Okay so I’m a college student and I live in the neighborhood. I came here to renew my inspection and I think it was Jack that told me my car had 2 problems with it and w. o fixing it, it wouldn’t pass the inspection. He told me that there was a leak in the right rear break line and something with the right rear drum. How the right back side made a clunking noise whenever I drove it.(I was aware of this noise already but I assumed it was my struts/​shocks that were on loose, b/​c my friends mechanic placed new ones about 4 months ago) So he said it would be $ 400 for both jobs. I was upset b/​c who wants to hear that. Especially since I have an old 1999 Toyota Corolla. I always try to keep it in nice shape. But I told him to fix the leaking break line which was $ 95 b/​c I didn’t have $ to pay for the rest. So I kept bugging my boyfriend to tell his mechanic to check my car out and turns out that he just had to tighten my shocks/struts…I gave it a spin and there was no noise! The people who own this place just want $ and don’t care how they do it. Now I am thinking if there really was a leak in the break line… I don’t recommend this place, I see that others gave a great review and idk how b/​c my experience was horrible. I was about to spend $ 300 on this place. Do not come here if you want an honest mechanic.

just wanted to say these guys do a great job. they have always provided honest service and pricing. its very comforting to have a mechanic you can trust. and you dont have to «know a guy’ to receive the same great service. just call up, they will fit you in right away.

I wanted to make sure I wrote an amazing review for Pete & Jacks, because they truly are amazing! It is so hard to find a mechanic you can trust, but I have definitely found one which I know I can rely on. I have been going to Jack for a couple of years now. He has worked on my Jetta since I was a (poor) law student nearby. Jack always explains everything that is wrong with the car and what needs to be done — he even shows me the broken parts and computer screen when he orders the parts. He always takes my car at the last minute. Recently my timing belt broke while driving in the city and my car was towed to a local shop where they told me my engine would definitely need to be re-​built. The estimate was so high, I considered selling my car! I ended up calling Jack for advice and he told me that there was a very slight chance my engine was not damaged but that we would first have to put on a new belt in order to test the engine. So I had it towed to him and I couldn’t believe it, my engine was perfectly fine! Only $ 300 later, I am happily driving my car again! This was just further proof that Pete & Jacks is the place to go when you need a trustworthy, honest, & awesome mechanic!
