Jimmy’s Food & Drink

I was hopeful, but I won’t be coming back here. Things seemed overpriced, for the quality, and we didn’t receive the correct order. The kids mac and cheese was Kraft from a box, the walleye fingers were mostly breading and nominal fish (super greasy too), my son received the wrong meat (asked for lamb, got chicken) but he didn’t say anything and I didn’t notice until too late. The chicken gyro was dry and spiced weirdly and the sauce in the gyro didn’t taste like the stuff you get at a middle eastern restaurant. The kids fruit cup was in a plastic container, like we were on an airplane. The servers were nice and showed up often enough, but you can get better food across the street at Perkins. The parking lot is always busy, if not overflowing, but I guess people go for the beer and TVs (which are everywhere). Seriously, don’t get the gyros.

Just ate here, there’s good and there’s bad.
The good:
Food was really good for a sports place. Serves about what you’d think one would. I had a club sandwich and it was great, tater tots good as well. My wife had a veggie pizza she said was good not great. Service was excellent.
The bad:
The drinks were not good at all. The happy hour deal was 2 for 1. My wife said her gin and tonics were just okay. I got whiskey sours with Knob Creek. Mine were light on both whiskey and sour. It tasted like it was either super watered down, or had been made with soda water or something weird like that. Disappointing for sure. Also, the music. So awful. I was there to eat and watch the NBA Western Conference Finals game 7, and while there plenty of televisions to choose from, 90’s music, and then bad pop and country were playing over the speakers. I don’t go to Sports Bars to listen to En Vogue, Taylor Swift, Joan Osborne, and Mandy Moore.
Taken into account the food (4 stars) and the drinks (2 stars) I give it a three. I want to give 2.5 for the awful, awful sports bar music, but I can’t. So I’ll round up because I love good club sandwiches and can’t get them in Berlin where we reside.

Delicious apps and chicken. Wasn’t really busy when me and my friends went. Our server was nice and had patience with me due to me not to know what to order. Would come back again if i’m around the area.

I can’t stand this place, great drink specials and great service, but horrible management. This place could be so much better

Turkey dinner at Jimmy’s? Never again. Mashed potato’s. looked more like a Carmel Sunday. potato’s were as cold as ice cream. The stuffing looked like three dog turds on the plate. Gravy must have been used with ocean water, way too salty. Everything on the plate was cold except the gravy. It was a little warmer than room temp. Server took our order. Never say her again tell she asked, do you want your bill? No one ever came around to ask how the meal was.
This is the third time in a row we had a bad meal there. So Three strikes and your out.

New menu since I was last here. Onion rings were less than desirable and the portion was small. But that didn’t matter as who wants more of something that tastes like crap. It also seems that others have perhaps noticed the changes to jimmys as it was less than full capacity something that in the past would have been a rarity…

The times and prices are a changing, this pretty much leaves me out. Just too many choices., and someone has too lose. Sorry Jim

Reliable bar food and good happy hour specials. Always fairly crowded in the evening. Have had chicken wings, nachos, and hot hoagie with fries and all were good but not great. 2 for 1 beers are a good deal during evening happy hour.

We have been going to Jimmy’s since it was no longer Ruberto’s.
Recently we went for tacos on a Tuesday, which we have been doing for many years. We know that wait staff, and have reasonably great service for a long time.
This recent Tuesday, we went and ordered that tacos.
The waitress delivered our basket of tacos with multi colored tortilla chips.
When I tried to, pick up my taco, it was dripping with grease, and when I looked in my basket, I had a river of grease dogging my tortilla chips and dripping off of my soft taco shells.
I called the waitress over snd showed her; she to, d us that even she would not attempt to eat these tacos. I will not mention her name, because I respect her honesty and integrity.
When she brought our baskets back to the chef, she came back with this reply. «There have been many complaints about the greasy tacos, but the chef told me ‘it is what it is’».
We paid our bill, left the greasy mess, and have not returned since.
Shame on you, Jimmy… we won’t be back…

I’m in the area on business and love the 2 for 1 happy hour! Just a note though, that when you order your drink they will bring 2 drinks out for you at the same time. The place always seems to be busy with all kinds of people and the food is decent. Worth a drop in if you’re in the area and looking for a place for drinks or a bite.

Me and my wife love Jimmys, 2 for 1 happy hour with great foods great services. Staff are friendly. Recently they even providing free popcorn, tase much better tgan theaters. Oh did I mentioned very good price?

Every time my travels bring me to the Twin Cities, I make sure to have at least 1 meal at Jimmy’s. The food is great, the service is prompt and friendly, and there are great happy hour deals. But the thing I love most about Jimmy’s is the ambiance.
One side is more of a sports bar with neon beer signs, dart boards, and high top tables. The other side is a sports restaurant with booths and tables and plenty of televisions showing games and trivia. Amongst the tables it’s common to find several tables together with large families or softball teams. I also like all of the charity events that Jimmy’s gets involved with or sponsors. There are plaques lining the walls from softball teams and charities. That’s the type of business I like to support, one that is successful and supports the community that supports them.
The ambiance of Jimmy’s has something for everyone, and the menu does too. Some of my favorites are the chicken wild rice soup, the strawberry salad, and the walleye fingers. Make sure to try a dinner roll with some of their whipped garlic butter, it’s delicious!

The food wasn’t as good as i thought it would be and the customer service was terrible. We waited over an hour for our food, and another 30minutes for our checks. This was my second time there and the first time we were able to just go up front to pay our bill but this time the lady asked us to sit back down because we had to wait for our waitress and she also told us there was nothing she could do to help us.
When our food finally arrived, not once or twice but three times they mixed/​messed up our orders.
I also went with a large group of people and when one of our friends showed up my cousin got up to shake his hands, a waitress some how thought that my cousin was trying to steal an extra chair and she yelled really loud «I need that chair!» And grabbed it rudely away.

This place is a bar. They serve bar food and alcohol. Nothing wrong with that!
They also have a happy hour. The kind of happy hour that sneaks up on you and yells «SURPRISE!!!» if you don’t read the fine print on the menu before ordering. The waitress arrived with double the number of drinks we had ordered… because it was 2-​for-​1 happy hour. Talk about happy!
We also had a couple of appetizers but I have no idea if they were happy hour priced or regular priced. The onion rings were good but nothing unique. We also had the walleye fingers. Our waitress cautiously recommended the cajun variety after asking if we were alright with spicy food. I don’t know that I would call them «spicy» but they were good. Crispy breading and tender fish that steams a little when you break them open because they were served that quickly after cooking.
In total, the waitress brought the three of us (me plus two friends from college days) three entire trays of beers, gin & tonics and a couple of sodas. She also proffered two pretty good appetizers and we had a solid 4 hours of catching up… all for the low, low price of $ 44.

Breakfast is greasy — even too greasy for me (which is saying something). My plate has a grease puddle (my order was Meat and Potatoes). Friends with greasy sandwiches, not even good.

Jimmys is the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food is seriously so bad it hurts me that people eat here. For a bar, it’s ok. Just don’t eat the food unless you’re blackout drunk and have no tastebuds.

I had a pretty good salad here. The service was a bit on the slow side, but the server was friendly and professional. I’d come back.

I’ll preface this one with saying that the only reason we dropped by Jimmy’s was because we knew they had pool tables and play boards. Bar-​go was going on, which was pretty funny watching old people (I won’t give age ranges for fear of retribution at the next meet up haha!) swear at each like I normally would during bingo. Happy hour 2 for 1s was also going on, and they have a lengthy list of happy hour apps. Can see that being a huge draw if you need to unwind after work, drown out some sorrow or make ugly women look more attractive.
But, I was there to whoop the woman up in darts and pool. We just happened to get food along the way. Parking is a mess there. Big lot shared by a strip mall, so you may have to park around the mall a bit, or in the hotel parking lot — take your pick. There is a bar area, pool table area, and a dining area. So you can take your pick of what place to sit in. Very nice touch really.
I opted for the chicken kabobs, chicken, veggies and pineapple over wild rice with a teriyaki glaze. She went with the chicken parm sammy. We skipped the apps so neither of us had an excuse of greasy finger for the showdown.
The kabobs were very well done. Good pieces of chicken boob, grilled nicely, the sweet/​salty mix of the teriyaki and pineapple was solid. Steamed veggies weren’t over done, which was a really pleasant surprise. Rice was done perfectly as well, not with hard pieces here or there or too mushy. Got quite a few skewers too (5 or 6, memory is fuzzy on that specific detail), so it actually felt like a meal, unlike some other kabob meals where you get tiny little things that feel more like an app than a meal.
Chicken parm sammy was really good too. Good red sauce over it, not too sweet of a sauce, but sweet enough to go well with the meat. Not a horrible amount of breading either, which meant we actually tasted the chicken. Only gripe, the ciabata roll was way too much bread for the meat. We went with only using the bottom piece otherwise you taste nothing but garlic bread.
Service was very solid through out, Danika did a great job. Darts had extra tips for the occasion when you break one, a very nice touch. Pool tables were decently maintained, no felt tears that jumped out at me.
Overall, no complaints and a solid place… and I avenged my bowling alley beatdown with stomping her in both darts and pool. So, again, no complaints!

Park in the back! It was packed the night I went with a group of friends; I decided that the entire town of White Bear Lake must have shown up. Here’s what my ish was — one of our friends ordered on a separate check and he got his food way before the rest of the party. I got the line «I just saw it come up» and lo and behold, ours came out twenty minutes later. Luckily, our friend shared, I mean we were salivating and leering at his Asian sauce wings.
The madness didn’t end there. Their «birthday shot» that’s free is kind of a lame deal. Yes, rail is to be expected, but the addition of cranberry juice if you decide to add a little something is extra. Not sure about soda.
The food wasn’t bad, but not all that great. The wait staff definitely could have been more friendly and attentive. I go through water like I’m a fish and had to wait for my ice to melt for a wee taste.

First off, our server was excellent! Really patient, helpful and just an all around pleasure.

The gal delivering our food, not so much. She seemed less than thrilled to see two babies occupying the booth.
They have a pretty good sized menu and a lot of good choices for sandwiches, salads, burgers, entrees and appetizers. Plenty to choose from for bar/​pub type food and its pretty good quality.
Ordered the reuben which I have to say was pretty good. Thick consistency of meat which I like. I should have remembered to hold the thousand island. The marble bread was good and the sandwich all around was very good.
Their waffle fries and seasoned sour cream were also good. An extra charge, but worth it.
The place is quite large inside with tables along wall outside. Definitely a place to meet up with people after work or to grab some appetizers.
