O where do I begin with this stop and shop. First they are ALWAYSOUTOFPLASTICBAGS. THEYNEVERHAVEBAGS!!! I MEANBAGS! I’ve had to use paper bags so many times(and these aren’t like the whole foods good paper bags with handles). Next the selection SUCKS and things are frequently out of stock. They don’t rotate the food properly so there’s frequently food close to expiration out. I always have to check dates. Then the LAZY workers, they stand their doing NOTHING. They never help bag, they just stand their and joke around. The parking at this store is a disaster too, there isn’t enough and then there is this weird underground parking that no one wants to use so it’s chaos to get a spot above ground. this is a bad stop and shop.

As much as I like ShopRite in W. Orange, this Stop and Shop is a bit better in a few areas. First, friiiiiiied chicken. I’ve got to admit, though: It’s really salty, covered with a lot of batter, but crispy. Then again, $ 8 for a bag of eight(if you’re lucky) is pretty good. If you don’t feel like cooking on a certain day, get yourself a bag. Most of the time, the chicken is cooked perfectly, and at times, they are overcooked. Avoid buying the chicken when they’re not cooking anymore; the last two bags are usually missing two pieces. There’s a hot food section, but I’d rather not… The fresh meat section is a huge help for me because kalbi ribs are so hard to come by in New Jersey. ShopRite doesn’t carry any most times I need them, so I usually drive to Edison just to buy a couple of packs from Sam’s Club. However, it’s good to know that they’ve got some good fresh cuts of meat and bone marrow here. Just be weary of the meat that’s lighter in color – or turning brown. I hardly shop here for anything other than meat, but after going through the aisles, they do plenty of brand name groceries, including a lot of local brands that I’m not really familiar with. A lot of the fruits and vegetables are flown in from Central California(woop woop!); the fruits are sweet and the selection of vegetables is decent for a small neighborhood supermarket. One of the things I hate about ShopRite in W. Orange is that I end up standing in line for as long as 30 minutes just to wait for my turn to pay. This is mainly because the cashiers are too busy chatting a storm. Luckily, the staff here does a great job and move pretty quickly. There’s a huge parking garage behind the Stop and Shop in case the front is filled up.

i occasionally shop at this Stop and shop fo rthe obvious :) decided to write a review on this place. ITSABSOLUTELYAWESOME! the customer service is very good. I’d called ahead with hopes I wouldnt get a salty employee who I’d need to ask to locate a certain spice I know local store don’t normally carry. I understand the frustration of shuffling through spices in such a large store but the guy Scott was extremely friendly very knowledgable and found what I was looking for in under 30mins :) he even left it at the CS for me to pick up when I got there so I wouldn’t have to stand in a long line. I love this STOPANDSHOP.

I love to eat, therefore, I enjoy cooking and as a result actually enjoy the weekly grocery trip. The Stop & Shop is our mainstay supermarket. With two serviceable supermarkets in town, this is partially by default. The major market on my end of town has denigrated to the level of «absolute sewer;» albeit, with a great fish department and bakery. S&S has no real fish department, but is cleaner, better lit and has wider aisles. While both have an annoying habit of clogging their aisles with merchandise that their staff is too lazy to shelve, at least the aisles here can accommodate two shopping carts passing each other. We’ve found S&S produce and meats to be of a higher quality, although that really isn’t setting the bar particularly high. S&S is unpredictable about their brand availability, and items frequently disappear from their shelves– very annoying. Although private label items were once a hallmark of «the other» market, their quality has completely tanked while the S&S label can be very good(or not so much) on an item-by-item basis. Certain S&S label items, frozen creamed spinach for example, are much tastier and less expensive than the name brands. Both markets are very slow to open cashier lanes when lines get long, but S&S cashiers are less likely to be absorbed by silly chatter and do move faster. A definite shout-out to Bonnie, the S&S Customer Service Manager, as she’s great at resolving just about any problem.
