Select Sleep Mattress

I purchased a cal-​king split gel memory foam mattress with adjustable bed a few months ago. The store owner was courteous and did timely delivery as promised. He even made a free delivery which I really liked considering the fact that I paid about $ 3500 for the set.
However, the positive experience turned around quickly as soon as the bed was delivered. During the installation I found out that the bed frame was higher than what I had assumed. I had to ask them to reduce the height of the bed frame. The owner made me pay extra ($ 70) for a set of smaller legs and I returned him the original ones. I expected him to take care of it especially for the price I paid and that I returned him the original set of legs. On top of it, since the new bed didn’t fit my bed frame, they had to drill a hole in my bed frame. They managed to make a sloppy looking hole to attach my bed frame to the bed. But the installation personal was careless in his work and the drill bit went into my wall. When I asked him about it, he said that the bit barely touched the wall. He didn’t show any signs of being apologetic and seemed rude. I fixed the wall with putty after he left.
Within a few days of using the mattress, I started waking up in the morning with aches and pains and figured it could be due to the mattress. I also noticed that the mattress started sagging in a few weeks. I started doubting the quality of the mattress. My previous mattress was a much cheaper memory foam mattress which was purchased 7 years ago but it had no sign of wear and tear. I’m still using it in a different room and still love it.
After finding it wasn’t the best quality, I wanted to return the whole set within a month. I was surprised to know that they do not accept returns on bed frames! The mattresses can be exchanged though. I went to the store to ask for an exchange and the store owner showed me the options. He was also not ready to give me a refund had I exchanged mine for a cheaper mattress. Eventually, I didn’t find anything I liked.
So I’m now stuck with a bad bed and $ 3500 less in my pocket. I later found a better set with all of the features in Costco for $ 1000 less than the price I paid. If you’re considering purchasing a bed or a mattress, I highly recommend not going to this store. You’ll end up paying much more for something that’s not up to the higher quality standards or service you’re expecting. I consider this as one of the worst purchases I ever made.

Okay, first, I promised Chong I’d write this review… last year. (Sorry!!) But, I remember their great service every night as I snuggle into my mattress (which I still love after a year). My pastor’s wife told me about this place when I mentioned that I was looking to get a new mattress. When I went into the store, I told Chong what I was looking for and he let me flip and flop on the mattresses over and over again (I am worse than Goldilocks) with absolute patience and freedom. (Thank you!) In the end, I purchased a delightful mattress and the scheduling of the delivery was smooth… and the delivery was smooth! Woo hoo :) Sheldon, the delivery man, was also very friendly and he took away my old mattress for me– which was super great since I didn’t know what I’d do with it. Overall, great place to get a mattress– I highly recommend Select Sleep! :)

Don and Chong are extremely knowledgeable in all things mattress. They helped me pick up a mattress that was just the perfect fit for my needs. I was unaware that it was even possible to have a custom mattress get made that is affordable, not to mention made right here in the tri-​city area.

After seeing 30+ 5 star reviews and after a personal recommendation for this business, we decided to order our daughter’s bed here. So glad we did! Top-​notch customer service from beginning to end and quick turnaround time in receiving our bed. We ordered it in person on a Sunday and it was delivered to our house that Wednesday. You just can’t go wrong here.

We felt at ease and never felt pressured to purchase a mattress, and yet making a decision to purchase a mattress that day was so easy because Don helped to customize a bed that was just right for us. I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while. Back in February we decided our 4 year old king mattress needed to get replaced. I was waking up with aches and finally realized it was our mattress. It was too soft and didn’t provide enough support.
We decided to stop by Select Sleep Mattress because we always drive by there and see their advertising. Don was great in showing us everything they had to offer. I had no idea they custom make their mattresses to your needs. He makes the mattresses in 2 pieces, a base and a topper, to provide more adjust-​ability and it makes it easier to transport if you need to have it adjusted. I thought I was going in to see brand name cookie cutter mattresses. You could tell Don really knew his stuff and just wanted to inform us instead of sell us. We had to think about it for a little while but Don offered us a great price including delivery and with his 6 month comfort guarantee we knew we could get the mattress adjusted in case after actually sleeping on it we decided it wasn’t right.
Well after sleeping on a marshmallow for so long we went a bit too aggressive on the firmness of the mattress and had to take in the topper to get adjust after only 5 days. The second topper was much better and we slept on it for a few months until I told my wife that maybe it was still a bit too firm and that maybe we would like it one notch down in firmness, if not we could always go back within the 6 months. She agreed and we had it adjusted again. Don was great about everything and had the mattress ready that same day and like Goldilocks said the third one was perfect. No more aches and sinking. We love our mattress.

Best place to get your home furnitures. Don would tell you exactly what would fit your liking –design and your budget. Customer service is A+++. Chong does a good job on any follow ups –deliveries you would require, They go out of their way to make sure the customer is all taken cared. We have told our friends about them.

Why We Went Here: We moved to our first place and decided it was time to graduate beyond the college mattress we had.
Pros
Price — How could we possibly get a queen sized mattress with box spring plus frame plus a drawer set with a mirror for less than just a queen sized mattress at any other chain store?! We went to Sleep Trains, Sleep Numbers, Searses, JC Penneys, and all other well-​known chains up and down the Peninsula (please note the plurals in each of those) and still didn’t get a price quote like Select Sleep gave us.
Choices — Can almost be slightly overwhelming, but we like customizing things to a point. So when we were told we could get a queen sized mattress split in half, with his side a little firmer and her side a little softer, with a low-​profile box spring split in half to make it easy to move, we were practically in love. And then we could customize the bed frame and drawers too? Awww yeah.
Patience — Don and Chong explained everything to us. Thoroughly. Twice. And let us walk away and come back once we’d thought about it. And they were still just as sweet and funny and knowledgeable in answering all our ridiculous questions.
Honesty — At one point, we inquired about mattresses made of bamboo fibers (something previously advertised). Don straight up told us he didn’t recommend it because it had less than a certain amount of bamboo actually in it and felt it dishonest to advertise it as such.
Customer Service! — This. Was. The icing on the cake. When Chong overheard we were sharing a twin-​sized guest mattress since we had thrown out our old mattress before moving, he lent us an extra foldable mattress and told us to keep it until ours got delivered. Above and beyond doesn’t even cover it.
Cons: We’re just regretting not coming here sooner.
Pro Tip: Don’t even bother with mattress chains. Just go here first.

My husband and I walked into this business after hearing good things from friends and seeing the reviews here on Unilocal.The staff was very friendly and helpful and you can completely customize your mattress an bed which I’ve never seen anywhere else. We left that day having bought a new king mattress and also purchased a beautiful bed frame. Unfortunately the bed frame took longer than expected to ship, but they helped us work through that. They delivered our mattress with a complementary bed frame we could use until our bed frame arrived. Once our bed frame arrived they came to our house at no additional charge and took away our old bed and set up the new bed frame. We are so happy with both the frame and mattress, very comfortable. It’s also nice knowing that if we later decide the mattress isn’t right for us that we can get it changed.

About a few months or so ago I felt the need for a new mattress in my life. I looked on Unilocal for potential places to go and I found Select Sleep, since it was local and had great reviews my sister and I went in for a look. To my pleasant surprise I picked the mattress of my dreams in literally 2 minutes! When I met Don and Chong I couldn’t believe how friendly and helpful they were. The price was so reasonable and their mattresses are made to order! The delivery was also quick and efficient. How much better can it get? To this day I love my bed and believe it or not I’m sitting on it as I type this review.

Writing this review after using their mattress for about 9 months now. Really good people, old style business men where a handshake is as good as a business deal.
Way way better than the other big chain stores near by.

My sister bought her mattress from Don and he’s super patient and funny.
Just purchased my bfs mattress here and even being on a budget, Chong was very patient and explained everything so thoroughly.
We literally laid around in the store for 2 hours.
Next time is going to be my bed in the near future when I can splurge a bit on the higher quality materials (organic materials)
They allow for customization of your mattress layer by layer and I think that’s what makes this place unique.

I never thought shopping for a mattress would be this comfortable.
I searched Apple maps for a mattress place and decided to try Select Sleep first because I had never heard them in an annoying radio ad. Little did I know, this isn’t an ordinary mattress reseller. They fabricate the mattress you order on site using materials you choose. They have lots of options, and you get to try them all out by mixing and matching them to discover which combination is perfect for you.
I liked Chong’s manner. Informative but never pushy, he was eager to help us mix and match when we wanted help and left us alone when we wanted to spend some time testing the mattresses.
We ended up choosing a topper that was latex with coils, and medium foam underneath. What’s great about this is you can customize each side of the mattress to suit your individual needs, but surprisingly my wife and I liked the same thing.
We did our due diligence and checked out the mattress reseller down the street, but nothing compared to our self-​chosen Select Sleep mattress. Clearly these guys know what they’re doing.

Upon stepping in, Chong came to my help immediately and asked what I was looking for. I told him I was looking for a full size memory foam bed and he showed me the one in the showroom by the counter. He got into detail about their services and how they customize their orders. He said he can add 1 – 3 inches of memory foam which is what people usually order. sometime 4 but no more than that. I was pretty intrigued with their services. but I knew I couldn’t afford it, so I had to interrupt him. I told him I’m looking for a full size in the 400 ranges. He did some calculations and did the best he could to try to find me something within my budget but sadly nothing came up. He said the best he could get me was in the 600s. I asked to see other options and he showed me some with coils but it didn’t feel as good. While he was doing his calculations, I was lying around the bed and omgahhh, it felt SOOOO good!
I’m so sad I couldn’t make a purchase from this store, as it’s out of my budget for a broke college student. But I know in the future (when I do have more money), I will come back! Their customization is what makes it unique! He also told me they just RECENTLY started selling gel memory beds too! ;)

The customer service is exceptional and the prices are very competitive (the combo I got was substantially cheaper). I highly recommend heading straight here after you check out a few beds elsewhere. Chong helped me and he was great. The bed is only a month old, so I’ll have to update this again in a few years!

Thank you fellow Unilocalers for helping me find this hidden gem! I went in wanting to buy a mattress and ended up buying that plus 2 other things. Chung (not sure on spelling) assisted us and he was super nice! Prices are awesome! AND my stuff will be delivered TOMORROW! (he waived the delivery fee!). I wish I would have known about this place a long time ago.
