While I do love the teachers, the AMA program was a total waste of money. First of all, the «degree» itself is so useless that hiring personnel actually tell you to remove it from your resume for fear of appearing like a sucker, none of the credits can be transferred to a real college, and the «career placement» is a joke. I get sporadic emails about part time positions in other counties… monster does more than that. That is job placement?
AMA itself is a glorified computers course that forces you to spend 5 hrs in class every night with 2 hours of work, twiddling your thumbs for the rest. I will mention again, though, that the teachers were amazing and really fun to speak with. I admire their passion and wish I could say a single good thing about the program itself but it is a scam. Most of the people I attended with are working for minimum wage somewhere outside of the medical industry, or still unemployed. Buyers beware.

If there was zero stars i would have pressed that because this school deserves no good recognition. From the beginning of the LVN program the school and most of the teachers make you feel welcome and encourage you to stay. After the allowed 7 days you have to make a desicion if you want to stay it goes down hill! Mrs. Jennifer is one of the worst heartless human beings to deal with at the school. I missed my allowed time to miss due to «personal reasons» when one of the reasons was because no one communicated a schedule for vacation days. Another was becuase my sister was leaving to the army. Now the reason they were going to kick me out was because i was sick and got sent home. You shouldnt be around sick people while your sick or taking care of people even if your on antibiotics. Just because you are taking antibiotics doesnt magically mean that you are healed. This lady swears she knows everything even about my habits and daily living at home. She told me that i dont eat what im suppose to do and an unhealthy male. I have this all recorded as do they. But to be warned if you join this school, they only bring up recording and video for things they want to prove not for what you want to prove. They honestly are out for money and are unsympathetic towards people. I am sorry for every second i wasted trying to go to a place like this. DO NOT ATTEND COLLEGE HERE FOR THE NURSING PROGRAM. YOU WILL GRT SCREWED OVER! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! OH and not to mention, other people in my class had missed more hours than i have and didnt even have to do half the things i had to do. I was going to have to be evaluated by a counsil and had to make an appeal letter and provide proof of ALL ABSENCES. Mrs. Jennifer wanted me to get flight information and email my sister that cant get an email in boot camp to get her army papers. She said this is possible since 2 of her sons got sent to the army. These were just some of the things that went wrong here and i hope no one has to go through the things i did at Blake Austin College.

I was leary in the beginning about choosing a career college. But after having a few friends who have went thru the program and speaking to medical assistants in the field who went to this school i was convinced to at least give it a try.
When you enroll you have 7 days to decide to whether the class is for you or not with no strings attached. After my 1^st few days there I understood why everyone speaks so highly and recommended this school. The instructors there make a perfect team balancing each other out and are truly sincere about people succeeding in their career. When you meet them you get the chance to understand that they know a lot and they want to pass it along to make you the best you can be. They train you not just the theory or practical part but also about teamwork, being prepared and how to be successful in a competitive industry.
Hands down I would recommend this school to anyone who takes their future serious and wants and career. It may be more expensive than some competitors however ask around at different offices their reputation is great, they are up to date and teach you what you need to be successful.

My name is Nina. I wanted to share with you all my candid experience as a clinical medical assistant with phlebotomy student at Blake Austin College. My journey started late 2013 when I figured out I wanted to be in the medical field. R.N. programs had years of waiting programs, and they were very far away living in Vacaville. I talked to my parents and asked if they would help me with finances to start here. So I gave them a call and looked at my options. We started out with a tour. I Met Ms. Candy and Mr.A. who turned out to be the best teachers and role models I’ve ever had in my life besides family. I took a tour of the class and the environment. I got really excited. Now I know finances are a huge problem. I’m definitely from a low income family and I was worried. .was this school too good to be true?! Turns out we were able to sit down with the financial aid counselors and I was able to take a low cost 6% loan. For someone as young as me, little to crap credit history… at the time no credit. And no job history and to get a loan like that was awesome. It shows they have faith in their students. my payments were affordable $ 131.48 for 2 years.
My orientation was 1.3.13 ms. Candy was running the show. I’ll never forget her words. «You’re here because you want a career. You’re tired of having a j.o.b. — just over broke.» She’s a very strong courageous honest woman. We had also met Mr. A who gave us our uniform vouchers, etc. He’s an awesome teacher with a great sense of humour but he is humble and has a lot of experience to offer.
My school started 1.13.14. It was a very nerve wrecking day. But it was the first day to the rest of my life. 10 months of the most learning, fun, intense, emotional, intimate, growing experiences you as a person and as a class go through. My first day of externship was 9.15.14. You do learn in school but it’s nothing like what you learn on externship. Blake Austin college really does do one heck of a job preparing us for our externships. I was always hearing about how outstanding we are and how excellent and professional we are trained. I was assigned to dr. William O’Connor office in Vacaville for medical. assistant and Vaca valley hospital for phlebotomy externship.
They offer externship assistance, so they assign you to outstanding externship sites as part of your tuition.
For licensure and certification they do help you step by step with the process so it is impossible to get lost. I’m not exactly the swiftest learner and I got through it with their help!
Also when you graduate they offer job placement assistance. As of last week was hired as a Medical Assistant at California Medical Facility, Vacaville.
If you are ready to dive in to the medical field and make your dreams come true without excuses, Blake Austin College is definitely for you. I come from a large family, 6 kids, low /​1 income, 1 car, medical problems, chronic pain. But I never let it stop me. If I can do it, so can you!

STAY AWAY! This school deserves no .
This place is no good if you want to make it it in the industry. They are super expensive, and rape you for every cent you have. You are not allowed to take anytime off without being punished. You can’t ever be sick or miss a Friday or Saturday (for anything, nothing is a good excuse) or you will be suspended. You do get an allowed number of hours you can miss, with the exception of a Friday or Saturday, but once you use those allotted hours, you are required to pay per hour to finish school, even though you just financed a loan for over $ 20,000. They have cameras everywhere so they can spy on your every move.
The owner of the school and the principal of the school Jonie and Mrs. Janice are heartless and should not even be allowed to teach. They have no sympathy for life what so ever. Mrs. Janice asked a student after yelling at her and calling her a liar if the student was going to talk shit about her to all the other students. How is that even professional? Really?! Cussing at students. And don’t think that this doesn’t happen in front of clients.
Do not waste your time going here, unless you have a lot of time or are rich. And if you are rich, I’d hope you would attend an elite school. This is definitely not one of them.

STAY AWAY from this «Nursing» program! The administrators are only interested in keeping your money. They don’t care about the student’s success. Communication sucks. Teaching supplies are OLD, it’s unorganized and the director of nursing only comes out of her office to yell at you. Blake Austin is a JOKE!

Past student here. Just doing my civic duty by telling all wanna be lvns to STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL. They screwed me over more times that I can count. Everyone in my class HATED IT. They have NO communication. Clinical sites HATE them. All their teaching supplies are OLD. I had to pass a clinical exam using my IMAGINATION and PRETENDING I had supplies to clean a trach. ARE YOU KIDDING. Blake Austin is a JOKE!

First off I’m a past student for the dental program and I feel like giving my expirenece will give future students a better understanding. The instructors were great ms. jenny and ms. Julie are amazing the were insiteful and well organized as we’ll as having a great understanding of how dental offices in the real world works. If you had any question or if you were struggling they would sit down and break it all down for you til you could do it in your sleep. External ip was some what difficult they placed me at a office where they knew hey were looking for a assistant and I got hired on the spot! After working in that office for a year I called up Blake Austin and told ms. julie I’m looking for a new job the next week I got three dental offices calling me to come interview the school sent over all the paperwork so I didn’t have to dig around looking for my certificate. I also had a friend who went threw the program with me and she has been placed i5 different offices threw Blake Austin!

Went here when the school was CSI in 2007. The teachers were nice but they never helped me with job placement like promised. I had a HOrRiBLE externship and when I told them they told me to just press on. Thank god I’m almost in nursing school because this was a waste of my time.

I just recently got accepted into the LVN program and could not be happier with my choice… I had checked out a bunch of other schools but had decided on this school because of the feel I got when I walked into those doors… I not only felt like people were aiming for me to succeed but I also loved the classrooms and the cleanliness. Jennifer the admissions girl is just the sweetest and always answer me to all my questions with great explanations.
I am excited to start my program and will up date this as soon as I start up some schooling to add more input on teachers and such…

Why didn’t I choose this school??? Rudest staff I’ve ever encountered. I’m sorry you spend your day trying to convince people to enroll but you accepted the job! So do your job without issue. Leave the teeth sucking and sighing at the door.

You want my opinion? This school is horrible! Well, not the teachers or the girls working the front desk. But the owner and the administrators are highly unprofessional, rude, and unorganized. I was told to withdraw from the program because they haven’t dealt with a disabled student in 10 years and didn’t know how to handle the situation!!! All the other schools handle disabled students with ease. The owner says she needs some time to speak to her attorney, and once she does I could possibly start on the next start date.
So, the owner never got back to me so I called and left numerous messages, with no response. Every time i call to check status I’m forwarded to the voice mail. So, I called as my maiden name and immediately I’m assisted. I find out the next start dates from the admissions officer. And, 5 minutes later, they retracted their statements. lol This rude site administrator, Janice Moses, calls me and says she knows «All about me», she has seen all my emails and gotten all my voice mails and I just «Don’t get it». She says, «Yes you can attend but we don’t have any definitive start dates». Then I ask her why the admissions officer told me 2 different start dates 5 minutes before” Funny how once they determined it was «Nicol, the disabled girl» there aren’t any new start dates.
I have never had such a horrible experience and I have never had a professional person speak to me so rudely, especially not a school administrator. So, all the bad reviews on here show that the problem starts with the foundation of the school. Don’t let the pretty décor fool you. They even had cockroaches in the classroom!!!

Today I took part in the Solano County «California Statewide Medical and Health Disaster Exercise.» Students from Blake Austin were on hand to do the «moulage» (fancy word for mock injuries). They gave me a fake head injury (like something heavy hit me in the forehead and split my skin) and did a great job!
I’d include a picture but it’s awfully realistic looking and I don’t think most people would appreciate seeing it. Besides, I can’t figure out how to add a pic — what’s up with that, Unilocal

Well for starters I am not a student but a customer, so from my point of view I love this place! You really can’t beat the prices, and the girls who works here (whether on your hair, nails, etc.) always take their time. What they sometimes lack is obviously confidence in doing things because they can’t always practice on real people– they make up for by taking their time and doing things slowly and correctly.
Don’t think you can go in and out in five minutes, they take a while to make sure things are perfect, they are being graded after all. The prices are awesome, but the students don’t make a profit at all. The girls only make money through tips, so make sure to tip them!
Not only are their prices amazing but their decoration is too cool! :) It’s so nice inside, nothing looks cheap at all. I don’t know how to describe how amazing this place it, you really need to try them out! Nicki is the best! :D haha

THIS IS A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE!
I just had the galvanic royale facial at the Nut Tree Plaza location and let me tell you it was church!
Both my husband and I have had many facials over the years and so I was familiar with them and knew what to expect.
Not this time!
Everyone on Earth should experience this at least once in their lives. Ask for Jenna. Her fingers are magic, the water droplets on the face, the smells, the music, the steam, the hot towels, the exotic brushes, the machines, the lotions, the potions, the cleansers, more hot towels, more steam, on and on and on it went.
I couldn’t get off the table!
I couldn’t understand one word Jenna said afterwards.
My body felt like lead and I literally couldn’t move.
Then 2 lil tears came out of my left eye all by themselves and that is when I knew I had just had the greatest facial of my entire life.
(It was so humbling. At first it was sort of embarrassing because I couldn’t «get my act together» and so I just decided to go with the flow.)

Graduated as a CMA/​Phlebotomist in January 2011. My experience at Blake Austin College was a very positive one. The instructors for this program were very knowledgeable, helpful and genuinely motivated to help us succeed. Both of my externships were great opportunities to utilize the skills I’d learned, and I was pleased to find I’d been well prepared. The unfortunate thing is that with the economy being what it is, all too often jobs are asking for more work experience, and undoubtedly can find applicants meeting that criteria. If job placement was part of the deal, I’d give a 5 star rating! All of that said, I recently found a full-​time job, that I love, as an MA– so perseverance does pay off!

While this school costs A LOT of Money and is or was completely unorganized with minimal space to perform skills their main goal truly is to make you pass your boards, improve their pass rates and that is about it. You will be able to pass boards effortlessly IF you do pass their classes. BUT although advertised they do not help you find a job, their clinical sites will have you prepared to be a nurse at a nursing home and that is about it, their pre reqs that added on to the cost are non transferable and close to pointless. They are not concerned about student’s schedule/​how they are doing, it is more a «sink or swim, they supply the certificate you supply the education» program. That being said if you have the money will power you can be an amazing nurse with the LVN program. They will give you the supplies to learn what you need book wise not quite the same level of education for the clinical side. A few teachers honestly care about how you are doing and will try to help you, but if the higher ups find you are falling behind their reaction is not to help you catch up but to cut you off. Any nurse that actually made it through the program is definitely competent. If you want a quick self-​taught crash course in nursing, you have found the right place.
