Christine’s Cakes & Pastries

A friend referred me to this bakery. When I arrived the staff was very friendly and it smelled wonderful. I ordered a few items to try. One of the items was cookies for my granddaughter who is 2 years old. They were pleasantly decorated like flowers. We were planting flowers that day. She ate the cookies and wanted me to buy more. I will definitely go back to try other bakery items. It is conveniently located and easy to get to.

The raspberry almond torte was equally beautiful and delicious. Customer service was perfect just as it has been every time we go in. We have ordered cakes for special occasions as well as popped in for a treat. Highly recommended.

Had a large order and Christine’s prepared all 3 cakes to perfection! The staff was very helpful and communicated well from the moment I placed the order up until pick up day for my sisters birthday party. I will definitely be placing all of my future party orders at this establishment; amazing taste and service to say the least!

This is the biggest joke of a bakery. Had my mothers 50^th birthday cake made here and when I picked it up the cake was slanted and the flowers and design of the cake was destroyed. Bonnie, the store manager refused to accommodate me in any way. I would never recommend any of my family or friends to ever waste a penny at this business. The do not care about their customers. I’ve spent a lot of money at this bakery and for the manager not to accommodate me in any way is just sad. Do not waste ur time or money, Bonnie does not care anyway.

I was a little hesitant to try this bakery after reading some of the reviews but I had a serious sweet tooth and needed some relief. My family and I dropped by late Saturday evening, just before Super bowl Sunday. Although options were limited, everything looked and smelled amazing. Staff was nice and helpful, they walked me through a few options and assisted me with picking out a cake for my Dad’s birthday.
I told staff it was our 1^st time there, and kids walked away with free sugar cookies and I got a free bumpy cupcake. Overall, Chocolate cake is not my fav, but OMG, the cake here was so moist and finger licking good (seriously I licked my fingers).
Great service and great cakes. We will be back!

They make great cakes but their quality has gone down as their price has gone up. There staff has always been rude but you let that slide with the delicious cake.

The butter cookies are simply adorable and delicious, super cute around any holiday. The cakes can be good, the last cake I got was so old it shouldn’t have been sold. I intended on getting my wedding cake from them several years ago, but the customer service we received was so poor we left and ordered somewhere else, and I’m so glad we did. I’d love to see another bakery in the area with quality products and friendly customer service so I could stop spending my money here.

We could not be more pleased with how our wedding cake turned out for our May 16^th wedding! Not only was it delicious, and moist, it was breathtakingly beautiful. Working with Christine to design our perfect cake was a very enjoyable experience as well. She is knowledgable, very nice to speak with, and can turn any of your cake dreams into reality. She also advised us on exactly how much to buy so that we did not have too much or too little. We used Christine’s for the cupcakes for our wedding shower as well, and were blown away. From this day forward I will never get my cakes or baked goods from anywhere else!

My husband and I got our wedding shower cake, wedding favor for guests, and wedding cupcakes with Christine’s. Staff is friendly and helpful. They are always willing to give ideas and direction on what you want and are workable/​flexible
Wedding shower individual conversation heart cakes: I think this was a bigger challenge for Christine’s as the design of the cake and work put into it was hard. However, they did a great job and did exactly what we wanted. The cake was their white batter and it is delicious. They delivered it to our venue as well.
Wedding Cookie favor for guests: This was another more «custom» design and Christine’s had to get creative with how to accomplish it. I believe we used the small cookie size for this as the price for the design was expensive enough. Their cookies are amazing and nothing you have ever tasted. Our wedding guests ate their cookies before leaving and couldn’t stop raving about them. Christine’s gives the option of bagging the cookie for you or you can bag the cookies yourself. The bagging/​ribbon is of course extra and if Christine’s bags them for you then they put their bakery sticker information on the back.
Wedding Cupcakes” My then fiancé, mother, and fiancé’s mother all met with Christine’s to talk about the wedding cupcakes. The room was pretty small for all 5 us and the table was as well (I got the feeling the bakery doesn’t normally have this many people involved when ordering a wedding cake though). However, I think a larger area to go over wedding orders and what not wouldn’t be a bad idea? Christine was friendly, not overly friendly and seemed stressed or in a rush? Still helpful and knowledgeable though. Also, like most wedding venues, she focused on the bride and continued to ask, «what does the bride want?» Pretty much overlooking the groom and his opinions. We decided on two different cupcakes with two different flavors and frosting colors. We upgraded to the foil looking cupcake wrappers and added silver candied balls and glitter like topping on the cupcakes. The bride/​groom and wedding party then share a small cake. We used our venue’s cupcake stand and our venue placed the cupcakes on the stand (this saved some money). The great thing about Christine’s is instead of saving any of your wedding cake to eat on your one-​year anniversary they give you a coupon for a complimentary 6 inch cake of any flavor. This coupon is good all year for your one-​year anniversary.
Overall — no issues with Christine’s. You obviously get what you pay for and it can be pricey, but it is worth it and they do not disappoint.

Cakes, cookies etc are all great and I would have given this place 5 stars but the staff is just rude and don’t go out of there way! The time it took her to explain how they couldn’t put a flipping cookie in a bag with a ribbon, they would have had five done already. Oh but if you walk in and want a cake personalized they would do that!

I went in to get some pricing for my daughters 1^st birthday. The staff was extremely helpful they even gave me a free cupcake and 2 cookies! I will definitely get her cake from here!

This is our favorite place hands down. Pricey yes, but worth every cent. Our wedding cake and cupcakes were a huge hit! I highly recommend the poured chocolate and red velvet!

Don’t know what kind of cake most of these reviwers are used to, but I make a tastier, moister cake from a box mix. It was completely bland and extremely dry. Perhaps they ran out of cake flour and used sawdust. The frosting tasted nice, but was very disappointed that the purple frosting flowers I ordered were not colored frosting but sprayed purple. Very childish and unprofessional. Have NEVER seen a proper bakery spray color on cakes. Thought that was a cheap shortcut reserved for Costco, etc. I SO MISS Blackforest Cakes. Can’t believe I wasted all that travel time and money. Lesson learned. Also damn sorry I fell for these bogus reviews… should have been warned by the honest comments.

I own a local business in the area and we always use Christine’s for everything! The staff is always super helpful and I’ve never ever been disappointed in anything I’ve tried!

The owner of this bakery does not know how to treat her customers. How this place remains in business with the horrible reputation the owner has is beyond me. I wanted to speak with her about a custom cake I wanted to order and she would not even come to the phone to speak with me! Aren’t bakeries in the business of creating custom cakes for their customers? I guess Christine has a different business model. I for one choose to patronize businesses who treat their customers with kindness and respect. Christine, you can keep your cakes and pastries and eat them yourself.

Christine’s is a quintessential bakery with simply amazing cakes. I would love to say I bought a cake for a wedding from them but I haven’t. What I have done is bought cake for every other conceivable occasion. What I love about Christine’s is that whether its a wedding or some other occasion they treat you as if it is the only cake they have to make is the one you are ordering. Oh and if you need a cake last minute… no problem! Just walk in and make a selection from what they have in the case. Oh and I almost forgot the real reason to go to Christine’s is for the POURED CHOCOLATE CAKE! OMG, SOOOOO delicious and ALWAYS a hit! There are any reasons to visit Christine’s whether its cupcakes, cake or cookies you need, you won’t be sorry.

Christine’s made my wedding cake and people are still talking about it over a year later! Not only was it beautiful and exactly what I wanted (a purple ombré cake no less :)) it was delicious. They also give you a coupon for a free 6″ cake on your anniversary so no gross stale-​cake-​eating needed! I would recommend Christine’s to anyone getting married or needing a special event cake.

Cakes, brownies and cookies are all available to walk in and buy. You can also special order a cake.
They did a simple sheet cake for my wedding shower. Everyone wanted to know where it was from because it was so good.
My husband and I went in just for a quote on the wedding cake and got attitude from the owner when we were not prepared to sign a contract that day. We had made it clear we were shopping around. We didn’t get the wedding cake from them. The price was high and the owner was bratty.
I still go in from time to time for a brownie or cookie.

I was having a bakery craving and they are open late enough that I can stop by after work without rushing. I walked in about 15 minutes before closing time and received a very cool reception. One lady was standing near the corner reviewing some paperwork, but I did receive a «Hello». Finally the other lady behind the counter decided she would consider helping me, even though she looked at me as if I didn’t belong in her store. The customer service was not a great first impression.
Their bakery products are very delicious though. I order 3 cookies (white chocolate cranberry, m&m, and double chocolate), 2 mini fruit tarts, 1 cannoli, 1 brownie with pecans and an éclair. Everything tasted very fresh and met my bakery craving to a T.
When I was checking out, the nut sign that I believe others have referred to caught my eye. It seemed almost rude that they talked about how nuts they were. If someone were allergic to nuts, it doesn’t seem that odd to me for them to ask if a nut-​free product could be made.

Best red velvet cupcake ever!!! My sister discovered this place and I am glad she did :)

My sisters are cupcake fiends and they’re constantly on the search for the best cupcake in this area. They seem to have settled on Christine’s Cakes & Pastries. Sadly, I am not a cupcake fan. However, when I look at their showcase o’desserts, it kinda makes me wanna try one. Instead, I’ve opted to put on my winter weight by indulging in multiple chocolate eclairs. Delicious.
Their service is fast and friendly and they’re even so kind as to not make fun of me when they see me in there everyday for a week. That’s a winning combination if you ask me.

10 years ago I would have given this bakery a rave review and if you are lucky enough to get their fresh baked cakes you will not be disappointed. However, the last few times I have pre-​ordered cakes from this bakery they were not impressive. The cakes did not taste freshly baked and the decorating was not impressive at all! The last cake we ordered, I had asked for wedding lace design. What I received was their tacky squiggle design that looked as tough a child held frosting above the cake and let it just drop on. For the prices they charge I would hope for a skilled decorator to handle my cake. Not sure if they are cutting costs by hiring inferior decorators and selling pre-​made (possibly frozen) cakes, but for our favorite bakery to take such a dive on quality? We were to say the least a bit disappointed…

I’ve read some really good things about Christine’s, and man were they true.
I had a raspberry scone and a turtle? brownie.
The scone was esquisite. I’ve only had scones of this degree from inside the home. You could tell it was made with fresh berries, see the orange rind and cinnamon specks, & I loved the chunks (not cheap chips) of white chocolate. It wasnt the least bit dry or chewy. I could see one of these at a high end tea party.
I am not normally a fan of cakey brownies, but this one was out of this world. I had a corner piece, and it wasnt at all hard (you know how edges can get). It had the right amount of nuts, a nice layer of caramel, surprisingly different and creamy fudge frosting, and to my surprise a dusting of cocoa powder over the top. The cocoa powder is what set these over the edge for me.
Although i did not sample any cake, I would deffinetly recommend this bakery.
Also, they had the CUTEST little cupcake. trinket things. I’m not sure what to call them. It’s not food though.

Christine’s has the BEST whipped frosting in the Detroit area, no doubt!
My entire family loves this place. I don’t even have much of a sweet tooth but I love their cupcakes, they are topped with the light, creamy whipped frosting and covered with chocolate and sprinkles, SO GOOD! If my Mom ever stops into this place without picking me up a cupcake she’s basically snubbed for the rest of the day. She is even getting her wedding cake from here and I am super excited to see how it tastes. I’ll be sure to post an update but I am sure it will be amazing.
If you’re a sweets lover and in the metro Detroit area, this is one place you CANNOT miss.

My mom started buying birthday and other special occasion cakes from Christine’s years ago– and never looked back. Their cakes are quite delightful and moist, and I personally enjoy their icing as well. In sheet cake land, the cherry nut is fabulous. My husband actually does not enjoy their icing — he is not really a cake guy — but even he can’t deny the deliciousness of their poured chocolate.
My personal favorite is the Mozart torte– that is the go-​to cake for me. It is layers of yellow and chocolate cake with white chocolate and chocolate mousse. It is both delicious and pretty– with a cake, presentation DOES matter. :)
We ordered our wedding cake from Christine’s as well — I was not much of a bridezilla, so I didn’t have a ridiculous monstrosity of a cake design in mind. Christine was very helpful in helping to create something that went with our fall-​themed wedding and was within our budget as well. She didn’t even make fun of the bride and groom Pez toppers we bought for our cake. For weddings Christine’s does something pretty cool — while it may be tradition to save the top layer of the cake to enjoy on your anniversary, many a thing can happen to make that a disaster. You lose power, it gets frost-​bitten, the hall accidentally serves it to the guests… have no fear!, Christine’s gave us a gift certificate to come back for our one-​year anniversary and get a free cake. Great idea. Great cake.

I love Christine, she brought my wedding cake dreams to life! She designed a 3 tiered cupcake cake, please don’t be confused with the cupcake stands… this was 3 giant tieried cakes that looked like cupcakes… I got some many complainments on how cute it looked. The cake itself was out of this world… I’m talking about yummy cakey goodness. This shop is unbeatable and one MUST go here for great cakes and pastries.
