FACILITY: Beautiful with lots of nice historic touches. Well maintained. Attended a two-day military meeting here recently. MEETINGAREA: Microphones continuously cut out for better part of the morning, necessitating multiple attempts to fix/switch mikes. Video projector was majorly jacked up, switching between normal color and an odd pink hue. Not acceptable. This would NOT happen at a commercial facility. FOOD: Morning of the first day, many of us pre-ordered the lunch: sandwich or salad. The dining area was freezing cold because the heater was broken. Food was quite good. It was fresh and tasty. A bit overpriced. Nobody got drink refills. Waitress was rushed, curt, and made little effort to please customers. When she came out with the bills and credit cards, she literally said, «Hard to pronounce name» with a snippety attitude. OVERALL: Disappointing. I would not come here unless required for business.

Here for a Father’s Day event and the club did a good job. My girls loved it and I had fun. I think I’ll bring the family for a brunch.

The new selections have definitely been an improvement. The quality has been improved too. So, now I am very happy with brunch here. My rating has changed from 2 to 4 stars. Even though they still need a real espresso machine. (this is my old original post from April 2013) Maybe I was spoiled with the Officers Club at Kaneohe Marine Corp Base, but I was disappointed with this brunch. The selection of food items was not as extensive as I expected. The quality of the food was not as I expected. The cleanliness of the food areas was not as I expected. When you have the guests serving themselves there need to be certain provisions to prevent potential contamination, which there were none. I know we will eat here again. My wife heard from another guest that the brunch used to have more selection and in order to lower the price they changed it. But, she also said that the plan was to go back to the higher price with a better food selection. We will have to try again after they make this change. I hope they will have staffing to serve the food rather than it being a self serve buffet. I hope they get a real capuchino machine rather than a push the button and some hot brown liquid comes out of the spout. I hope they get some shrimp that isn’t so over cooked(and frozen) that it’s like chewing on a piece of leather. I hope they get some fish that didn’t come from the preseasoned selections at HEB.

So I decided to try out their Sunday Champagne Brunch Buffet. It was $ 21.75 for non-members/active duty and $ 11.50 for children. There is a dress code, but basically its just nothing run down, collared shirts and clean sneakers. The party room is big and spacey.(no need to suck it in when your moving in between tables) It’s your basic set-up, made to order omelets, carving station, breakfast entrees, lunch entrees, waffles made to order, desserts, seafood and bottomless mimosas. Majority of the crowd was probably retired military and their family(50 and over) but it was all good. It was quiet and cozy. I was hoping for a crêpe station or chocolate fountain but oh well. I’d come here again. Maybe not every weekend but on a holiday like Easter or Mothers day.

This is where my husband and I had our reception. It was amazing. The food was good: We had chicken, salad, rolls, and coffee service. The bar was full service and the space was great, we had have the lower ballroom. The waiter service was impeccable and the communication between the staff and I prior to the event was exceptional. We had over 85 people and paid about $ 2000 for the whole event. It was an elegant but very affordable wedding venue. We had a hard time with dates, as they are very busy with other events as well — so our original date was pushed back because of their booking, but it all turned out great. I would recommend the Officer’s club for anyone who has access to the base and can reserve.
