Great quality but they take forever to prepare your food. Had to wait 25 mins for my sandwich!

I haven’t had a positive experience at this place, and I have given it several chances. I believe the problems are with the management. There never seem to be enough staff working. The line is forever slow and the wait for anything from the kitchen is never reasonable. The food isn’t that good, certainly not good enough to wait for. If management would schedule adequate staffing, perhaps this place would be alright. As it stands, don’t waste your time.

Anderson always fresh, always delicious. Even after the tasty sandwiches on fresh baked bread and full. Can’t stay away from those scrumptious pastries! Staff always friendly and eager to assist. Gets busy, be there by 11:30am or be squarely sitting outside(even on cloudy days) LOL.

YOUCANORDERONLINE&PICKUP! :) I love Andersen’s sandwiches! They’re fresh, and simply but tasty. I love the fresh bread. I always get cold deli sandwiches, like the turkey avocado, but my family loves the grilled panini sandwiches. Their soups are really good too.

Do not get the pizza bread. I was expecting more dressing and cheese and what I have left is pieces of over burnt slices that’s left me unsatisfied.

I’ve been a loyal customer to Andersen Bakery since before they changed their name to Andersen Bakery. It used to be under a French name. Notable yummies to try are the pisano bread, pesto bread, cream cheese walnut bread, and creamy french. I actually have been only getting any of those 4 or all of them cause I’m a fatty whenever I come here. I usually get my breads to-go, but more recently, I’ve been coming here to study and I tend to get their tomato and raviolini soup. It comes with 2 – 3 slices of bread! It’s a nice place to eat lunch and they offer free wifi as well, so perfect for when you want to get work done and want to avoid crowded coffee shops. Service is usually pretty good, they’re fast and efficient with cutting the bread. Sometimes they offer to warm up my pisano bread, but not all the time. I can always just ask, I know. Maybe I’ll branch out and try some of their other breads and pastries. I know their loaves of bread are popular since I see a lot of customers purchasing them; however, pisano bread is probably a customer favorite since it’s always or almost always out when I come by!

Totally mind blown that I could eat such a delicious sandwich! Stopped by randomly since I was at Office Depot around 2pm and there was a decent amount of people, but the service was quick. I got a turkey, Swiss and avocado on sourdough. Probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Really it was!!! The bread was soft and tasted as if it was freshly baked. My mouth is watering now. The turkey on the sandwich was thick cut and juicy, and a generous portion of avocado. Can’t wait to come by and try the delicious pastries and desserts that were staring at me in the case!

I like this place as it appears to serve Peet’s coffee(at least that’s the name on the individual wrapped raw sugar packs) and the plain bagel with cream cheese I had was good and not burnt. You put your own cream cheese on it from the individual Philadelphia single serving you’re given. The line just gets super long around brunch/lunch time; so get there early to make sure you’re not waiting forever. Located in a plaza with some other good stores like Verizon and Cold Stone; so get your full retail on. Parking is a little tight but you should always be able to find a spot.

I rarely do updated reviews, so this one is worth it! Andersen Bakery is LITERALLY killin’ it with its renovated interior, awesome menu design, and new bakery items! My family enjoys dining here on a weekly basis — it is unreal how this Andersen has grown since its opening :’). Do the ½ soup and ½ sandwich(or really, anything else Andersen offers)!! Vegetarians and meat-eaters-who-want-to-eat-a-vegetarian-meal take note: I have recently discovered the combo of putting together my favorite soup: tomato basil ravioli and the tomato caprese avocado sandwich(on ciabatta). It is a tomato heaven and the sandwich is actually so legit. Pretty large portions will keep you full way past dinner time. Keep up the great work Andersen! It gets packed during the lunch hours nowadays, so I would come here if a tablet or good book. :) Free wifi, too(see older review)! The only complaint I have here is that it gets kind of loud with all the patrons who dine for lunch. I think this is a good place to catch up with a friend a grab lunch with a co-worker, but I am not convinced about a study session.

Another hidden jewel in Union City, this place is great for coffee(all you can drink), pastry, salad, sandwich, soup and catering! The manager(forgot her name) is great, friendly, cute, professional, hardworking(starts at 330 am) and customer centric attitude. If you lives around here and you don’t come here, you are not doing yourself a favor. That said, DON’t come at peak lunch time. I waited 25 minutes for my salad today, *&^%!! Enjoy!

Went here this evening for coffee and pastry with some friends. We were a group of 7, so they were kind enough to reserve the tables for us on the left as you walk in. I got a crème brûlée, and it was delicious! Not my photo, but this is what it is: I’d come back to just get that for dessert and coffee.

Good place to get some fresh bread and a sandwich. They have both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. They also have full array of pastries. Pricing and location make the place good for a family visit.

I just had the worst experience with this place I will never go back there here are the reason: I waited 30 minutes for my sandwich and when I went to asked them and they told they lost my order a few minutes later I got my sandwich to my surprise it did only had one single slice of turkey, when I told the store manger she told me in a rude way that is all we put in the sandwich I told her that is not true because I go to the Pleasanton location and they put a lot more than one single slice, she still insisted that I was wrong, the store manager has no customer service training as far as I can tell.

I went here to have dinner with my family a couple of weeks ago. I am on an elimination diet — no dairy or wheat — so obviously it wasn’t me who picked a bakery for dinner!(If I wasn’t on this diet I would be thrilled as I LOVE fresh baked goods) So I said screw it and had the roast beef on a soft french roll. Which was excellent. One star for good food. Why I think the place gets only 3 star is the lack of a baby changing station in the men’s bathroom. They have high chairs — one star for that. My husband went in to try and change our daughter’s diaper only to return and tell me there was no changing station in his bathroom. So then I checked the women’s and of course there was a changing station. So what this does is make it difficult for single dads or dads trying to share child raising duties just that much harder. Enough said.

Good healthy sandwiches. Choose whatever bread for your sandwich. Its better then Starbucks for sandwiches and desserts. It’s pricy. But worth the quality of the food. Good customer service.

My first full-blown«Andersen Bakery»(I’ve had the pared down mall version), and at this location I even sat next to a family of Germans. I would have never ordered Tomato Raviolini Soup on my own, but gosh darn the wife, I had it and I liked it a lot. I usually have a Chicken or Turkey Avocado sandwich on Ciabatta or French bread, I usually have a Café Latte, and I usually make room to munch on a cookie. I more than munch at «Andersen,» I wolf through it pretty fast. Good for late breakfast or light lunch. #sincerity

This was a 4 star place, but since the new remodel, their service is slower, the layout of the new counter causes too much traffic, food is more expensive, and they give you less. I guess this is what happens when you become more profit driven huh? The new layout causes too much traffic in the front doors. People are left roaming around looking at the desserts, pastries, menus and it causes confusion to who is actually in line. I do like the fact they actually have a sofa chair for people who have to-go orders now, although, it’s too close to the register, and again, it causes traffic. They made more room for the counter and honestly they have too much room. It takes them many more steps to grab the bread, dessert, drinks and to use the equipment. This results in slower service. I actually see employees during lunch hour prancing around frantically because they so much more distance to travel to do their job. Okay, on to the food! The bread is always fresh here and I love the sandwiches as well. My recommendations are: BLT: Very good BLT, in addition they put cucumbers, avocados, little bean sprouts, which freshens up the sandwich up a lot and gives it a nice crunch. Note in the sandwiches they put extra bread in the middle. So its TRIPLE the bread! They used to give you pickles as well, but I guess they don’t anymore(on to-go orders at least). Clam chowder: Creamy, good clam chowder. Its not too thick, a bit on the watery end, but still delicious. They used to give you FREE bread with a order of soup, but now they charge you 20 cents for two pieces of bread. Creamy French: Pastry, basically french bread with some sweet white creamy sauce in the middle… pause. One of the more popular items at Andersens. Its a must order if you are ordering pastries. International cheese: Cheese and bread, simple as that. The bread is so fresh and delicious. The cheese is oily, but man, its really good. I dont know what else they put in that cheese but it’s delicious. Tip, ask them to toast up the bread, the cheese will melt a little bit and makes the bread more crispy. Its much better when it’s toasted. Make sure they don’t microwave it though, some stores microwave it to heat it up resulting in rubbery bread. Jalapeño bread: Same thing above but with Jalapenos!!! This Andersen’s chain has the same delicious sandwiches, pastries and fresh bread, although, if you need a to-go order to grab it back to work during lunch time, plan on being late, because they take a while now to get our your food. Well, at least you won’t be disappointed when you eat your food though.

Andersen’s Bakery~ As a Chain, I’m usually satisfied here with certain expectations. However, this location seems to disappoint me rather consistently. Their sandwiches are pretty average priced for the East Bay, and of average taste. But again, this location falls short compared to other locations for a few consistencies. 1. Their Eggplant Mozarella rarely has any filling for me most of the time. 2. Their Ciabatta when toasted will cut the roof of your mouth more than Captain Crunch. 3. The pastry section display to the left of the register often has some fruit flies floating about. Totally gross. I’m glad they remodeled awhile back, and it looks nicer, but the sandwiches here are very subpar. Even compared to other Andersens. I won’t be going back.
