In-Shape: Vallejo Lincoln Rd

I love this gym! Donna or one of the other really nice people at the front desk greet you.
I’ve been working with personal trainer David Corrie for several months now. Really impressed with the progress I’m making. He’s acquainted me with the equipment and patiently and expertly guides me through exercises so that I make progress, but don’t get injured. He helps with nutrition too, and I’ve made good progress with my weight. Genuinely a nice guy, and very capable and professional.
The gym was completely renovated a few years ago. Its clean, the equipment is well-​maintained, and the people are friendly, a good mix of younger and older. I highly recommend this place and David Corrie.

In Shape Vallejo — Lincoln Rd. is probably one of the better gyms in the Vallejo area. The gym is well kept. In the past month I’ve been training with Bryant M. and he has motivated me to be a better me. He makes the hard work of working out more fun. He encourages and pushes you to reach your maximum potential. If you are looking for a trainer look him up.

thanks to my personal trainer Bryant. He helps me achieved my goal faster. yeah he’s always pushing me to my limit but I don’t care that’s what all trainers do, and because of that I’ve lost 4% of my body fats in just one month. so if you guys need a good personal trainer try to look for this guy.

So as far as gyms go in Vallejo this one is the nicest. I’ll break it down by price, amenities ect.
Amenities– they have nice equipment, a steam room, weight room, tennis courts, basketball courts, cycling studio and pool. There are several stories each offering different amenities. This is nice because it allows for things to be spread out and not as crowded as you might find at the 24 or planet fitness in Vallejo.
Personal trainers– very nice and knowledgable throughout the day. Pretty pricey and if you decide to cancel its $ 350 dollars… They often fail to mention this during the initial consultation so read your contract carefully.
Front desk/​ladies who sign you up/​customers service over the phone– this is a mixed bag. The people at the front desk are sometimes very nice there is an older woman in the morning she is so sweet. Some of the girls in the afternoon and evening though I never see crack a smile. Customers service over the phone is pretty bad. I called to ask a few questions about my personal training and if I could apply certain things in other areas since I travel for work… The people over the phone were not very friendly or helpful.
Locker room– the end of the day is really unkept. They need to clean it throughout the day more often. I usually go in the morning, but at night it never fails to have wet floors and toilet paper strewn about.
And finally price– you will pay around $ 60 a month for this membership. This is more costly than the 24 and planet fitness, however on par with Benicia fitness for example. So it depends on what you are looking for. If the steam room pool and classes are something you will utilize I would go for it. There are no activation fees or cancellation fees. They also offer couples discounts.
A year ago I would have told you it’s not worth it, just get the day pass if you only plan to attend occasionally and stick with something cheaper, but since they have extended their hours I would recommend a membership. It is honestly the nicest gym in Vallejo and one of the nicest between Vallejo and Benicia.
So overall three stars. –1 because sometimes the locker room is icky and –1 for the lack luster staff on occasion.

I am rating this in shape 1 star because of the horrible customer service. I am a member of the in-​shape on Sereno Dr, and was considering upgrading my membership but after the bad experience and customer service I received I will not be upgrading. My mom is currently a member at in-​shape on Lincoln rd which is why I was considering upgrading my membership. Early January I went with my mom to this gym and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I explained to her how currently my membership was frozen and how I was thinking about possibly upgrading my membership but wanted to check out the gym first. She gave me the okay to work out in the gym for the day and before I left I asked the women if the membership counselor had arrived yet and she said no. She asked if she could take my name and number down so that Trent the membership counselor could give me a call to set up an appointment to discuss the difference in the upgrade and see if I was still interested. I never received a call, I called a few days later and never had my call returned. 2 days ago I noticed there was a charge on my account for $ 61.99 so I called the gym to see what the charge was for because my account is frozen. I spoke to Trent who told me that the charge was for the membership upgrade. I questioned this because I never agreed to upgrade I had never met with anyone or received a call back. Trent than says it says here you came in on January 3^rd and then on the 8^th to upgrade. I explained how I had gone in on the 3^rd and how the front desk lady said she would give me a pass to check the gym out but I had never gone in after that. He kept insisting that he remembered me going in to upgrade and I had to continue to repeat myself that I hadn’t gone in on the 8^th. I gave no consent or authorization to upgrade my membership, I met with no one and never got my call returned. Basically what happened here was miscommunication between the front desk lady and the membership counselor. My membership was upgraded without my consent or authorization because I message was given wrong. In my opinion in-​shape or any gym should not upgrade customer memberships without meeting with the customer or making a call to be sure that, that is what they want. I now have a charge of $ 61.99 to my account that I’m hoping member services can refund.

The facility is clean, well maintained. I enjoy coming here. Some membership glitches when I first became a member and personal training sessions, in time they were taken
care of.
Juliet Wonn, my personal trainer has helped me become physically stronger and I now have more flexibility. She has been working with me since September 2015. I am continuing to work on reaching my goal. Juliet is upbeat and is always willing to offer suggestions.

Been coming here for over a year and it seems like the front desk has it friendly, pleasant people working but as of late I’ve noticed that there are a few stoic faces. No greeting and I seemed to get ignored when asking for a towel.
The pregnant young lady always seems not to say hello, no smile and just stares at me when I come to check in. I’m in the customer service field and I notice things like: every time I come in she doesn’t say Good morning, afternoon, but she sure musters up a smile and/​or greeting to the person behind me.
I understand being pregnant, but that shouldn’t take away from doing your job and treating everyone fairly. There is another young lady that works at the front and she has a problem with not being friendly and you u often get the blank stare.
If it weren’t for the newest of this gym and the old machines at 24hr. I would quit!

I like this gym. Just wish they would maintain better… i.e. a) would like to see it clean, it’s dirty most of the time.
B) equipment better maintained. Out of order signs on multiple cardio machines.
C) locker room floor always has big puddles from swimmers…(oh and people tend not to shower before entering pools.)

Expensive and badly managed. I only come a few times per month (on the weekends) and it is frequently a gamble as to whether they will open on time at 06:00 AM. On Saturday, January 9^th, 2016 many of us gave up waiting and went home at 06:30 because there was nobody from In-​Shape to open up.
Being able to open up on time consistently is the most fundamental obligation of any business. I’m sorry, this has been going on for far too long — heads need to roll. But this club, its local management, and its corporate management only care about one thing: more members.
But see what happens the instant something goes wrong with your monthly dues payment: they are right on it. This actually happened to us. There was no problem with our bank account, there was plenty of money in the account, no account numbers or routing numbers changed, but In-​Shape corporate hounded us. After a few days of this they finally announced that the problem was resolved, but no admission or apology that the ENTIRE problem was COMPLETELY of their own doing.
However, our reward for years of perfect dues payment at this and other In-​Shape clubs is poorly maintained, dirty clubs, that you can’t even count on to open on time.
Why can’t the employees who close the club at night spend 15 minutes tidying up the place? Towels laying all over, pool exercise equipment everywhere, consumables like soap and facial tissue frequently not replenished, dirty locker room floors. The list goes on.
In the mornings there used to be two In-​Shape employees who opened up: a male and a female. Locker room maintenance was better (but not perfect) under this routine. The answer is that In-​Shape corporate would rather risk dirty, poorly maintained clubs, than a membership revolt. How cheap can you get? Whatever happened to putting the customer «first»?
As a reliable dues paying member I want a reliable and clean club. Is that too much to ask?

OK, you have earned the fifth star! The gym is now at a comfortable temperature at 5 am, we are greeted by Donna every morning who opens it promptly. My trainer, Lewis, is awesome.

My family has been coming here since it switched from Millenium. We were signed up by a guy Jerry who told us that we had certain benefits including access to the other local In Shapes (in a certain radius). After ALL staff changed over I was told that this was not the case and we were only given access to Lincoln Rd. This was really disappointing and with some convincing they gave me access to Serrano Dr also (but no others) This is why this review is only 4 stars.
Lets move on to the good stuff. I like that there is lots of space. I very rarely feel like other people are on top of me or that I don’t have a good selection of equipment available to me. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. I see people complaining of customer service but I notice that is a trend with people who are using free passes. I have never ran across an employee that isn’t nice or willing to help.
I use the childcare a lot and my kids love it. It is usually really clean and enough there that the kids are entertained. My kids love Jessica and Lovina!
They have some really great classes and the best part for me is the space in the classes! They are NEVER overcrowded and you do not have to arrive early for a ticket to get in like you have to at Serrano Dr. Body Combat and Sudamix are the absolute best. I have also enjoyed U-​Jam but it really depends on the teacher. Zumba is pretty yawn (boring) and I heard Body Pump is really good (I am looking forward to trying it)
I did try personal training with Angel. I found him very professional and helpful. I would have continued but could not justify spending that money on myself. He never called trying to be pushy either which I greatly appreciated.
I don’t think pricing is outrageous for what you get. I pay $ 140 a month for 2 adults and 2 children. The children get unlimited childcare and use of the pool. I used to go to 24 Hour Fitness and pay $ 24 a month (for just me) but it was always crowded, crowded classes, smaller childcare area (also dirtier) and an older facility. I guess it depends what is important to you. My husband get A LOT of use out of the tennis courts as well which is a great plus.
The only suggestions I have for improvement is whoever cleans upstairs sometimes just pushes the dirt to the center of each piece of equipment on the floor. (so when you are using the equipment you look down into a pile of dirt) That grosses me out but luckily is not all the time. I also wish there were longer hours on the weekend.

All the machines and equipment were clean, the staff has great customer service and even though it’s in Vallejo, I feel safe. I’ve lived in Vallejo almost all of my life and there aren’t many places I’m willing to go to by myself at night but this facility has given me a sense of safety and well being. You almost forget you’re even in Vallejo! Anyways, great gym– memberships are a little pricey but it’s an almost brand new facility and it saves me gas since it’s right down the street from my house so it’s worth it.

This place is nice! I just come to play tennis, although the facilities inside are great! Very clean and customer service is good too. All it’s missing are some pickleball courts…

Received an email from Anna… and she asked me how my experience was with In-​Shape. I replied.
«There are few concerns. 1) Parking… it’s always full, and this is why I almost always come early in the morning, because of it. I cannot park on street because of the sign. I know it is out of this club’s control, but this is something that this club to think about. :-\ 2) Cost… it looks like I would probably join other gym for same „features“ or amenities as this location. (Fitness Evolution… it is closer to my work).»
And there was NO follow up/​response to my concerns. This e-​mail was sent on August 27^th.
They don’t care about your concern (s), they just want your money. Sorry… joining other gym that is closer to my work.

I love coming here I get a greeted by Kayla who always has a smile, which I find makes my work out more enjoyable no problem is to big she will find a solution, when leaving always says have a great day .
Angel is a great personal trainer always helpful will push you to your fullest potential and gives you that motivation you need to reach your goal
Gym is clean, classes are fun and pool is a plus so. With pleasant staff clean facility I give this club 5 stars

Came here to use the 7-​day free pass with my friend. The lady that worked there wanted to give us a quick tour or the place so I said why not?! Took the tour, loved the Kids Club for my little one, loved the idea they had tanning beds, hydro massage beds and massage chairs as well. The environment was very clean, friendly staff, very spacious, chill and not over bearing with lots creepers (unlike 24). The vibe is perfect. I love how they have family swim time hours so I can take my son swimming. He enjoy’s it here. Canceling my 24 membership today =)

We went in yesterday to get a free tour and sign up for a free pass and when we got there the lady we had a appointment set up with had to leave (she said it was an emergency) after we was waiting for 15 mins so she said a lady named christina would help us so while we was waiting a couple of staff members were walking around looking at like they wanted us to so we waited another 30 mins and another lady comes up and say that christina had to leave too (she also said it was an emergency) REALLY!!! We were so piss we left and went to planet fitness
At planet fitness as soon as we walked in the door a laby named nikkole came up ask us if we wanted aI tour no waiting no bs run arounds like in shape she was perfect with her customer service she signed up for the black card $ 20.00 a month
Bottom line if you go to in shape for anything free they will treat you like trash and will do their best to avoid you and its so sad because my wanted to sign up without a tour or a free pass but it’s a good thing we didd’nt because they only want your money. I GIVE IN-​SHAPE 0 STARS THEY NEED TO SHAPE UP THEIR WORKERS

Rude female at the front didn’t even tell me about the free online pass to check out the gym tried charging me 16 $ for a DAY PASS
Forget that I google free pass in shape and it came right up. That would have been something to tell potential customers.
Unless you like paying 64 $ a month for extreme open floors and very little equipment in every category I recommend any other gym.
Planet fitness has more machines and 24 has more weights.
Only thing they gave here worth note is racquet ball courts and a pool

As a family of 5 it is really nice to find a gym that is not only family friendly, but family supportive. They have childcare and swim times for families.
Several days each week we come for family swim time and today they saw us coming and checked us in before we even got in the door. With a big hello they handed us out towels and off we went. Nice! Family swim time was surprisingly calm and not crowded.
I frequently will after the swim use the equipment and can’t wait to work in to using more of the facility as I get back into shape. Looking forward to having the kids take tennis lessons also.
By the way, the pool is probably about 80 degrees and has a huge span of windows on one side.
It seems like they are truly never over crowded, which is nice. It is located in a low traffic area of Vallejo so I have a feeling people just don’t know about it. Anyway, nice place. I’ll update when I’ve been a member for a few months.
