The Lodge At Vail, a RockResort

Crashed here after a wedding and just needed the basics. Unfortunately the room was 80 degrees and only a uncomfortable Murphy bed. Then in the morning in serious need of coffee there was none to be found in the room. Lobby coffee was out and when they finally filled it they didn’t have creamer. So what was the 30 dollar resort fee for?

after two days of skiing, we took a break and had a great time at the Spa at the Rockresort. Really nice relaxing atmosphere. Ask for Genieve. She literally gave me the best massage I have ever had. We also add the honey foot treatment. Great way to spoil yourself and take a needed break from the slopes. Highly recommend it!

This hotel is a great value and perfect location! Would recommend anyone staying here and would stay again. Staff was friendly, room was comfortable (make sure to request an updated room. They are all individually owned). They will go above and beyond when you are a guest and they are genuine. If you don’t want to pay to stay at a place like The Four Seasons I would highly recommend staying here. Only complaint was the heater in our room was a bit tricky and we had a hard time adjusting it to what we wanted so we slept with the windows open which was actually very refreshing and nice. And the bathroom could have been more modern/​updated but truly not bad.

Wow. Unbelievable. Perfect location, immaculate customer service. We will never stay anywhere else in Vail. Two minute walk from mountain, they store skis for you, Christy ski rental is 100 feet away. Very convenient for a short trip. Also don’t miss the cookies that are put out in the lobby at 3:00!

Very bad experience. Noisy rooms, many things didn’t work in the rooms. Management and staff kind but unable to resolve issues. We were with a group and everyone was unhappy we stayed there. From pre-​arrival on it was a disaster. Much better choices available for the price. Ruined our trip to Vail…

It is a very good hotel. I enjoyed it perfectly. But if all things are equal, I might opt for any of the other similarly priced hotels in the area. Several shortcomings for such a high-​end hotel:
–The place is a maze. Because it started small (first hotel in Vail), all the expansions are haphazard and perplexing. There are half floors and rooms in word places. The front desk guy had to show us to our room and even he got lost on the way!
–Plumbing kept making noises throughout the night and cold air came in through gaps in the balcony door (we were warm but it’s sure a waste of electricity)
–WiFi was completely unreliable and went out every 5 minutes or so, making it virtually impossible to get anything done online (this happened on both Mac and PC)
–Hidden fees everywhere. 20% gratuity and additional resort fees were charged for room service, overall stay, etc. Even a donation to the forestry (?) service was added without our knowledge.
That said it was still a really great experience for me. Great service, beautiful setup, very quaint and cozy with vintage photos everywhere (they don’t let you forget they were the first in Vail), free sauna, great outdoor fire pit, good restaurants, pet friendly (idk much — inquire yourself), ski runs/​lift right outside the door, incredible cookies… I had a great time.

My fiancé and I love staying at The Lodge in Vail. We love to go off season and hang in the hot tubs, eat at Elway’s or at one of the delicious restaurants within walking distance, and just relax.
For his birthday, I called the Lodge ahead of time as I knew they had been undergoing some remodeling and I wanted to see if they could put us in a newly remodeled room to make sure the evening was special. I also let them know about our recent engagement and the customer service rep took down several notes ensuring us some small upgrades due to our loyalty and causes for celebration!
I was very excited to get the The Lodge for a lovely time. When I arrive however, the front desk staff was dismissive, they hadn’t put anything so much as a card to congratulate our engagement, and they put us in a non-​renovated ADA room. None of this would have mattered so much had I not called ahead of time for this specific reason. I am thankful that the hotel has specially accommodated rooms for those with disabilities, however as I had mentioned our recent engagement, I found it to be an odd choice for us and not the most romantic. Also, the refrigerator door and toilet handle were broken.
When I received the survey from The Lodge, I filled it out honestly and to my surprise, Ben Tutt, The Lodge’s GM, personally called me to apologize. Not only that, he offered us a complimentary repeat stay. We were delighted. It is a rare occasion these days when people try to make it right. Mr. Tutt greeted us at the door when we arrived and even comped our valet parking.
When we got to our room (renovated! yay!!), there was a bottle of wine, truffles and fruit, cheese and crackers and… yes, a birthday card. To explain the thoughtfulness of Mr. Tutt’s actions, we were truly touched.
Needless to say, The Lodge really can do it up and be a wonderful place to stay when in Vail. Their renovated rooms are lovely, they have heated towel racks, and Elway’s is delicious. I can now also say that their customer service is beyond many hotels that I have stayed in. Big thank you to Mr. Tutt and the staff at Vail for making our stay so pleasant. Thank you!

Pretty pricey for run down and bare bones accommodations. I cannot remember the last time I stayed in a resort type lodge without air conditioning in the heat of summer. The «patio» has worn wood and splinters for little toes abound. Our expensive three bedroom is positioned right over the noisy restaurant– which we have to listen to all night as we have to keep the windows open to cool off a bit. Tiny bathroom space– I am small but can barely fit in the MASTER bath and close the door! Was told the place is pet friendly but hat our run down condo wouldn’t allow it– can only imagine what the pet friendly rooms look like! The kitchen has almost no amenities and the floor plan is just strange and hard to navigate– NOT kid friendly. The customer service is the only redeeming quality and the reason I didn’t give it two stars. Will stay elsewhere next time.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff that checked us in promptly. Our room is slightly small but still cozy and comfortable. We had a slight problem that our A/​C wasn’t working but so we called the concierge and they sent a repairmen quickly. Another positive aspect of the hotel is that it is in an absolute perfect location. Within a 2 minute walk you can be on the foothills of the slopes as well as 1 minute away from the heart of Vail. I am quite happy with our stay and I do recommend this hotel to others.

Really nice facility, friendly staff. Rooms were great, a bit small but a very cozy. Tried to get room service breakfast, unfortunately the staff never picked up the door hanger order form. Would stay here again!

Came here for a wedding that was held in Vail. It was during the off-​season (October) and they were doing construction on the whole place. Our room was fine, nice size, awesome bathroom. However, there was no easy way to get from one place to another in the hotel, we had to use back stairs and such. Also, the business center was closed so when we needed to print our boarding passes, we had to as the guy at the front desk to do it — I had to pay for a bag, so I had to give him the credit card for him to type in. strange.
The price for the room was fair, lower I think due to the off-​season and the wedding party discount, however, the construction was too much.
When its all finished, this place will probably be 4 or 5 stars, depending on the price.

I’ve traveled the world and all of colorado’s resorts. Not to mention, I hold status in multiple major hotel chains. I have to say this was the most unfortunate experience I’ve had in vail and would not recommend this resort. The staff is pleasant, but have to be give what they are faced with. The walls and ceilings are so thin, even the most normal movement sounds like a stampede. The rooms share a balcony, which, unless you are an exhibitionist, require you to close the drapes and remove the view you pay for… At $ 250+ a night, the four seasons is a far better option. Two nights here and, at best, three hours of sleep.

I coordinated for a group of 30+ people to stay at The Lodge for a work event, but had a family emergency the day I was going to leave for Vail and was unable to attend. Because of the chaos I did not call to cancel but did receive a call from The Lodge saying they had canceled my reservation since I did not check-​in. I thought this meant I was good to go and did not have to call them back but was wrong on all fronts. Even if I did call there would have been nothing I could do except pay my entire balance plus tax. This is what happens if you cancel within 48 hours.
I’d recommend other hotels in the area which are just as nice and more understanding such as the Marriott:

Our stay was below average at best. Valet parking is mandatory and is $ 25 + tip. Then when you check in they add a $ 20 resort fee for seemingly nothing.
I would have been okay with all the fees but a couple things happened that were pretty poor. The hotel is under renovation and the construction crew started pounding away at 7:45 AM. It was so loud the construction could have been happening right above our room.
Now that I had woken up earlier than I wanted to I thought I would log into the wifi to browse the internet. However the wifi wasn’t working! Then to top it off, when checking out the person at the front desk didn’t even ask me how my stay was and proceeded to tell me how much I owed for parking and the «resort fee».
I will not be returning. I will stay at another place in Vail even if it is more expensive.

I loved my stay at The Lodge at Vail! Granted I was there for a work trip and many of the added fees others mention, I didn’t have to pay for; but the trip and one night stay was not disappointing.
I scored a corner room with a full kitchen, huge beautiful bathroom, and a balcony looking out on the slopes. Some of the hallways may be a bit outdated but our room was everything but. It was so beautiful and comfortable. Likewise, their gym was top notch — one of the best I have seen in a hotel, which says a lot coming from someone who travels often and utilizes many hotel gyms. I had a great meal one evening at Elways upstairs at a reasonable cost when I hit their happy hour! And they have a great pool/​hot tub area that I took advantage of as well.
They don’t have a continental breakfast; however they do set out coffee and tea in the am. Along with oatmeal packs so I threw some oatmeal in a cup with some hot water and called it my make shift continental before hitting the road.
My only complaint is that it is the strangest lay out of a hotel and I was constantly lost. :) Good thing they have maps upon check in because I needed it!

Came solo for a snowboarding weekend. The hotel is all that you think it will be!!! Total luxury — and it’s not even the most expensive hotel in Vail. I’ve stayed in many luxury hotels, including a Fairmount and The Plaza (in NYC), and this is definitely amongst the cream of the crop.
It’s located right in Vail Village. A few steps to Gondola One and their shuttle will drive you over to (and back from) another part of Vail. It took me to Lionshead the second two days I was there. Then I just rode down the mountain back to Vail Village.
There was a bit of a mixup with my reservations. I expressed my confusion and disappointment that their error ended up affecting my room assignment. They really went out of their way to try to make up for the confusion. So, I ended up staying (after a discussion with the on-​duty manager) in two different types of rooms. The first was the standard king room; the second was a one bedroom luxury suite. The rooms were just amazing.
They added complimentary breakfast each morning for my stay. The breakfast was above-​and-​beyond any hotel breakfast I have had. It was very pricey ($ 32) for a buffet. But the buffet was delicious, varied, and expansive.
They have hot chocolate, coffee, smores (yummy!), and cookies (not so great) every day for apres b/​w 3 and 6pm. Fun to sit out by their fire pit after a day on the mountain with hot chocolate and smores.
I would deduct a half star if I could for additional staff confusion. My second day there I left my board out by the entrance to Vail Village, rather than bring it through the hotel b/​c most hotels do not allow equipment to be walked through the hotel. I told the front desk and they called the valet and instructed them to pick up my board in the back where it’s open to all of Vail Village and bring it to the front so that I can easily grab it the next day.
The following morning I asked them to bring my snowboard and no one knew where it was. I was getting frustrated because my board was no where to be found. I decided to look at where I left it the day before and it was still there. No one picked it up to bring it to the front of the hotel where it would be away from the public’s access.
There was also confusion getting my bags at the end of my last day when I was heading back to Denver. Won’t get into it just to condense my review.
Otherwise, highly recommended!!! Go! You won’t regret it!

We were hoping for the Marriott, but I must say I think we ended up with a better hotel after we crossed our fingers and bid on Priceline. We submitted a $ 100 bid (and it was $ 120 ish with taxes and surcharges).
I agree with the others that there are a number of ‘surprise’ charges in store for you once you arrive. First, there is the $ 25 valet fee and the $ 20 resort fee (for nothing really). Those are some hefty fees. The rooms and restrooms are a bit tight, but very clean and comfy.
They offer in-​room humidifers, robes, slippers you can take home, among other things. Oh, yeh, and they filter their own water and replenish in the room often if you request for turndown service, in nice glass bottles.
Since we had used priceline, I was surprised when our room was to be a studio with a murphy bed! Not good for two friends traveling together, but they quickly accommodated us with a standard room with 2 queens.
Uggh, that would have been terrible. The location is fantastic. It’s as close as you can get in Vail Village to the ‘ski out the back’. Still a good value. Oh, and they have free wifi.

We stayed in a hotel room at the Lodge At Vail over the weekend and absolutely loved it. The Lodge is conveniently located with a door leading out to Vail Village, Elway’s Restaurant is nestled into the 3^rd floor and the amenities were fantastic. One of the nicest hotel rooms that I have ever stayed in and I would stay with them again at any time.
The Unilocal reviews of this place are a bit bi-polar…either past guests have loved it or absolutely hate it. From what I can tell, the major complaints are: lack of air conditioning in hotel rooms and low, cabin-​like ceilings. Let me just say — after staying in a non-​A/​C room in the middle of summer I was able to open a window, turn on the ceiling fan as needed and feel more than comfortable with the clean crisp Colorado Rockies mountain air circulating. A/​C is somewhat of a crime in Vail. The low ceilings only felt that way because of the natural wood beams across the hotel room — it’s called the Lodge after all, if you’re looking for vaulted ceilings this is not your place. But it did give us a comfortable, cozy natural feel. The staff at the Lodge At Vail from the bartender at Elway’s to the concierge to the valet parking attendant who shuttled us over to a bar Saturday night when we weren’t sure how to get there on foot were wonderful and completely took care of us.
Being that the Lodge is one of the original Vail hotels I very much appreciated the renovation work they were doing in their original rooms to give guests updated technology amenities, like the iPod dock-​enabled alarm clock and flat screen tvs. Outside amenities like the fitness center, spa and pool/​sauna/​jacuzzi area were also completely updated. I appreciated the romantic old-​school arches and architecture combined with the upgraded conveniences.
My only «issue» with the Lodge is really my issue with Vail itself — frankly the pricing is a bit ridiculous. We were lucky enough to be part of a group that helped offset those costs last weekend but I’m not sure we’ll be heading back there again without some significant incentives or a major event to celebrate.
Bottom line: if the economics of Vail doesn’t bother you, the Lodge at Vail is a wonderful place to call «home» for your stay.

I stayed here for my friend’s wedding that was happening in Vail.
We got a great deal on priceline. And it probably helped it wasn’t the high peak summer time or the high peak ski time.
It’s fantastic!
The staff is wonderful and friendly. We had a great time. I felt like the service was top notch at this resort.
The gym’s big and spacious. Lots of cardio machines. Plenty of weight machines and free weights too. They have a beautiful pool and hot tub and water fall which we didn’t have time to enjoy.
The rooms I don’t know why but the ceilings were really low. It made me really feel like I was staying in a wooden lodge.
They only have valet parking but if you don’t MHD walking during the summer season there is a free public parking lot.
They do have free business center too.

Excellent, friendly, informative and surprisingly unpretentious service all the way from the valets, and front desk to the room staff.
Free fresh filtered water bottles everyday. (Although the tap water is super cold and awesome tasting anyway) Small fridge in the room to keep your things cold in. Heated towel rack in the bathroom. Great beds and bedding, maybe too nice I didn’t want to get out of bed in the morning.
The ULTRA FLUFFY and soft robes provided at this resort are unquestionably the most comfortable thing I’ve ever worn. SUPER Warm even after getting them wet from one of the best outdoor spa’s I’ve ever been in. With a HUGE waterfall and grotto. A stones throw from Vista Bahn!
I should also tell you about the chamomile turn down service with Italian chocolates as well as the awesome gym and spa that’s here. Don’t worry if you work out too hard they have a steam room, sauna and indoor spas as well that are top notch.
Location is perfect, a very short walk to the Vista Bahn lift.
