Astar Driving School

Love Jodi she is the best!!! she thought me the tricks for parking and we talked about things to do around town that helped me calm my nerve lol. She made me have more confidence in myself that helped me a lot. i would recommend this school to everyone!!!

Our experience with Astar was mixed. My son only had two lessons with them because he was older and not required to do 6 hours, but we felt that he would benefit from professional instruction all the same. The first session was cut a little short. I thought maybe they would make up the time on the next one, but the second session was even shorter because the instructor went to the wrong part of town looking for our house, even with clear directions. Also, she had a dog in the backseat, which wasn’t a big deal, I suppose. My son passed his driving test, but just barely, even though the instructor said he was ready. My daughter is ready for her lessons and we are definitely going elsewhere.

I just brought my son to Astar Driving School and I am so happy I did! My son had taken a driving lesson with another school and it was not a good experience for him. I contacted Astar, after seeing their vehicles driving around town, and asked if they would be able to take my son at their school, even though he had started lessons elsewhere. They were very accommodating and he just had his first lesson with them today. The owner of the school, Jodi, was so nice and welcoming. The driving instructor, Anna, was so good with my son. He learned a lot from Anna in just one lesson. He had a great experience, and we are really looking forward to his next lesson!

Jodi is the BEST!!! I am an Indian and I had no clue what it is like to drive in the US. My first class, she was late but she was so polite to give me a discount. She made me feel so comfortable behind the wheels and took me through every small details. She gave me all the materials to prepare for the written test and I cleared it the first time itself. I could not get my behind the wheel test completed because of the mess that the DMV Vacaville had done and it was time for me to return to India. But I think of Jodi every time I get behind the wheels. I follow every single rule because she taught me to. She will come with you to the DMV to get the appointments. I never had to depend on my husband to get through the DMV process. She really wanted to see me through the driving test. I am back in the US and I will be applying for a license again. Choosing A-​star was one of the right decisions we made.

We chose Astar Driving School because we frequently saw them driving through our neighborhood (come to find out we are on the DMV test route), and my daughter wanted to take her driving lessons in a Dodge Challenger. Since Astar had good reviews online (comparable to others) I was ok with choosing them based upon car type. When I made the first appointment I requested the Challenger. When John showed up for the first lesson in the Mustang, I said tough luck kid, it’s really not about the car anyway. Off they went, and when they returned lo and behold they were in a Challenger. Apparently my daughter brought up her request for the Challenger during the lesson and they stopped by to switch cars. Shallowness aside (chuckle); my daughter really liked John. He has a funny personality that matched well with my daughter’s silly personality. We requested John for the second lesson and this time he showed up in the Challenger. Again a successful lesson. Her last lesson was scheduled for the evening before her actual drivers license test, as John recommended taking the last lesson as close to the DMV test as possible. For the sake of consistency here, John actually showed up in the Mustang but at this point car type really was irrelevant as it was dress rehearsal time and she was focused on fine tuning her skills, not worried about what care she got. My daughter took her driving test the following morning and only missed 1 on the test. John had her very well prepared for the test while keeping it light and fun for her. We never had any issues with scheduling or cancellations other than a request to reschedule earlier in the day which we were able to accommodate so it wasn’t an issue.

I wasn’t happy with Astar Driving School. The female instructor arrived to pick up my daughter with a Chihuahua in the back seat; very unprofessional, and very nerve wracking for my daughter’s first driving lesson! I’m extremely surprised that AStar allows this. The instructor also thought it very strange that I asked for a receipt for my payment. My daughter did learn a lot from this lesson; however, the ‘backseat Chihuahua” is the reason that AStar gets a one-​star.

I chose Astar as a school to go to prepare for my permit and my teacher was Jodi and she is just the best! I passed my permit test the first time!!! She gives the best advice and goes over practice tests with you and her class is so much fun and definitely worth it. A week later I took my first driving lesson with her and I was very nervous. She made this experience so easy for me and I loved her patience especially since it takes me time to get used to new things. She really made me enjoy my 2 hours and I learned so much! She will pick and drop you off wherever your at! I highly recommend her class and her driving lessons. Any staff member is super friendly and I recommend them all! Definitely will be doing the rest of my driving lessons with her!

We as parents’ dreed the moment when you’re kid comes up to you and says «I wanna start driving, can I take Driver’s Ed/​Training»? A part of you want’s to say «Ahhhhh HELLLLZZZZ NO!!!» but then the other part of you thinks…“hmmmmm…run my errands and he/​she can drive to school”. Ok maybe this might not be too bad.
Before I begin telling you about this AWESOME driving school. Let me give you some important information…
Your child can begin driver’s Ed (reading part) at age 15−½. Once the course is complete he/​she can go to DMV and take a written test to get a permit. This will allow the child to train behind the wheel with an adult.
Your child will then need to sign up for Driver’s Training. This is basically a company that will teach your child how to drive behind the wheel. This is needed if he/​she is not 18 years old, otherwise they do not need to take Driver’s Training and can go straight to DMV to take their behind the wheel test for their driver’s license.
Since my lil man refused to wait until he was 18, I knew I had to find a Driver’s Training school and I found Astar. I’m so happy I did. The course was 6 months long (a standard for all schools). The 6 months course, is basically 3 (2 hours behind the wheel) course. It’s 6 months, because you can’t take the 2^nd course until 2 months after the first one. The cost at the time was $ 300 (subject to change). I know you’re probably saying…“dang that is a lot”!!
Let’s just say it was all worth it, because my lil man, PASSED! Yup! Holla at me! *high five* He pass!!! Only did 2 errors. His teacher was Jody and I highly recommend her (I think she is the owner) my son specifically requested her. The cool thing about this company is they picked up my son at school and dropped him off at a designated place which I requested. This saved me time, since I was working.
If you have a child who needs Driver’s Ed/Training…look no further! This is the place for you. Very punctual, a friendly staff, and the last course is set up a couple of days before the DMV test, regardless of how busy they are. They will find time to make it work.
FYI…once your kid has a driver’s license, he/​she cannot have a minor passenger in the car for 1 year. If he/​she has good grades bring it to your insurance company, some company’s offer a discount on your policy

Personal and dedicated attention for our daughter. Picked up and delivered with only one person driving in the car the entire lesson. More personal experience. And she passed. Jodi was great.

I needed more practice on the highway before I got my license and chose A Star Driving. My instructor was Anna and she was just the sweetest. She made driving around Fairfield comfortable and even took me on the highway. Definitely recommend!

My friend moved into town from China and needed to get a CA DL. Called Jodi to schedule a 2 hour lesson so my friend could get familiarized with American driving. Jodi was very nice over the phone, told me what options my friend has. Then on the day of lessons, Ana actually was the one taught her. My friend said Ana was very nice and professional. Very patient and gave her lots of useful information.
Then on the testing day, Jodi went with my friend and she PASSED! 99 points! DMV was backed up and Jodi patiently waited with my friend, during the wait time, Jodi gave her some very useful information about the town and things to do.etc.
Overall a great experience with two great ladies! I would recommend them 1000% Thank you ladies for helping my friend getting her DL. Keep up the good work!

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her experience with A Star. Jody, the owner, was her instructor, and aside from her being an enjoyable person, she was very patient and was always prompt. I’m sorry to read of negative feedback about this company but my daughter’s experience was all positive. More importantly she passed her driver’s test with flying colors! I totally recommend this company for your teen’s drivers training.

My son had a great experience with both instructors Jodi and Anna. They were very patient and really took the time to provide him with everything he needed to know. He also passed his test the first time around.
The staff is very accommodating whenever I called to schedule an appointment. Appointments were kept and instructors were prompt. They have a variety of vehicles to offer and the ones my son used were in tip top shape. I highly recommend this school. Excellent, knowledgable and dependable staff.
