Howard Johnson Inn and Suites Vallejo/Near Discovery Kingdom

I would not recommend anyone to stay in this dump… I work In the refinery business I stayed here almost 2months along with refinery co workers one day after a long 12 hr shift I come to the front desk to pay for my week stay got my key activated I walk to my room (which is rite above the office) open my door I realize all my stuff is thrown everywhere dresser drawers open and my personal belonging were missing .I went to front desk and told them my room was sacked and that their were no signs of forced entry… the lady in the front desk walked with me to the room to c for her self n told me one of the maitnance guys was fired n had access to all the rooms n office that they think it was him… I called police department n filed a police report the officer had me send him a itemized letter of stuff that was taken… Mr kang wanted a itemized letter too so that he can file an insurance claim… so as days passed I went back and asked him about the claim and asked me for the letter only to say that the stuff on the letter was not in my room called me a liar… long story short he didn’t do nothing about my stolen items… also other refinery workers rooms were broke into the same way .they said they were gonna change locks n new key maker n didn’t do shit. I emailed the letter to Mr kang on his email there at the hotel n a couple of days later I got threatening messages from the hotel email… if I could give this place –5 stars I would…

I put five star’s so people can see this post. I went hear on 2÷5÷16. I paid 140 for a large Deluxe room. I cryed when I pulled up. This was so run down an nasty. Now let’s get to the room. The water was turn off the wall paper was peeling the room wasn’t clean. I even called the management to fix my fridge. The old peeve made nasty comments toward me an took forever for him to leave. He also refuse to give me a refund or change my room. The plus the bed was comfortable. I wish I could post pictures…

February 2015 I was remodeling a home in Benicia (5 minutes away) I saw a banner advertising $ 59.95 per day Weekly rate. I met Rueben, very professional, answered all my questions, pleasant, the model employee. I signed up for 1 week and paid $ 480 for 7 night. I got my room key, unloaded my things. The room was acceptable but not up to my standards but the price was right. When the sun went down the craziness started. Loud noises, people running up and down the halls, gun fire, and more. One week turned into one month but I was learning a new trade and everything moved fast. The craziness became worry some. I contemplated moving to a safer hotel, but ran into Mr. Kang one of the owners and insured me his security guy was return from vacation and everything would be better. Trace the hotels security guy arrived few days later and yes Mr Kang was right. It was like night and day. Better sleeping at night and I wasn’t afraid to walk out the room door. After a couple of months a older lady appeared on property. I found out it was Mrs. Kang. She walked around like she was in a pageant. Was not a very friendly lady. Would never greet you if you were walking towards her, she actually was looking to see if you were doing something wrong so she could kick you out and not refund your money. YES, I’ve seen that happen. I’ve seen Mrs. Kang kick out a dis-​abled lady in a wheel chair at 10:00 pm at night and tried to have her people throw out the ladies personal property, to clean the room to resell it. I met a girl Maria and she was a very good front desk manager, always helpful, but I could tell she did not condole Mrs. Kang’s business practices. I also met another front desk person named David, which he identified himself as the General Manager. I first impression was he was lazy and predigest. Then after a week, yes I confirmed he was exactly as I taught. One morning I was waiting in the front office to pay and David was on the phone with a guest, annoyed, rolling his eyes, finally told the guest, were booked and slammed the receiver down. I looked at him and made a comment difficult customer, he said stupid customers. I told Mr. Kang about a week later what I encountered. The following week at 8:00 am I heard a knock on my room door only to be asked to check out, my money was no longer good here. So I packed up and started to load my car, the security guy was trying to grab my arm and make me move faster. I left and went to another local hotel. Later I found out that the General Manager made up a story, told that story to Mrs. Kang and she gave the order to kick me out. I taught to myself, wow I just spent $ 6,000 here and they throw me out. That was wrong.
So its a year later and it has changed a bit for the good but I would never recommend this hotel to a group, friend or family. Part 2 to come.

We got the last room even though we had reservations. It was 2am so we didn’t want to look elsewhere. It really needs cleaning and maintenance, bad. Had it been earlier, we would have moved on. Oh, we decided not to do the conti bfast. One look at the «restaurant» was enough.

Gangbanging, Drug dealers, Prostitutes. I’VE never seen nothing like it. Roach infestation, maids doesn’t clean rooms properly. An the manager is a natural born rascist. Don’t come here im from LA. Dirty towels, Room smell like cigarettes an people sell dope an sex all night.

Now I know some that would automatically give a five star review if they found themselves a bag a Crack on the way to their room, but I’m going to have to say minus a star. Especially since the place is full of children. As for the second floor railing being held on with duct tape and caution tape, minus another star. Booking two rooms with four queens and couches but only getting a king and two queens, minus. The general state of neglect of the property, minus minus minus. The security gaurd was very nice and professional, star. Overall, RUN. But that’s just my opinion.

This hotel is great. I work up here two to three weeks out of the month and stay here every time I’ll be honest though the person that makes this place is the security guard Trace he keeps law and order around here. He is also very helpful with local restaurants and attractions. He is as helpful as he possibly can be and keeps the local riff-​raff under control. If you’re looking for a great deal on a decent hotel room this is the place for you but just make sure Trace is around.

This hotel offered shuttle service to discovery village. They told us they would pick up anytime if you called. We called at 610 and didn’t get picked up until 710. They have zero communication with other staff members. Rooms we gross dirty. Asked for more towels waited forever and finally went to office to get them myself. Would not recommend

Horrible experience EVER! The pictures are not what the rooms look like. There was holes in the walls, stains in the carpert, old box TV with no remote (not really necessary) but not ideal for now in age. We would have checked out but we got there so late at night (almost 11pm) and with our 2 year old we had no options… The window to the restroom faced the street and was old and almost falling apart. There were metal bars that kept the windows from opening (assuming as a «security» issue). We stayed in a room that faced the back of the hotel and when we drove to back we were in total shock! There was metal bars surrounding the entire hotel, and was dirty and garbage every where. Very shady and scary. We saw some people who looked very shady and I think they lived in the hotel.
DO NOT STAY HERE.

OMG! are you freaking kidding me this place is a joke $ 80 for what at fire trap and brats jumping up and down on the bed above my room and I had to be up at 4am. The clerk was no help at all he told me oh they are leaving at 3am like that helped me. Then he said he was going to give me my money back and avoided all my calls sooooo I am Unilocaling your ass to tell the world on the horrible service, dirty comforter, no towels having place ya’ll got there. Oh wait! I forgot the unsuitable bathroom was a shower with nothing to stop the water from flowing out into the bathroom floor just ugly and I will NEVER spend a dime there again!!!

The worst Hotel experience of my life. Front door safety latch was broken and door lock was not properly secured, Balcony door lock was broken, Electrical outlet was broken, Air conditioner power cord was too short so they pulled the wire out of the wall to get the plug closer to the cord. Grafitti in the bathroom, Shower curtain rod improperly hung-​the curtain kept sliding to the center of the pole. Setee was so badly stained that we were afraid to put our luggage on it. Spider webs in the corners of the room, bathtub drain clogged. Night besk clerk attitude was horrible «I’m just the night clerk, what do you want me to do about it».
We were upgraded to a better room the second day of our stay. The new room was better but not the higher caliber executive suite they said it was. AC unit rattled all the time, The sheets in the new room were dirty, had black stains and the blanket had cigarette burn holes in it. Wifi service was spotty.
When I called the owner to complain, her attitude seemed very unconcerned and uninterested. Her response was «we gave you a new room, the problems have been fixed.» As I was trying to talk she kept interrupting me and talking over me as I was trying to tell her all the issues with the room. I was offered a $ 25 dscount for being put in an unsafe room. She is only there 3 days per week. It is clear why this Hotel is in such poor shape-​they have owners who don’t care.
The breakfast was poor. Waffles, some muffins, cereal and TANG! Seriously, who is so cheap that they serve Tang instead of Orange juice???
The final straw, as we were leaving, another family was complaining about the bed bugs in their room.

I was looking for a place to stay overnight while visiting six flags. For the price and proximity to the park, this place was just fine.
I didn’t need internet or anything of the like. Just a place to comfortably sleep and shower. This fit the bill.

This was the perfect hotel for the price I was willing to pay. Very close (5 minutes) to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Large clean rooms and super easy access on and off the freeway. I always felt safe and at night time there is even a security guard patrolling.
The front desk staff were all very kind and professional. Therer was plenty of parking.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Six Flags or the Napa wine country.

It is 3:51 am and I am awake, and bitter writing this review. The place is loud with the windows open and hot with them closed (there is no air conditioning except a heater). I don’t feel safe though having the window open while I sleep in this neighborhood. The grocery outlet next door and the rite aide down the way both have security guards. The only solace I have for safety is that we are very close to the freeway.
What is right? The staff is friendly, and brought us help or offered answers whenever they were asked. If I owned a hotel here I would hire the front desk. The sheets are clean and the daily chores of the cleaning staff are almost all completed. The pull out bed/​couch works great. The pillows are comfortable and soft.
What is wrong? The lighting in the parking lot is inadequate. The pool is dirty. There is a drought and a fountain that spills water over the side, They put an ugly net over the fountain, perhaps to stop animals from getting water, instead of turning it off until the drought is over. The screen for the window is missing. The window was put into the wall backwards. There are spiderwebs on the ceiling, I think that is what they are, someone painted over them, perhaps it is mold, mildew, or a leak. The refrigerator is tucked into a cabinet that is big enough to see it is covered in dust. The intake for the heater is covered in dust. The curtains have been chewed. The towel rack is bent. There is coffee, but no coffee maker. The TV is a 19″ low definition TV, and does not get a sports channel. The wifi is not obtainable from room 135 via my iPad 4, or iPhone 5s. The trash can outside the room is overflowing. One room near the front desk has all the furniture out on the balcony. The toilet paper rack is coming out of the wall. The motion sensor light switch is covered by the curtains. I think I will wait to post this until after we eat breakfast, I’m not sure the free breakfast will be worth it, I’ll let you know.

If you want a stable and useful internet connection, don’t stay here. Had to move from first room I was given because there was no signal, and the second room had a signal but the connection kept getting dropped. Very annoying.
I had to beg for a receipt when I checked out and only got a one-​line printout with no details. I was told that was the best they could do.
Didn’t get service on my room on one of my days.
Not a great experience.

I had an issue where I couldn’t make my reservation and had booked through a website not associated with the hotel and had tried to cancel that reservation but it for some reason didn’t go through. I wasn’t too happy when I saw the no show charge on my credit card bill… so I called the website and that they would sort it out but received an email saying they tried to get in touch with the hotel but couldn’t so I called myself and got to speak to the lovely manger… he was not lovely he was actually quite rude. He even hung up on me and wouldn’t pick up the phone when I tried to call back. Some people should not be in the hospitality industry…
Even if he thought that I didn’t deserve to get the refund, that’s fine.
He should have spoken to me with respect because Howard Johnson has now forever lost a customer.

Our experience was HORRIBLE! We stayed over memorial day weekend ’15. The first day they booked us in the same room as another lady. The next morning we go to the free breakfast and the waffle maker looked as it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The hotel was dirty. The linen was stained. The walls in the bathroom had stuff all over then. The air conditioner vents we fikthy with dust anf what looked like food. The divider between our rooms on the balcony had been tagged. One night after my baby had gone to sleep we hear our door rattle and when I went to the door another guests said he had just rented our room. Then the front desk calls us and almost woke our son. They didn’t know who we were or what room we were in! I will never stay here again! They need to manage their hotel better and learn how to clean! I took pictures of everything and I plan to contact corporate!

Do NOT waste your hard earned money. Worst hotel experience I have ever had. There were homeless people sleeping on the stairs we had to walk up to get to our room. The room was dingy and worn. When we checked out the staff was rude and insulting to the point of me thinking we’d have to get the authorities involved just for me to get an accurate receipt for the charges charged to my credit card. Horrible experience!

I don’t understand why the reviews are so negative! My friend and I booked a two bed queen suite for a night, and even though we checked in 6 hours later, they were able to give us the room we wanted.
Once up to the room, when the sink was on water spilled everywhere underneath. We went back to the desk, explained the problem, and they updated us to a California king suite with a couch. In the new room the smoke alarm was chirping and one of the newer (I presume) front desk guys told us to come back down with our stuff and he would give us another new room. The other front desk guy talked to us when we got there, and came to our room at 9pm to switch the battery since maintenance would not be able to come until morning to replace it. They were both very nice! I only give 4 stars instead of 5 due to the excessive back and forth of a room that didn’t have an issue. But the place was very clean, (both rooms we were in) the free breakfast was good, and it is very close to six flags. I would/​will definitely be staying here again!

Worst place. 1^st thing I specifically asked for non smoking room when I reversed. Checked in went to the room and it smelled like cigarettes. I asked front desk to changes rooms, so they did. But yet again another smelly cigarette room. The toilet seat is disgusting, looks like and old crusty toilet. They need to replace!!!
Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. So disappointed.
