Came during lunch hour with a friend and her friend!(Yay for new people) Not bad of a spot to go for Mexican food. There’s a lady who is making tortillas right up front and we were talked to by three different people.(I think the guy was in training) Two of us ordered margaritas and the other a lemonade. For my first time I ordered tacos and tried their house hot sauce. Good kick and I think I’ll go back for sure.

Had to do my review over since it had some old information about Happy Hour Tacos Special that is no longer valid. Good fast authentic Mexican food. I enjoy going to this place. Clean establishment and this place even has a bar with like 5+ big flat screen tvs! Try to hit this place up if you are craving some Mexican food. Price is pretty fair and the portions are big. Servers are always nice and they’re usually consistent with the food prep. Although some dishes like the Chili Verde is way too salty.

My first time here and the food was amazing! We ordered take out and my husband went in to pick up, so I can’t vouch for the atmosphere or sports bar, but he said the customer service was great. Large portions, low prices, authentic and tasty! They even had a chicken nugget and fries option on the kids menu which was great for my picky eaters! Open on Sundays even! I will DEFINITELY be coming back for more! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5: we attempted to order the night before(on Valentine’s day) at 9pm(they close at 11) and were told they were out of rice and wouldn’t be making anymore for the night. How does a Mexican restaurant run out of rice?! Needless to say that ruined our order so we had to hold off until the following day to try this place. Ruined Valentine’s dinner plans but in the end the food was worth the wait! I highly recommend getting their tacos!

This was my favorite eatery, when is was actually a taqueria. The food was great and one could drop in for a quick, affordable and tasty meal. Ever since they added a bar, it has been down hill. The food has gotten to the point that is just meh. The service was poor, tonight and the food was not all that great and not warm, either. I’m done, with this Antojo!

Jorge was our sever and he is amazing anything we asked or needed he got & my hubby had man eye to eye contact which comes in handy when rolling with a group of 6. We had the steak fajita, Carda Asada burrito, cheese quesadilla & shrimp cocktail. new found love just like Arizona. There’s no other place to hang out & have some ice cold beer & enjoy the Seahawks game

For starters, free chips and salsa. Salsas are hot and flavorful. Chips are made in house from hand made tortillas. Their mole was wonderful, not too sweet. Chicken enchiladas were great, very moist and flavorful chicken. Service was friendly. From the outside it just looks like your run of the mill strip mall taco joint, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the quality.

So I love ELANTOJO in general. I always get the COCTELDECAMARON(shrimp cocktail) since my husband loves it. I’ve been to about 4 El Antojo locations + the taco truck. –Lakewood location, the 38th street tacoma location, the Lynnwood location and this one in Orchard. I’ve been to the food truck in West Seattle as well. I love how authentic this food is; yeah can be fastfoody but it is a clean and delicious taqueria. I must say, this specific location is probaby the BEST location of all of them for it is the cleanest and has the best décor. I was very surprised when I came in here. I will continue to go to El Antojo and I might start coming to this place since it is indeed close to my sister’s house who lives in University Place near Chamber’s Bay.

Got the 8 tacos w/2 drinks Special, California Burrito and beans and rice to go. Tacos, beans and rice had good flavor and not too salty. The California Burrito was a good size but bland. Green salsa was tasty with a little kick. The red salsa was just ok. Guy at the counter was helpful and friendly. Food came out quickly. Definitely want to try other items on the menu.

Hands down Taqueria El Antojo is my favorite Mexican Food Restaurant in Tacoma. Most places just put beans, rice and what ever the dish is SMOTHERED in melted cheese. Not here. There is real food, tastes great and not hidden by a blob of melted cheese. I always get the«Mexicanas» plate. Never fails to be delicious. After living in El Paso for so many years, coming here was difficult for my(Tex)Mexican taste buds. This place hits the spot.

Came here looking for some great tacos! The husband and I were looking on Unilocal for a few places to go to. Unfortunately not many people Unilocal to much here… Well, I’ll have to start Unilocaling more often. Place was pretty good looking, looks smaller outside then inside. They have flat screens, a bar area, restaurants dine in eating and also do TOGO… After seeing the menu we were pretty excited to have some good food! Problem was everything my husband asked for they ran out of it that day. Lol, like no Assad… No Tripas, after 2 times a waiter came back to let him down he started to get disgruntled. He did still give it another shot and ordered adobada. I ordered Pupusas. Pupusas were great! Aguas were great! Asada tacos my hubby said were pretty good. The Adobada was very DELISH! He loved them and I tried and it was a winner too! So you must try those! We would go back! Home made tortillas. A plus! I would say they need to make sure they keep up in orders for meat so they don’t have to turn down a customer not once but twice on something they wanted but you ran out of. ~~~** ALSO, restrooms need some work. They were not clean and a few things broken. That’s what I would say they need to work on. Restrooms can speak volumes at a restaurant as to what goes on in the kitchen to many… just food for thought.

Not particularly impressed by food. Sort of Americanized Mexican cuisine. Clean establishment and very polite service though.

Is this place under new ownership? We hadn’t been here in a while, and they’ve made some changes. The interior looks a little nicer, the menu’s changed up some, and they bring chips to your table, rather than you going and getting them at the salsa bar. The salsa bar is still there, but the chip warmer is gone. Too bad the service didn’t improve! We used to love this one bartender. She was blonde… Not sure of her name. We haven’t seen her in a while, so that’s unfortunate. The service we received last night was terrible. They were out of pacifico as well as tonic water. My appetizer came out after my entrée, and the bartender forgot my drink order. The service was slow and lackluster. They were completely dead, and yet anytime we needed anything(a box or the check, for example), we’d wait and try to flag someone down, and finally my boyfriend would just go up to the counter and ask. This happened about 3 times. The food is fine. Nothing amazing. It’s cheap and reasonably tasty. We liked coming here because it had a fun atmosphere and we could get dinner and drinks for under $ 30. Not sure if this will continue to be our neighborhood drink/taco spot. Bummer.

I’m from SoCal, and I know good mexican food. This place is probably as good as it gets for this area of the country. It would be 3 stars in california, but definitely 4 for tacoma. We only got the 1.99 margaritas. They are cheap, weak, but fairly delicious. Big drinks menu, hopefully the other drinks aren’t as weak. Would definitely come back and taste more.

As an L.A. girl, I’m picky about my Mexican joints. Just like you can’t eat everybody’s potato salad at BBQ Joints… every place that claims to have good Sonoran Mexican food isn’t worth your duckets. But this one is pretty good. The music is loud, the bathroom smells like fabuloso, and the digital menus remind you of times square… but the food and cheap liquor is the reason I go. The Caldo De Res was a little greasy(but awesome), but I know how to skim fat off the top so it wasn’t a big deal. the burritos are righteous & flavorful, but I go for the tacos and the appetizers. They have $ 3 drink specials every day, and Ervin(sp?) is the best bartender out of the three I’ve seen working there. The staff is friendly– my only reason for 4 stars is the damn salsa bowls. They’re too small so you have a 4 chip maximum before you have to get up and get more. Not world ending, but a little annoying. Overall, I suggest this place for drinks and tacos. You can get full & have a nice little buzz for under $ 17.
