Geety’s Tailoring & Alterations

Saw great relies on Unilocal and took my outfit for alteration. She was kind enough to take up the job and do it in two days. It was uncomplicated shortening of the ethnic long skirt. She clipped the margins and never actually measured it. Next day at pick up my outfit was ruined. It was way tighter on top and no room left. Cost of destroying the whole thing $ 68. Not sure if it was one time event with this place or happens regularly but she wasn’t remorseful at all. Had to buy new outfit!!!

On a whim I brought 3 of my semi-​formal dresses to be altered after putting it off for the longest time and I came away definitely not disappointed! The shop is very clean and Geety is very friendly. I brought them in on Saturday and they were done by Tuesday, even though I had originally requested for only one of the dresses to be finished before Thanksgiving. Geety did a great job with all of them, although I was most impressed by the second dress — I had the sides taken in and she was able to add cap sleeves for me by taking material from the skirt portion without compromising the overall appearance of the dress. The only downside was that it was a little expensive (good thing credit card is accepted), but I think the prices were fair considering the quality. I know a lot of people tend to balk at prices of alterations but I know personally how much care and skill it takes to alter a garment. If I were to do it myself it would’ve taken me hours and the results wouldn’t even be close.
Dress 1: Take in sides and sleeves, remove puff in sleeves ($ 48)
Dress 2: Take in sides ($ 38), Add sleeve ($ 24)
Dress 3: Take in sides, raise waistline by shortening from top ($ 58)

Getty to the rescue! We purchased a prom dress online and when it arrived it didn’t look anything like what had been pictured online. At the recommendation of a friend, I took it to Getty and she immediately knew what was wrong and how to fix it. She had less than one week she was able to alter the bodice, fix the hem and add the beading by hand. She definitely knows her craft, it looked great. Thank you Getty!

She’s quick, efficient, accurate … But most of all, so personable. She’s the sweetest seamstress I’ve ever met. And her prices– for what she does, I feel like I’m ripping her off.
I went to her to alter my bridal gown. She listened very attentively and executed perfectly, but she also gave great advise on what I should do in addition. Geety was amazing! I ordered a very cheap two piece crop top/​skirt set from Amazon. When it arrived, it was way too big and also very cheaply made. I brought it in to Geety and she pinned away and told me she would have it done a week before when I was planning to wear it in case it would need more alterations. She was very sweet and I trusted my clothes with her. I came in to pick it up on the day we had planned, and it fit great! As a very petite person, I will be bringing my too big clothes here to Geety more often.

I just lost 35 pounds and had to get my business suit tailored down in size. This is the very first time that I have had the pleasure of having Geety do my alterations. Geety makes you feel like a life long friend and is a very talented tailor. The suit fit perfectly and Geety’s Tailoring & Alterations will have all of my business from now on.

I’ve taken several items to Geety’s for both alternations and repairs. She is super sweet and friendly with customers, and does flawless work in a very timely manner. I don’t know how her prices compare to other places, so I can’t comment on that, but overall I would highly recommend her!

This is my go to place for any alterations/​tailoring. I have used Geety’s on multiple occasions:
Getting a ripped nylon jacket re-​sewed (she did a perfect job and only costed $ 6) :)
New police uniform was way to big and baggy and had to be shortened — $ 18 (this is what drops a star. I understand this was not the easiest task but $ 18 to my opinion was a little pricey).
Overall, Geety is super friendly and I was surprised she recognized me after 2 times. I will be back for anytime that I need any clothing alterations/​tailorings!

My go-​to spot for getting my clothes tailored. Geety is very helpful and welcoming. I just needed my pant legs to be shortened as well as arms on a jacket to be shortened. Prices were fair and clothes were done quickly. Will come back!

MORAL OF THIS LONG STORY: Don’t take your wedding dress here.
I have to say, Geety is extremely sweet, professional and so loveable. She always greets her customers with a smile and is extremely warm. This is why I feel a bit bad for not giving her more stars. I went to her for convenience and she did a great job with my pants. I found her on Unilocal,and needed my wedding dress altered and since someone else said she did a wonderful job on their dress, I took a leap of faith and took my wedding gown to Geety.
The thing about Geety is that she takes on more than she could handle. I’m pretty sure she has people in the back working for her, but I still think that is not enough for the volume of clientele base. She took a lot longer on my dress than I expected and I do admit that my dress was extremely intricate.
Every time she called to reschedule my pick up, I did not hold that against her as I knew that she was always busy. She rescheduled so much that I ended up picking my dress up just a few days before my wedding and I was so busy with other things that I didn’t take a final look.
I tried on the dress once before with my matron of honor and we couldn’t find the original hook to the back, so Getty helped us find it. On the last day I went to pick it up, I tried it on and all seemed well. I thought the hook was on there since it was on the dress on my last visit.
Well, on my wedding day, the hook and clasp were both gone! We searched high and low and could not find it. I was having a panic attack at this point and I began to get extremely nervous and jittery. Luckily, my bridesmaids were resourceful. They had a sewing kit and looped a string onto a button they sewed on. I just couldn’t believe that she had forgotten something so colossal! She dropped the ball big time on this one.
This quick fix worked temporarily, but my wedding dress kept sliding the whole night and throughout the night, people kept pulling it up for me. It was quite embarrassing, but I didn’t let that dampen my special day. On photos and videos, you could see part of my bra on the back because there was no clasp and hook to tighten the dress. What a shame…
I really liked Geety as a person, but for such am important detail to be missed for such an important day of my life, I just couldn’t believe it. I’m sad to say that I won’t be returning to Geety’s for my alterations any more. Her prices are a little steep anyways.

I have known Geety for years and even had custom sundresses made by her.
My mother was like a professional seamstress and when she had a difficult time sewing she always went to Geety to help her. My mother even said her work was like a professional and worth every cent!
Geety always does excellent work and is very fair in time and cost.
I trust no one else.

I took in my bridesmaid’s dress because it was too big. This was the best choice ever! The dress was ready in no time and fits perfectly. She even offered to fix parts of the dress to make it look better and I’m glad I did. The dress was absolutely perfect when I picked it up. It fit just right and it was only about $ 47 to let it in on the sides, and by the breast area.
I definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Love Love Love Geety. I got into civil war reenactments about a year ago and most woman make their dresses not the case when I can’t sew.
So I looked online for a seamstress. Unilocal reviews for Geety were awesome so I thought I would try her.
Well the results of her work were amazing.
She took a dress I bought too small and made it fit she has taken dresses I have bought way to big and made them fit. Geety is truly a amazing woman as well as a amazing seamstress. And I can not forget to mention her helpers are amazing as well… Civil War period dresses and clothing are hand sewn and when Geety does the appropriate fixes to my dresses she keeps it authentic… I have brought dress after dress to her accessories and my kids soldier uniforms and not once had a problem when picking up she does it perfect everytime… I’m truly blessed God has put Geety in my life without her I would of been lost…

My best friend was getting married and he had all his groomsmen buy a particular styled suit. Slim fit. I tried my best to drop as much weight as I could in a two month’s time frame. Yes, I’m a procrastinator! Due to work deadlines and very little time at the gym, I needed to get my suit altered as is!
I Unilocaled around and found Geety’s, which was very close to me. I arrived in a tiny plaza off of Mission Boulevard. The store empty and very clean. I was greeted by Geety, friendly and attentive. I explained to her that I needed my slim suit altered within a two week time frame. She directed me to the fitting room to put on my suit. After putting on my suit, Geety marked up my suit where it needed altering. She wanted to un-​slim my suit as much as possible. I left my suit with her and let her work her magic during those two weeks.
Two weeks came and went. My suit was ready and the moment of truth was here. I went back to the dressing room to put on the suit and BAM! What was once a slim suit actually fit on this husky guy! The workmanship was flawless! It felt like I just bought the suit straight from the suit shop! With only spending under $ 100, it sure beats buying another suit on short notice.
Geety provided the best service, value, and turn around time on my alteration! Thank you Geety!

Geety did such an amazing job with my high low dress! I lost a bit of weight so my silk dress didn’t fit correctly anymore. Geety was super sweet right when I walked in. Took her 5min to correct the length and bring it in a bit. It was done in a few days, and wasn’t very expensive for the amount of alterations needed. Will be coming back.

I have had two experiences at Geety’s now, and both have been great. The first was some jeans that I needed to get shortened. The jeans were flared, which added a little bit of difficulty, but they came out great. The second was a football jersey that my husband had purchased in a size too big for him. He needed to get the sleeves shortened and the shoulders taken in so it fit correctly. That also came out wonderfully. My husband was really pleased with the jersey. Geety is professional and her prices are fair. I think I have found my new go to seamstress, since my other one has since retired.

Amazing. I have gone to Geety on numerous occasion to fully tailor my suit. Every time that I come back to pick it up, the suit just fits perfect! You won’t go wrong doing business with her.

I just bought a suit on Amazon (my first time buying a suit online) and, as I had hoped, it came with sleeves that were much longer than necessary and trousers that needed to be hemmed. So, I was in need of a tailor.
I had recently taken a Robert Graham shirt to my dry cleaners for altering (losing 100 pounds can necessitate that) and knew that it was roughly a 1 – 2 week turnaround for any work to be done. This, however, was not something I could wait that long for, since I’m waiting to hear back about an employment application. So, I took to Unilocal,and Geety’s was the highest rated in my area. I gave her a call and inquired as to what timeframe I could expect from her, and her quote was exceptionally fast. And thus, my mind was made.
Upon arrival, I appreciated the décor of her shop. It was simple, but adorned with antique Singer sewing machines, like the one my grandmother had. Geety greeted me, asked what I needed, and led me to a changing room. As she was marking the jacket and trousers, she offered suggestions for the length, based on modern and classic styles. I then changed back into my other clothes and went to get my receipt. She confirmed the date that I could pickup my suit and thanked me for trusting her. I was in-​and-​out under 5 minutes.
When I came back to pick up my suit, it fit perfectly! Geety had even cut open the pockets for me.
After this great experience, I know I will be returning to her.

After losing hella poundage, I needed to seek a good tailor because I didn’t realize how expensive weight-​loss can be regarding clothing!
Geety is super pleasant and professional. I went in with quite a few items, and she gave her honest opinion on if they needed to be tailored or not. I trust her with items that are higher-​end as well as my typical chain store stuff that I don’t want to part with just because it’s now ill-​fitting.
Although my items were not ready on their original «ready-​date,» she called me in advance to let me know when they would actually be ready. I had no issues with that.
She seems to enjoy what she does and it shows in the quality of her work. I’ll be returning!

I saw this business open up near my home and bookmarked it in my head. As my daughter and I went prom dress shopping for the perfect «The Great Gatsby» themed prom, we found a dress that she liked but it didn’t quite match the accessories that she got to go with the dress and the dress was in need of actually fitting her body. So I pulled the bookmark out of my head and we went to Geety to see what she thought. I like to use the professionals ideas and see what they have to say. I was pleased with the suggestions she had to bring the colors of the accessories to the color of the dress. All in all she did a great job and I was very pleased. She had the dress done before the due date as well. Now I am having her custom make an Animé costume for my other daughter. I am excited that she opened her business close to my home!!!
