Corinne DeVries Voice and Piano Studio

My son and I have been taking piano lessons from Corinne for almost a year. She is a lovely person, extremely patient and dedicated to teaching. She genuinely cares about her students. Corinne is quite gifted working with young children as well as adults. I took piano lessons as a child, and she immediately assessed where to resume instruction. She took a totally different approach with my six year old son, who had no experience. Even though he had just started to read and write in school, she used a very understandable, age– appropriate method with him. He is now playing the piano while reading basic music at the same time. She knows exactly how much and how hard to gently push, in order to encourage improvement each week. Corinne is also very professional, dependable, punctual and takes the time you spend with her seriously. I highly recommend Corinne as a piano teacher. We enjoy our lessons immensely.

My 11 year-​old daughter has been taking voice and piano lessons from Corinne for about two years and she loves it. Corinne is so encouraging, but doesn’t push too hard, so my daughter really enjoys the lessons. For voice, Corinne is always open to letting my daughter sing the songs she’s interested in, but has also broadened her interests with new and classic pieces. My daughter had taken piano before, but her skills have improved so much since she started working with Corinne. I highly recommend Corinne for voice and piano lessons!

Corinne is amazing! I have been studying voice with her weekly for about two years now, and my musical theatre callback and booking rate has multiplied so much since before I started with her. She is so friendly and accommodating to my crazy, unreliable schedule. She always manages to fit me in when I need to see her for audition prep etc. She has also helped a lot on the business end of things with helping me create/​work on my Book. She is wonderful at pinpointing what needs to be worked on most individually with her clients and letting that be an area of focus, while still making sure to give a full lesson with everything you need. For me, my weakness when I started with her was my mix. Now, two years later, at the last musical theatre audition I had (which I booked) I was complimented by the musical director about how nice my mix was. I definitely credit Corinne for that! I would highly recommend Corinne to singers of any level! Whether new and wanting to learn how to carry a tune, or professional singers looking for a good vocal workout, she is your lady!

Corinne is fab! She’s friendly and encouraging, and she records vocal exercises for you so that you can practice at home and get better! She doesn’t just give lessons — she really REALLY cares about your improvement. She trains both your voice AND your ears.
I’m a vocal student and have been with her for almost a year, and not only has my vocal quality improved, but now I’m actually able to HEAR and understand different pitches. I come from a place where I honestly thought I as tone deaf and to really reflect back on my improvement in the past year has been incredibly inspiring.
She is also very warm and open and overall, my confidence has increased in my vocal ability tremendously. So glad to have met her!

I really enjoy working with Corinne. She creates a very professional environment. Her teaching methods resonate well with how I learn. I can be a slow learner and I’m the type who learns by doing. She figures out ways to explain things to me and makes sure important habits of how I sing are ingrained. She has great patience but also pushes me to go beyond my comfort zone. She’s thorough when it comes to really getting me to understand certain key techniques. Especially with breath support, focusing on vocal placement and rounding out my vowels. She helped me read music and figure out how to understand music by reiterating the beats, rhythms, and identifying specific notes on the scale. She helped me with pitches and with trying to memorize certain intervals so I can easily pick a note out without playing it. Her attitude is always very encouraging. I like the fact that she calls me out when I’m wrong so that I can fix my mistakes. She has a great pace which I appreciate because as an east coaster I need to move quickly. She has a ton of knowledge of composers and in her selections of repertoire. She chose some really interesting pieces for me to work on and I love them and I used them to start auditioning. Corinne has high energy and is really just fun to work with because she’s honest and real. I’d recommend her for all ages as well because she has a ton of positive experience which all different level students. I have my degree in Musical Theatre and have been working in my field for 5 years. Working with her has helped me to kept my craft going and growing.
