Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration – Largo

I will never ever go to Largo dmv ever again. I ask the lady behind the desk, how long before they call the letter C? because they arent. When I walked in at dmv at 11:48 the number was C29. Now, the are calling numbers C16 and C15 I don’t understand, should the numbers go up. Then the lady said they have a lot of C’s. My question is, if there are a lot of C’s then why are they only calling D19 and up. Oh, the lady who works at dmv with the big hair says oh, this is lunch time and they will be calling the C’s every hour and 15 minutes. I don’t understand people need jobs and people need to get to there jobs and appointments. No one wants to spend 2 days at dmv. If anyone comes to Largo dmv please bring your food, tv, school work, computer, phone, sleeping bag because this is called kidnapping. Thank you Waldorf Maryland and Glen Burnie, Md dmv… they are the best.

I came to renew my drivers license at Largo mva, but the entire system state wide is down. The lady at the counter tried to explain the situation and why she wasn’t giving out ticket number. I asked to speak with Troy Williams branch manager who explained the situation in details. One suggestion I made to him is to have a manual way of issuing ticket to customers willing to wait at Largo branch. To my surprise mva does no have any manual process of issuing tickets or numbers. Once the system comes back up… customers can use the manual issued ticket or number to be redeemed for a new functioning system ticket without getting back in line…

I suppose they try, in little immeasurable ways that no one can see or feel, to make the experience at the MVA less hellacious. I’ve heard, for example, that many of the routine services can now be done online. Although that doesn’t seem to apply to any of the reasons I’ve needed to go to the MVA. But at the end of the day, I have accepted that it is just going to be hellacious. And so if we cancel out and account for the general hellaciousness of going to any MVA (you know, kind of like grading on a curve), then I would say this one is just fine.
There are some things done well. And some things aren’t done so well. For one, I like the check-​in process. There are 2 desks – one on each end of the center. The ladies at each counter were quick and friendly. Seeing them in good spirits cheered me up a bit too. So that was very nice! However, the hell would start soon afterward. The MVA has a new system that calls all tickets by the order that they came in. Which means that although you may have A-​26 and they just called A-​25 it could be another hour before they call A-​26 because there is also B-​60 and J-​17. This stressed me out quite a bit. They went about an hour and a ½ without calling anyone with my letter at all! This worried me tremendously since I gave myself about 2 ½ hours to get in and out of here because I had to get to another appointment later that day. So even as they crept closer and closer to my number, I couldn’t get a good estimate of my wait at ALL because I didn’t know if other letters would come before me. I suspect that it feels a lot like knowing you’re going to get assassinated today but not knowing precisely WHEN it’s coming. It’d be nice if they implemented some type of estimated wait time system to ease the stress of waiting for your turn.
In the end, they got to me before I needed to leave. And once again, the person handling my ticket was very pleasant. So all in all, in and out somewhere between 2 ½ and 3 hours from beginning to end. Not too shabby MVA, not too shabby.

This place isn’t the Seventh Circle of Hell like some people on here portray it. I arrived at around 9:30 on a Wednesday morning to exchange my DC driver’s license for a Maryland one. I had conducted my research beforehand, so I knew exactly what documents to bring. I spent a total of 2 hours there. Unfortunately I did not get the name of the young lady who helped me, but she was very polite and thorough; the entire process took about 15 minutes.
Could the wait have been shorter? Yes. Could it have been worse? Absolutely. I saw quite a few people be turned away because they did not have all the documents required for their transaction. Do your research, people!

If you have any questions or concerns please ask for Troy, the Branch Manager. He was excellent after I got into it with his rude staff.

Horrible — avoid this location if possible, go to small M a express OR anywhere other then this location. Wow, I have been here 4 times in the last 12 months. Every time I am faced with disgruntled employees and over a 2 hrs wait.

Two stars shine brightly at this location, Lisa Adams and Mgr. Troy Williams. They both deliver exemplary customer service, professionalism and a friendly attitude, which is rarely found at other locations. These employees not only seem to be good people but embody the definition of public service.

This location as compared to others in the county is always packed. The lack of policing of the loitering makes the ingress and egress a bit more challenging and its already a pretty stressful process for many.
I do my best not to have to come to this location.
Today, I gave it a chance. The lines were wrapped like a great ride at 6 Flags. But there’s no fast pass and little thrill and excitement during the rode. Go like this: Get in line to Just wait, then wait again then, oh you should have gotten this number, wait over there, great my numbers called… it’s dinner time.
Pretty much my experience at this location.
Avoid! You’ve been warned.

I took my daughter on a Saturday to get her learner’s permit. The staff was very friendly. We had to wait in three lines. We were there for about 2.5 hours and my daughter left with her driver’s permit. Heaven help us all. lol
We got there early so the wait time in the lines were not that bad. The longest time that we had to wait was for her to get into the testing room.
It pays to be early sometimes.

I went on ²⁄₂₄ to register my car and get a MD drivers license. I went prepared to wait. Waited in line to get a number for 1 hour and then waited another 2 hours to do 5 minutes of necessary paper work and had my registration completed. Went to do my drivers license and after inquiring the wait times decided to come back another day. So today ²⁄₂₇ I went for my DL again prepared to wait. The line to get my ticket was only 20 minutes my ticket G65 said 11:03. Starting at 1:30 no G# tickets were being called so at 2:35 I went to inquire why from a supervisor and he said yes I noticed that will check into and let you know. He never came back to me with an answer, so I checked again with the ticket counter and he said they haven’t called any G for awhile so it will be another 2 to 3 hr. wait. I could not wait for 7 hrs. to get a license so left to try again another day. Just checked online before writing this review and the wait is still at 89 minutes. I know it is the end of the month but this is unacceptable. I have lived in multiple states and never have I experience anything like this. Yes, I know it is the end of the month and I was prepared to have to wait but 7 HOURS. They have multiple windows but seem to not have many of them attended and yet multiple people walking around conversing and appearing to be just socializing in many cases, including the supervisor. This review should have been a 1 star but because the gentlemen that helped me on Monday was very nice so gave a 2 star for that reason. Though I know nothing will change something should be done about this so it doesn’t continue to happen. Maybe some In Service Training or better ticketing.

Absolutely Horrible. I needed to renew my registration and stickers. I went after work last Thursday — stood in a huge line (because the kiosk only does two year renewals not one), got my number — A139– sat down– they had just called A79. I couldn’t take it. I got up and left.
Came back the following day, again after work. Got in line –number A205. They had just called A112. Sat and waited, waited and sat. They finally called my number, by the time I walked to the desk, they called another number! I told the guy that I was A205– he stated, «Where were you?» I told him, I was in the back by the front door-​it took me a moment to walk to the desk.
He took my information and gave me the price. I handed him my husband’s debit card. He told me– unless my husband was there he couldn’t take it. I told him, my husband is co-​owner of the vehicle and was listed on the insurance. He wouldn’t take it.
Since the MVA does not have an ATM machine (rolling of eyes), I wasted 3 whole hours!
I really don’t know what is worse — The Emergency Room, the Dentist, or the MVA!

Pathetic!!! It has become painfully clear that our tax dollars are being squandered at every turn. Somewhere I read that this was supposed to be a society of, for, and, by the PEOPLE. What happened to that notion? It has become BIG BROTHERISM. Back to the issue at hand, I went on the MVA site to renew my tax and awaited to receive the new sticker and registration in the mail. When weeks passed and I didn’t receive the documents. I called as was told that my old address was still on file and the documents were sent there. WOW, how did that happen when I haven’t lived there for 6 years and I changed my address with MVA. Nevertheless, I was forced to forge by way up to the local mva office where i was met with the most rude and obnoxious person that you will ever meet. Question, why are these types of folks always given front line customer service jobs. So, I waited 2 hours just to get the registration and sticker that i had purchased on line weeks before. That is YOUR government at work. Working to make your life more difficult not easier.

Never know how its gonna be, but mostly crowded and ghetto.

This location was a lot better then the Beltsville location. I was in and out in a half hour. Each employee I encountered during this visit was actually very polite and professional. And if wasn’t too busy (maybe because I went on a Wednesday). But I would definitely recommend this location over Beltsville anytime.

Don’t even come here unless you have most of the day to sit and a lot of PATIENCE to wait for your number to be called! But isn’t that how it is at all Motor Vehicles?
HOWEVER, if you are LUCKY enough to get the customer service representative named Ms. Jamese Baxter, SHE is VERY sweet and actually cares about the customers. She is truly a five-​star employee — and one of a kind here! Thank you Ms. Baxter for taking care of things and for your smile! :-D

You know what I don’t want to do at the MVA? Waste even more time. So when I found myself standing in front of the main desk, waiting for two employees to stop talking and address me, I was a bit p.o.‘ed.
After one of the ladies finally addressed me, I described I was getting an M class license. She gives me a form and punches up a number. I had to explain to her that I wasn’t getting a learner’s permit a couple times before she finally gave me the right waiting number.
This place was well on its way to a one star review until I met the much nicer, much more helpful lady who took my picture and renewed my license. Got there at 9:30 and was out by 9:50. That put me in a better mood too.
Heading to the MVA is a necessary evil, and for all you Maryland refugees living in DC, this is a fairly convenient one.
