Here is what you won’t hear from the apartment manager when you visit the apartment or sign up your lease: My bedroom is right next to my neighbor’s with no sound proof. (All units are that way unless you have 2-​bedroom, then only one) I could hear my neighbor snoring, talking, bed noises from moving, etc. Avoid this apartment at all cost if you want your privacy.

I just finished my 6^th month at foothill ridge on a 1 year lease. The 740 square foot (larger) 1 bedroom apartment is very large, and the balcony is a strong feature. Having Verizon Fios fiber Internet and TV is great (and reasonable). The pool area and other features are also nice, including the laundry room. As a single woman I feel safe here, especially on the second level.
In the apartment the vanity area is nice, plenty of room, and great light (once they fixed the one in the unit). The kitchen is okay, no dishwasher is not good (the model one I saw had one, but my unit does not). The living areas are a good size, and hold my furniture well (and plenty of space for my library also (which is extensive). The air is an issue, and barely cools the apartment, and does not reach the bedroom. I have two fans and a ceiling fan going all the time and it keeps the temp reasonable even when hot.
The apartment has a good pet policy (35 per month for a cat in my case) with an extra deposit. The rent is reasonable, and since I got in during the winter was at a lower point. I hope they don’t significantly raise my rent when I renew in 4 — 5 months.
I love my unit at foothill ridge, but the small things make it not a 5. That said it is an apartment, kids, parking, etc. Even with those I consider myself a long term tenant…

This is the most frustrating place to live. Since my husband and I moved in may 2014 we intended on renting the larger one bedroom apartment. Unfortunately they had none available at the time. Ever eager for us to hand over our money management coxed us into the smaller apparent with promises of being able to upgrade with no problem at all when the time came. So now a year later our lease was up and we wanted to move with in the apartment complex to a larger apartment. I went to the office looking to discuss our options, instead I was just told they don’t have any. The guy never tired to work with me at all didn’t tell me when the next one would be up so I can sign a shorter lease or anything the gentleman at the desk appeared extremely irritated by my questions and too bothered to help. I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t help someone who is trying to move with in the complex? Now I re signed for another year and I’m paying the price of almost a 2 bedroom apartment for the smallest apartment they offer. Will not be staying here because of how terrible management office is. DO NOT LIVE HERE

Terrible community didn’t have hot water for the first 4 months living here. Neighbors vacuum at 4 in the morning and pound all day long. The garage that I have to rent because they only give you one spot, smells like pot everyday because some kids who party in there garage next door every night. Also someone breaks the gate every week so there is no regulation to whose getting in or not. Security would be a good investment for the property. Reached out to management about issues and did not receive any feedback.

Dear Alma, it’s refreshing that you want to fix things (damage control), but it’s the policy that needs changing. My husband and myself voiced our concern to management on several occasions and nothing was done. Actually Jackie got very annoyed and catty when I expressed concern regarding you guys charging us for normal wear and tear to the apartment. We were literally charged to repaint the whole bathroom because the shower rod that you guys provided & installed started to chip some paint away where it connects to the wall. All shower rods do that to the bathroom wall. It was just sad that you guys took advantage of a young family like that. Normal wear and tear on a unit shouldn’t be taken out of security deposits. That’s wrong. There was actual damage that we did do & I didn’t mind paying for that, but the rest was just greed on the apartments behalf.

I lived here for 1.5 years.
I didn’t have issues with noise levels or roaches/​bugs or anything like that. I found the amenities to be nice: the pool is nice, the spa is big and always warm, the volleyball court is fun, the laundry rooms were fine, the gym was convenient.
There were small issues that I think you’d find anywhere: The treadmill in the gym was broken for a long time, some washers/​dryers would be out of order from time to time.
The park that is advertised is GREAT — huge soccer fields, access to a basketball court. Great place to go for a run or walk the dog. However, about 6 months ago, they started locking the gate that accesses the park. When I asked about it, I was told that they started locking it because people were coming in through that gate and vandalizing the complex. Huge bummer, because I loved going for runs there. In the last few months, I saw the gate open a few times here and there, though.
The apartment itself was nice. The patios are really big, which I liked, and the storage unit is a good size. I had an issue with leaking in my storage unit, which I didn’t discover until the first big rain. They fixed it after I notified them, but I wish I had known about it beforehand.
My apartment was a good size, but the kitchen was tiny. Granted, I was in the smallest apartment offered, but two people could not fit in there comfortably. The vanity area was fantastic. Lots of cabinet space, a huge linen closet, and a good sized bathroom.
The air conditioning/​heating is not centralized. This was a big issue for me — the AC came out of a little box located in the living room that cooled down the living room, barely. It did nothing at all to cool the bedroom, which, in the summer, was a sweltering heat box. Invest in a fan if you don’t like to be hot.
The staff that runs the grounds is very friendly — the maintenance man, the woman who cleans. The office staff seems friendly enough, but I had a few issues with being over-​charged on different occasions, and when I went in to talk about it, the person I spoke to had no idea why I was charged extra. It turned out to be a mistake on their end. Communication could be improved so this is eliminated.
Big issue with trash digging — a lady lives here who goes through the trash all the time. She also lets anyone into the complex (she lives right by the gate) which I found annoying, because it negated the purpose of moving into a gated complex in the first place. There are also trucks that drive in and go through the trash daily. So, be careful what you throw away.
The gate on the most west side was broken quite often.
I didn’t find parking to be too big of an issue. There’s street parking that I, or my guests, used very often. In the 1.5 years I lived here, I only couldn’t find parking maybe twice.
Lots of kids always playing around unsupervised, yelling and screaming. But hey, where are you going to move where there aren’t kids running and screaming?
You can only have Verizon internet here, as every apartment is only wired for Verizon.
Location of this complex is fantastic. Super convenient to be walking distance from walmart and a grocery store. Within a minute’s drive, you have any kind of food you want, and plenty of stores. Located right next to two freeway exits. Very convenient location.
After my first year, rent increased quite a bit. I stayed on for a 6-​month lease after that. When those 6 months were up, the rent actually went down. I moved because I was looking for a bigger place.

I haven’t had any problems the other reviewers have had. The interior of my apartment was recently redone and looks nice. The building’s exterior isn’t necessarily in the best shape, but the apartment is well-​insulated and spacious. One disappointment I had is that the outlets inside the apartment seem quite worn out, and the power cords can sometimes just fall out. However, the outlets are grounded. Everything else worked and I haven’t had any other issues. It is pretty quiet most of the time, at least in the back of the complex. The staff is friendly and helpful. I think an on-​site manager available for assistance after-​hours would be a good addition, though.
Update May 19, 2015:
So far, so good. The rent has been raised, but that’s just how it goes. I chose to stay because I like the place (and moving sucks!). The building exterior has been getting repaired and looks better. I also had some necessary repairs done inside my apartment and the repairman was friendly and came quickly.
Pretty much the only issue I have is with the security of this gated community, though. People keep breaking the mechanical gate, and keeping the pedestrian gate open with rocks. This makes it so anybody can come in and vandalize and make graffiti in the complex, and steal my clothing out of the laundry machines. How can this be fixed?

Perfect if you like loud obnoxious neighbors. They are all on disability, so they are ALWAYS here! This particular group of people has 2 – 3 apartments, so you aren’t safe even if you’re far away from building 2…

Horrible place to live. 40 – 60 people at the pool every afternoon until 9−10pm at night having parties. My upstairs neighbor has 5 people in a 1 bedroom apartment stomping on the roof all the time. It is illegal to have that many people in a 1 bedroom but the complex does nothing. They close the office 15min, 30min sometimes 1hr early on a regular basis and people getting home from work at that time can not charge there laundry cards or put in work orders.
