Kramer’s Masonry

We recently hired Kramer’s Masonry (specifically Felix) to transform our front and back yards. We had thousands of square feet of sad looking turf and with the help of Felix and his awesome crew we now have beautiful drought tolerant landscaping. Felix was our go-​to man. He was punctual, honest and hardworking from the very beginning which is something that is very hard to come by with contractors and landscapers. He worked with my budget and delivered everything that he promised. He and his crew installed everything from pavers, mulch, DG, gravel, concrete stepping stones, new drip irrigation system, plants and concrete steps. The landscaper he worked with, John, was very knowledgable and helped make our irrigation system more efficient. The company even provided proof of workman’s comp and general liability insurance when we asked for it. I would highly recommend Felix and his crew for all your landscaping and hardscaping needs. You will not be disappointed.

Although they are nice guys, I will reiterate that they did not supervise work well. They put in gravel too small and thin to keep weeds at bay, they took out great drip lines and put in sprinkler heads in the worst place to water yard, they put in drip lines in garden that immediately fell apart. Go some where else.

Stay away.
This company contracts masonry work in addition to being a retail masonry outlet. While they are nice people, they are very unreliable, their work quality is inconsistent, and they over promise and under deliver. I contracted them to renovate my front and rear landscape which included landscape removal, pool remodeling, and building walls, walks, driveway, patio and bbq island with cobblestone and flagstone. The work was supposed to take 30 days.
I got totally ripped off. First, they never supervised the work, often did not have the necessary materials on site, and left much of the decision making/​supervision to myself. The laborers were unreliable and most were unskilled. They often did not show up for days, and when they did, they lacked direction, tools, and materials to get the work done. Also, there was very little interaction with Kramer, meaning that we had to find out on our own what pool plaster, tile, slab, stone, and minor materials we wanted. No direction, no involvement, nothing from them. Our contract stated Pebble Tec for pool plaster, they insisted afterward that was too expensive and sent us out looking for a cheaper alternative. On, and on, and on.
Second, the work on my pool was terrible. Pool construction is based on standards, coping leads to tile which leads to plaster. My pool is terraced, meaning there are two steps in the walk surrounding the pool. It is standard that those steps are to be 6″ in height. Well, since the laborers did’nt know what they were doing and there was no supervision, that 6″ originally built into the pool became an unlevel variable height around the pool that looks terrible. As a result, and also because of poor workmanship, the pool tile was installed unlevel, off by as much as 2″. Then, the plaster contractor, knowing the coping and tile was not installed correctly, went ahead and plastered the pool, instead of letting me know of the problem. OMG, we were so upset once the pool was filled and the water level revealed all these problems. It cost me $ 5K to have another company come in and fix those problems.
This is just the start, cracks, crumbling grout, lose flagstone, contaminated fill dirt, etc. Finally, after 6 months, I am done with these guys. After initiating a claim with the bond insurer and filing a CSLB claim, I personally negotiated a settlement with them, preferring resolution over a drawn out ordeal. Mind you, they did nothing to resolve the problems on the job; never initiated any resolutions to problems, never followed-​up on commitments, and were always late .All they ever wanted was another check.
This company does not have the resources to fulfill a contract. Check the CSLB and you will see they do not have Workmans Comp Insurance stating they have no employees. If you read this and still contract with them, do not pay out more than the value of the work done, keep a 10% holdback, and stick to your guns. You have been warned.

VERY helpful! I’ve had a couple of odd jobs in my yards and the information they gave me was extremely helpful! Tomorrow they are coming again to fill in an in-​ground spa we removed. Glad I found them!

This stone company is great with service and flexibility. When I got started into a product and needed more of a particular stone, they were able to get more within a few days. Very nice folks. Highly recommended.
