lost a lot of business today – because I didn’t order. We paid $ 22…and would have easily walked out of there with a $ 60+ tab if we had both ordered. Sad for the restaurant because this could have easily been a 4 – 5 star review.

Noisy, low class. Went with a group. Could not get seated. All seats taken by heifers who seemed happy to graze there. Next door, Dickeys was nearly empty. Ate there but food was terrible, salt tack.

I would simply love to say try the Portobello Sandwich. This place and their customer service has never failed me yet. So when I am in town it will always be on my radar for good, fresh and healthy, eating.

Large craft beer selection on tap. We have never been disappointed with the food. Only complaint and it really doesn’t have anything to do with Tomato Bar, parking can be an issue.

Amazing place! One of my favorites in Valpo! Great staff, good atmosphere, quick service, and most importantly vegan options! And a lot of them. Vegans, feel free to build your own pizza complete with cheese! A rare treat around NWI.

I’ll start out with– I am not a pizza person. I really would never eat pizza if it were up to me. With that being said– I love coming here with my friends! Everybody can get what they want. They have the most amazing sandwiches! I am a meat eater but I love the portobello sandwich. I also LOVE the hulk salad– that’s what I usually get and its so filling and healthy with very fresh ingredients. I’ve also tried a few pizzas and honestly, they’ve all been amazing. My favorite is the good olé boy. It has jalapeños and pineapple on it which is spicy, sweet and unique in flavors. The service is always amazing here and even when I just get pick up, they are still nice and attentive!

So, I’ve heard people talking about this place for a while, and thought I’d check it out. Short summary is that it wasn’t good. It’s like a warmed over California Pizza Kitchen for NWI(«you can pick your own toppings at the table? How innovative!») First and foremost, the name Tomato Bar doesn’t fit their sauce, as it doesn’t taste of tomato at all. I haven’t had a more bland sauce on a pizza, and I’ve eaten pizza at Boston’s. The crust was perfectly cooked, but again, not a speck of flavor to be had. The mushroom mix they used was above average. Wait staff was nice, and the service was quick. They have a bunch of craft beers, but at this point, who doesn’t? I’m not giving stars for that. For the price and quality of food, I’d venture elsewhere next time.
