Anytime Fitness

I have been a member of this gym for 4 months now and it’s awesome! The reason for joining was because I was looking for something close, nice equipment, and reasonably priced. So, before I joined, my husband and I looked around for a different gym and I didn’t really like what I saw. He is a member here at Anytime Fitness already, so we came here and I talked to Sohail (the owner) and Shaun, both really helpful, and explained to me why this gym was beneficial. We discussed all details and aspects of this gym.
Since it was already great that my husband goes here and loves it, I can say the same for myself! This gym is clean, not really big, but it’s a decent size to workout, equipment is great, its a nice environment, everyone keeps to themselves, really friendly staff, personal trainer, cardio classes, and 24 hours! It’s not bad at all, can’t beat it for what it’s worth!
I’m happy with my decision of being a member here and I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone!

This is the first review I’ve written, simply because this gym is way too underestimated and underrated on Unilocal.I’ve been a member for 4 months and am very glad I didn’t let what I read change my decision to join.
The facility is very clean, and their security cameras and policies in place make me feel very safe anytime I may use the gym, as it is ²⁴⁄₇. I even left my winter jacket there once by accident and it was right where I left it when I went the next day.
The owner, Sohail has been nothing but helpful since I signed up and my trainer Shaun is friendly and has helped me reach my fitness goals tremendously. There are other trainers there I don’t know by name but I’ve always been impressed with their professionalism.
Many of the issues stated below about the contract requirements are very important but should be taken up with corporate, not at the expense of this small gym’s reputation. I would recommend this gym to anyone regardless of shape, age, gender.

I can’t believe it took me so long to write this review. I was one of the original members of this gym when it first opened shortly after I moved to Cleveland in 2011.
Sohail, the owner, and Shaun, who mainly runs the gym as well as the fitness classes, are the best! To the people who have complaints about the contracts, or the lack of help from corporate: have you tried speaking with Sohail and/​or Shaun personally about these issues? I haven’t had a problem discussing the limits of the contracts or the possibility of pausing my payments if I’m traveling or suffer an injury where I’m unable to work out, OR what would happen if I moved elsewhere and didn’t want to be stuck with a long contact. I have raised all of these questions with them. My fiancé has successfully paused his contract. The answer is simply having a respectful conversation with Sohail and/​or Shaun. End rant! I had to respond to these negative reviews; at least in my experience, the ownership and management of this Anytime Fitness gym has been exceptional. If you have a problem with payments or your contact, talk to these guys directly rather than going through the reps that handle finance or general corporate.
Moving on – the gym is small but has everything I need. The cardio machines are well-​maintained most have a personal television. There are treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines, stair climbers, spin bikes, recumbent bikes, and more. The weight area is well stocked too, and another good thing about Anytime Fitness is that once a year the management takes a survey of members to find out what we’d like added. There is a small annual fee that gets pooled and used for new equipment. It’s worth it!
Another good part about being a member of this gym, if you choose to take advantage, is the group fitness classes. They are run by Shaun. Normally there is just a small group of 7 – 8 regulars every week, but the January joiners made the classes double this month. Still, not overcrowded, and you always get personal attention. There is a boot camp class on Mondays and a core-​focused class on Thursdays. They are both great, and FREE with your gym membership. It’s like getting free training sessions!
Speaking of training, Shaun does personal training as well. There is at least one other trainer too. You do get one free training session when you join.
And of course, one of the biggest perks of Anytime Fitness is that it is open 24/​7, even on holidays. I have been known to show up at odd hours. It’s always open. As far as security, there are always police driving through the parking lot at night, and I have noticed that there are security buttons you can push in the gym. It feels like a safe place, but it’s worth mentioning that these things are there!
I am moving out of Cleveland in a month, and one of the biggest things I will miss about being here is this gym! (I hope that Sohail and Shaun read this review sometime! I’ll miss you!) It’s small but probably has everything you need, is clean, and well run.
And, if you want to destroy all the work you just did, you can walk across the street to Melt right after your work out and eat a thousand calorie sandwich at Melt. Not that I’ve ever done that…

If there were a way to give negative stars, I would do so.
I have multiple, serious disabilities. Still, until I injured myself at Anytime Fitness, and assuming I was otherwise «healthy» (as that term applies to me), I am able to use gym facilities within reason and under the guidance of various doctors. But I DID injure myself and the owner knew it. He suspended my membership so that my body had a chance to heal. It hasn’t healed in almost an entire year.
When I got my bank statement in September, I was surprised to see not only a charge for monthly membership, but a «late fee» from the previous month. Mind you, as far as I knew, I was still on medical leave. I got charged again in October, but I’d had enough. I sent a letter to the owner via e-​mail stating my objections to the charges and stating I was canceling my membership for medical reasons. I also said that I looked forward to a refund without delay. No refund.
I’ve just gotten off the phone with the arm of Anytime Fitness that handles finances. I told them the same things I’ve written above. The representative said that, even though I am canceling my membership, I’d still owe yet ANOTHER MONTH while their 30-​day process takes place. I was also told I would not receive a refund for the two months I was billed when the owner knew I was injured and couldn’t use the facility along with the «late fee.»
Well, I’m done. I will be filing a small claims suit against this club and the parent club. The covenants in the contract are outrageous. Furthermore, the owner is well aware of my physical limitations and the injuries sustained at his club. There is dishonesty and chicanery in the practices of this club and the parent club.
DO NOT PATRONIZE THESE ENTITIES!

Very disappointed. One of the worst gym experiences I’ve ever had. As I was traveling I thought I would stop into this location for a quick workout. Clearly I thought wrong. After my key unlocked the door I was interrogated by the manager about what I was doing at that location. I replied with simply trying to work out that’s why I’m at your gym. He then proceeded to call my HomeClub and check my background history of anytime fitness. I went through a long interview just to gain access to a club I already had access to. I never thought someone could make a workout feel so awkward and uninviting. I do not recommend this gym and I will not be returning. Travel a few minutes more down the road and catch a different location

Convenient, simple, always open, well-​managed. The staff is great. I was a member here for two years, and this place had what I wanted. You may need to look elsewhere if you want the largest and fanciest facilities – otherwise you’ll be glad you signed up.

Worst customer service I have experienced. I have fulfilled my contract, even though I rarely went to the gym, and now have been trying to cancel my membership for two months and they won’t return calls or emails and keep charging my account. All they care about is money. I feel very taken advantage of by this gym. Save your money and choose another gym.

The contract you sign when creating an account at Anytime Fitness requires you to cancel your account by sending them an email 30 days prior to when you want it to cancel.
No exceptions.
Make sure you mark it on your calendar when you sign up or they may end up sending you letters in the mail that you have not paid, or worse sending your account to collections.
I am sick of these type of contracts and will no longer do business with any company that forces you to sign a membership that auto-​renews and provides difficult access for customers to cancel. These tactics are simply being used in cases where the business model of a company has significant flaws. They know that no one will use the gym in the summer… therefore, they do not allow you to only sign up for the 4 – 5 months you would really use the services. This should not fall on the customers. This is a similar thing that cable companies do. They make you pay for 300 channels when you only watch 4 or 5. Many people are voicing their opinions and canceling their cable in favor of services like hulu and netflix. Do the same with your gym!

Member here for more than 1 year now. Really a great gym! Excellent hours, always impeccably clean, high tech cardio machines, incredibly friendly staff and manager. Other gym goers seem well vetted and are nice.
The gym itself could be significantly larger, and tries it best to split space between aerobics and free weights. As the member count has grown, the gym has become increasingly busy during peak hours, sometimes making it difficult to use equipment without waiting. Free weights selection is good, but at busy times the squat racks (2) and the smith machine aren’t enough. Monthly rates could be cheaper given size and minimal offered classes. Only 3 restrooms, no large style locker room.
Please don’t let the comments above dissuade you, truly an excellent, clean gym with amazing hours and great equipment!

This gym is extremely clean with nice equipment. I drove out here last Monday to catch a bargain $ 5 show at the Cedar Lee and I missed the show time! So I figured I would do plan B and work out real quick. I love being an Anytime Fitness member because the facilities are pretty consistent across the board. Always clean, always open and the stuff inside is usually pretty new. I hope in 20 years it doesn’t turn super creepy like all of the old and aged Bally’s!

24÷7÷365 … The dream hours for a gym! I own a salon and work absolutely nonsense hours, so I needed a gym that offered more than just the standard hours. I love that I can stroll in at 11pm or 5am!
The equipment is all new and shiny and EVERY single piece of cardio equipment has its own TV! Not with just standard cable either. Tonight I got really into some super trashy FX programming… really motivating stuff.
They offer classes and personal training for those that want it. It’s über clean and you are expected to wipe down your own equipment, which seems to always happen. I never worry about skanky equipment here.
If you are looking for a new gym, stop by and check this one out.

Went here once when checking out gyms in Cleveland. The facility is new and has nice new equipment. Not the top of the line, but it seems like the staff is committed to taking good care of it, so it should stay in good condition for some time. I was a bit perturbed that they did not let me use the 7 day pass they had advertised on the website, but a day pass was only $ 10. The sales pitch was not too heavy, and the monthly rates were also very reasonable. This is a gym worth checking out!
