my favorite filipino food/corner store. growing up, their filipino snack selections were the best. one christmas, I went home to the philippines and fell in love with a drink called C2(it was really big thing when I was in the philippines). When I came home to NJ, I was so happy to see that Kabayan stocked up on C2 drinks. They always have something yummy in their hot foods section. Their pancit is tasty and their filipino spaghetti is one of my favorites. They also usually have good adobo, kare kare, diniguan, bicol express, or binagoongan. the people who work there are super friendly and for every party or get together we’d have at my house, we always had kabayan cater. we usually get the pancit and the lumpia for catering and everyone’s always enjoyed the food a lot.

I like this place enough. It’s small so there isn’t a lot of selection in their grocery aisles. I usually buy their frozen marinated bangus. The pandesal can be hit or miss. Usually if I really want pandesal I go to Philippine Bread House. I’ve ordered through their catering service for parties. It’s decent. I always get the lechon Cebu style. For my son’s birthday, I ordered lechon, chicken adobo, lumpia, pork menudo, and pancit. It was pretty good. The lumpia, as always was a hit and there were no leftovers. The chicken adobo was a bit disappointing because of their sloppy cuts of chicken– lots of little bones to deal with.
