My husband and I love coming here. We can get a simple quick meal in a nice quiet casual atmosphere. We usually get Greek salads or breakfast. They have really great specials too, we love the chicken Murphy. The specials come with a salad, soup, and bread rolls. It’s a great value for the price. They have great desserts too! Our favorites are the Carrot cake and the cupcakes.

Waitress was awful … Pulled hair thru my teeth and manager asked if I wanted a new plate(ofcourse not was trying to puke) then she said she got the bill … She just took my meal off not my side order or my mothers meal

I have visited the union plaza diner a few times. I really enjoyed it this last time. Everything was served really quickly and the young lady who helped us was polite and wrote down my order which is really big in my book. We had nachos a omelet pancakes and onion rings– hot onion rings! Awesome. I was surprised but I figured if it’s going to be this good then the place deserves a good review. Also the sign outside had a Seinfeld reference!, happy we came

I was here today for quick meal and i think this gonna be my last. This place is going down the hill! Service: no service at all, the server took our orders and after that we never seen her again, not even checking the table if everything is okay. Food: i had beef gyro, not good its like a crispy beef inside. This place is so different from before, broken seat at the bar and dirty floors.

I have been going to this place for many years and the food is enjoyable. The inside and outside is very old and dated. it is time for a remodel. One time I was there and a small leak turned into a flood and the ceiling exploded.

I work very close to this place & I’m not here that often. The food and the service are both decent. This place is always always packed though. Everything comes out very quick but sometimes not good. I recommend this diner if you are in the area but they could be better. They also have a small bakery and a bar. The only thing I don’t like is that their menu is super long. About 8 pages front and back. They have way too many options and when I finally figure out what I want I’m not even hungry anymore. It’s kind of annoying. But besides that it’s okay.

Passing through NJ and had to go out of our way to make a «must stop» at Union Plaza Diner. The best Diner on planet Earth. The three of us had very different delicious meals. One had the classic eggs and French toast and bacon with coffee. — perfect. Another had an egg salad sandwich with coleslaw, fries and a pickle. All perfect, but Cole slaw is notably the best on this side of the solar system. Finally, I had the very fancy Cape May Cobb salad — of course it was perfect. Then to top everything off we got dessert!!! Lemon coconut cake — to die for. Warmed cherry pie for the classic finale’. The manager was friendly and the wait staff attentive and anxious to please. It was all worth the drive.

Huge menu. Ton of choices. I work nearby and every Friday we go out to lunch together — this is one of my favorites. The lunch specials give you a ton of food. It can’t be beat. This is one of my favorites because of that. You can spend the same anywhere else and leave hungry. Also, the large menu helps when you have a group of people with varied tastes. We have vegetarian, gluten-free, picky-eater(as in never even ate an olive or a mushroom) — we’re all happy with this place. Also, their breakfast specials are great too! I’ve stopped a couple of times on my way in to meet friends in the area and we’ve never been disappointed. That being said, everyone is complaining about the service and the truth is it could be better. It’s not a big deal though, some are better than others, they aren’t awful, just not super-bubbly-37-pieces-of-flair waitresses. The food is fine, more than reasonable, and they’re quick. We have one guy in our group that stresses over being back in time and we make it with this place :)

I’ve been coming to this diner since I’m a kid, servers are always attentive and very friendly and the guy who cleans the table always brings us water before the server comes up to greet us. The food is amazing, they could make you anything even if it’s not on the menu and the lunch specials are phenomenal $ 7.95 for drink, soup, entrée and dessert. The place is always clean and the location is perfect. I’ll recommend this place anytime of the year. Great place for meetings, family reunions you name it. 10 out of 10.

I honestly am not huge on diners.(I know — what kind of weirdo am I?! I mean I grew up in NJ, what is wrong with me? Maybe the fact that I was born in NYC? I don’t know, weird.) But one day I was craving waffles like there was no tomorrow(I blame you, Leslie Knope!). So my boyfriend recommended this spot as it was close by. Thankfully, only a few minute wait. The table we had — the chairs were a bit old but whatever. They were on wheels, which was super interesting. I ordered the waffles with powdered sugar(didn’t come with the powdered sugar sadly) with sausage and then asked for a side of two sunny side eggs. The best part was definitely the food. Very good and exactly what I expected. The waffle was huge and delicious. The waitress was very nice. We had ordered coffee. However, she didn’t check in to give us refills at any point during the meal, which was disappointing as I need my caffeine refilled over and over. I think this would definitely be a diner I’d return to even if there were a few hiccups.

The lunch specials are decently priced. You get soup, drink, entrée and dessert for about $ 8. I ordered the tuna steak. It came with home made Potatoe chips. The chips were good the steak a little dry.

I have happy memories of UPD from when I was younger but lately the service has not been the same. The food is still good but the service is slow and unattentive. I’ve often had to ask other tables’ servers to help find my server and they usually helped me instead. Food — 4⁄5 Service — 2⁄5

The food ain’t bad, it’s good actually, but I’m giving only«one star» because the service is lousy. Nothing bad happened, but no one goes out of their way for you either. Between forced smiles and the«it’s just a job» attitude, it’s not a place for a good dining experience. Today was the first time I ate here in a few years for that very same reason. From the hostess to the waitress to the water guys, everyone seems to be unhappy there. And I’ve seen the same waitresses over again for years, but God forbid they smile back at you. It just seems like it’s a major effort for everyone to do their job. I feel bad for them, but hey, I didn’t tell them to go into the food service. The vibe is just too … eww … No more, that’s it. I gave them enough chances. I tipped well too. Not because I got good service, but because I’m a classy person. Enjoy your tip because the next person may not be so nice.

If you’re a diner lover this diner is the place for you. However if you get overwhelmed easily, like myself, just take a deep breath and mentally prepare yourself before you even look at the menu; I’m pretty sure it’s about 6 or 7 pages. Front and back. They serve literally EVERYTHING! But hey, I’m not complaining. Greek, Italian, fair food, breakfast, gourmet, appetizers, wraps, «skinny meals» if your watching your figure, desserts, even have a bar, My personal favorite — matzo ball soup, and much more. This diner literally has something for everyone. Keep in mind it gets PACKED! Especially Sunday Mornings because honestly, what’s better then Sunday morning diner food. They have a counter if your not in the mood to dine at a table. The waiters are very friendly and despite how crowded it gets, food comes out in a reasonable time. I literally only gave this diner 4 stars because of the overwhelming menu.

I got a salad. The chicken was tasty, fresh. The greens were good. This diner has a huge menu. You’ll get lost in it. Good burgers, gyros, all the diner standards. They even have cocktails from the placemat.

Meh is the best way to put it. Big menu with lots of selection. Friendly waitress. But… service was very very slow, the food took very long, and when it did finally come out it just didn’t taste particularly special or great. I’ve had better diners.

I was doing some shopping in the area and hadn’t had breakfast yet so decided to stop here instead of Ihop since I’m not a fan. The waited wasn’t horrible for a Sunday and after we were seated our waiter came by and took our order. The food was good but nothing to rave about. I guess if you are near and want to grab something to eat this place will do.

I’ve been to this diner 3 times now and have been satisfied all three times. Last night I got disco fries, buttermilk pancakes, and the spinach dip. It was good, not great. The creamy spinach dip came with this flatbread topped with cheese and tomatoes but to me it was a little tiny bit stale. They took forever giving us water and after we kept asking they gave us a jug haha. For diner food, it was good but I’ve definitely had better.

The sign says that they serve the best pancakes in NJ. They are good, but not enough to make that boast. The food isn’t terrible. The table service was atrocious. I don’t know the name of the girl who served me because she simply did not introduce herself. She was not personable or available. I left without having a refill on my coffee. A remodel would be nice. Maybe Willie Degal could do a Restaurant Stakeout here? This was once a GREAT diner, but they need a restart. There’s too much competition!
