Sleep Inn Champaign Urbana – University Area

Rooms were pretty small and the two beds were full-​sized beds. It wasn’t very clean and not a lot of closet space to hang clothes. Our room was pretty warm and couldn’t get the A/​C to work. We had to call the hotel staff to figure it out for us. When we first got there the desk employee was pretty snippy and was in a crabby mood. However there was another employee that was very friendly. I was getting some tea and the employee said, «you don’t want that water it’s cold, let me get you some hot water.» They do offer a continental breakfast which had the usual items, bagels, cereal, waffle maker. The disappointing part was the only fruit they had was apples. I slept great, but probably wouldn’t go here again.

AVOID THIS PLACE. If I could give them zero stars I absolutely would. First off, we booked this hotel over a month ago. It was a great price! They asked for my information and knew I was 19 years old. Not a problem! Right? No. We drove 2 hours to U of I and get there around 7. We walk to check in and they have the balls to tell us that we have to be 21 years old!!! What?! I get its unofficial weekend but maybe let us know beforehand! So we tell them ok well one of our friends is and the guy goes «sorry everyone has to be 21» which literally makes no sense. We asked him to let us speak to the manager and he was no where around and we couldn’t speak to him. What the hell, right? So we ask him to refund our money and he has to get manager approval… but he isn’t there. Absolutely horrible customer service. The desk service guy was old and had an accent and was super super weird. I had about enough and dealt with the money thing through my bank.
SUPER HAPPY we didn’t stay there though because our friends who were 21+ stayed there and after two nights had so many bed bug bites. Don’t ever, ever book here if you care about your health and mind because it’s ridiculous. Hope this helps! :)

The price and location might lead you to think this would be a good choice. The friendly staff, nice lobby and breakfast were also part of a good choice. Don’t make the mistake I did and stay here. The room, hall and linens were dirty and smelled bad. Visible stains on bedding and grim all through bathroom. Dim lighting In the back parking were inadequate for safe night parking. You can do better in the Urbana area for this price.

I don’t know about the rooms but the staff definitely was extremely rude. I had booked a room for 3 days for the graduation weekend and wanted to cancel it as I found another accommodation for my friends. I understand the cancellation policy states we can cancel it 14 days prior to the check-​in but I had booked the room itself 4 days before the check in. Since I was charged I had called the hotel to see if they could do something about it, instead of helping me, the staff and the manager at that time was extremely rude and started yelling at me asking me why I had booked the room in the first place when I wanted to cancel it anyway. I did not expect to get the money refunded but I certainly did not expect such rude remarks. After a point, the manager started raising his voice and did not let me speak. I certainly hope the staff would show a little respect to people who are just asking them queries and want to know more about the hotel’s policies.

Drove in with our 9 year old to attend Junior College Division II, national basketball championship games in Danville Ill. Picked this hotel because of the reputation of Sleep Inn’s that I’ve witnessed in my business travels. This hotel is NOT one of them. Mold in the shower along the grab handles, mold all along the shower stall door, sink that was plugged by slim when I lifted the drain plug so see why sink water would not drain. And mold growing in the pool, would you let your kid swim in a pool that the pool water is so neglected that mold can grow in it? Breakfast the next day was totally empty, all the tables had crumbs all over and no one around to clean up or refill. Other guest were talking too how they were disappointing with that, so we went out and ate. We had planned to stay for two nights but checked out the next morning because of the conditions. Then when we got home I read other reviews about the same things we experienced on the hotel’s review sight. Now I know not to trust my experiences, read the reviews first. I posted my complaint on the hotel sight but it was never posted, wonder why!?!

I didn’t intend to stop here but drove farther than expected. Safe area. No frills motel but very nice staff, clean room, perfectly adequate free breakfast. Great price and a nice welcome as a Choice Rewards member. I always stay at Choice hotels because of rewards program that truly rewards my loyalty. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Convenient to highway and restaurants. If they’d had a treadmill I’d have been over the top thrilled but for one night I managed.

We have stayed at this particular Sleep Inn for a couple years now, and will continue anytime we visit our daughter at U of I. The staff has always been very friendly & helpful, and it’s a wonderful option if you’re looking for an inexpensive hotel for a night or two. Nothing fancy… just a clean & comfortable room, nice breakfast, and easy access to the University & highway. I highly recommend this location for these reasons.

Bad experience and service. I made a reservation here that I needed to cancel. I cancelled it more than 5 months before I was supposed to stay and they charged my credit card saying I was a no show. I emailed the hotel 3 times and got no response at all. I called and talked to someone who said they have no record of me canceling. When I asked to talk to a manager the girl on the phone said the manager Cassie would call me back. Never got a call. I called their corporate office to try and resolve this but I think I will have to end up disputing the charge on my credit card. What a pain!

Great value, friendly staff. Arrived here in the middle of a New Year’s Day snowstorm, unable to continue on to Chicago. Was greeted by very helpful female clerk who printed out a list of restaurants that would deliver that night. Breakfast included warm items and was well stocked. Room was clean and comfortable.

Comfortable beds, working tv, breakfast with waffles… Convenient… What more could you ask for? Note that the bathroom was tiny with one of those sliding doors, and the cabinet/​desk the tv was on was scratched to death– the child commented. would definitely need to ask for a handicap room if you needed access to a larger bathroom. just FYI. but clean sheets, more than enough towels, the blow dryer worked… it was fine for an overnight.

It’s passable. Just don’t try calling the front desk. Service here is good when you can find the people or they’re not on the phone. On the cell phone, with their friend, that is. –1.
The rooms were pretty small, but they got the job done. They were in the middle of remodeling, and I think we still had an unremodeled room. I say this because the beds were noticeably softer in another room that we had than the one I stayed in. –1
There was a sick stain on one of the box springs, it looked like blood. –1.
Plenty of parking, close enough to campus, easy access from I-​74.

A very comfortable, simple place to crash for a night. You access the rooms from the building interior, so it’s more secure. The mattresses and pillows are fairly hard, so they seem pretty up to date. Not right near campus, but you can get there in about 15 minutes. Best bang for the buck.
