Heath Keefe is a genuinely good human being. His store is locally famous for offering a free dry clean and press to job seekers who need to look good for an interview. That’s what drew me in to begin with. What kept me coming back is his high speed, high quality service which has been, as of the time of this writing, error free. When I needed some tailoring done to my scrubs, he seemed to be looking for every possible reason to discount the cost of the work being requested — like he didn’t really want to charge me anything, even though I’d have paid him anything he asked for. I guess he has a soft spot for nursing students. Anyway, here’s a guy that runs a small business, offers extremely high quality service at remarkable speed, charges next to nothing for it, and even then looks for reasons not to charge you even that much. Mr. Keefe, if it’s my loyalty you’re trying so hard to win, you’ve won it.

I believe this place has changed owners and is now called O’Keefe Cleaners. This morning I took in a green coat that has a big stain on the front lapel. They said it will be ready monday and that the stain will be no problem. I’m writing this review now becaue in the front window I noticed a sign that read«If you are unemployed and need an outfit cleaned for an interview we will clean it for free» I just wanted to say that they will continue getting my business and that I really appreciate doing that for our community in this economy! I will edit my review on monday to state how my coat turned out. Thank you again O’Keefe Cleaners for giving back to our community!!!

The custom made white shirts I took in turned grey in just a few times.

Continuing my quest to find a good dry cleaner in Valpo… I’ve now used a few places for at least a month each. This place, although it has a drive through and nice employees has the worst quality of shirt laundering yet experienced. The first annoying thing I noticed was a press mark on my shirts at the waistline. I ignored that because it is usually hidden beneath the belt and I’m just looking for a clean shirt. Now, after taking all my shirts there at least 5 or 6 times, I can clearly see that they are not getting clean. I now have smudge marks on the outside of most of my collars and brown discoloration on the fold. I even opened up two new white shirts a month ago for this test and they are not clean either! The inside collar is completely unacceptable. It is not only dirty in appearance it is gross to the touch! Upon buttoning, the back of my neck feels oily and clammy like I wore the shirt yesterday and didn’t wash it. I understand that during the summer there can be more dirt and grime to get out of collars. I also understand there are other places that may care about quality. The search for a clean white shirt continues. I initially rated this place with just one star. The Regional Manager emailed me after reading my review and called for a review of the processes at the cleaners. Turns out, their hot water heater was broken. That would explain the above description of my experience. So, I’m changing my review as stuff like that happens. Still, they should have seen the shirts. One is completely ruined.
