History

Established in 2006.

What began seven years ago with one branch in the San Gabriel Valley has expanded to four branches throughout the greater Los Angeles area, and continues to grow. All locations offer full courses in professional makeup artistry, hair design, character and special effects makeup. The overwhelming popularity and success of Ruby Makeup Academy’s unique curriculum has established the company as a rapidly expanding industry leader.

Ruby Polanco launched Ruby Makeup Academy in 2006 with the dream of helping her students reach their makeup artistry goals. She set out to provide a well-​rounded education that graduates could take and really use in the beauty industry. Starting with the first makeup academy in Temple City, Ruby Makeup Academy has expanded to four academy locations in Southern California.

Business Owner

Ms. Polanco holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and she’s been a makeup artist for over 11 years, working in Hollywood throughout that time. In 2006, Ruby launched Ruby Cosmetics and Ruby Makeup Academy. She is represented by an agent and publicist, using those connections to line up the best internships for Ruby Makeup Academy graduates, giving them to opportunity to experience all the aspects of Hollywood. Ruby grads are given the chance to work on TV shows, fashion shows, movie productions, magazines, and photo shoots. Ms. Polanco’s recent credits include covers for Wiz Khalifa, Shaquille O’Neille, Steve-​O, FHM, and Maxim.
