History

Established in 1976.

Roger T started Spraddle Creek Ranch when Vail was just a blip on the screen. Later Marc W bought it and ran it for 21 years. During that time, the ranch was moved from its original location on USFS land, further up the mountain. The ranch base sits at 8400 ft. From there, the rides will steadily climb and gently wind back down to the ranch. In 2003, the ranch was transferred to Kym M. The whole family takes part in keeping the operation running smoothly. We are here to serve you, keep you safe, and show you the best time possible.

Every wish I ever made before blowing out the candles on a birthday cake, or on a shooting star, came true all at once in 2003, when Vail Stables became a reality. 70 wishes=70 horses.

What I know about horses, I learned from The Little House on the Prairie series of books. My cousin had a crush on Michael Landon, but I just wanted to be Half-Pint (minus the dress) so I could ride back and forth to school, on a horse called Bunny. I had the mousy-brown hair, freckles and crooked teeth, so I was off to a good start.

My favorite horseback riding moment happened at 10 years of age, when my cousin, her friend and I, were riding triple, and bareback on a huge horse named Chief! A sharp turn, at a full gallop, dumped all of us into the clover field, laughing hysterically.

It give me great pleasure to see people enjoy their first time or fiftieth time in a saddle, in, what I consider, the greatest place on the planet.
