Tysons Corner Center

Tyson’s Corner Center is the premier mall in the metro DC area and it is the most accessible by car or by metro with the latter thanks to newly built Silver Line. Although there is the high end Tysons Galleria next door, Tyson’s Corner Center is where it’s at. .. stores reaching the gamut of Apple, Microsoft, Zara, Banana Republic as well as restaurants such as American Tandoor, Coastal Flats, and recent additions such as Shilla’s bakery make this mall the one stop shopping center.
If I lived closer to Tyson’s corner, I’d be going here all the time instead of Pentagon City Mall.
TIP: currently, there’s a skating rink in the newest mall extension connecting the mall to the silver line. The skating rink is busy on winter weekends as you would expect.
TIP 2: Best place to find parking is near Barnes and Noble as opposed to parking near Nordstrom or Lord & Taylor.

It’s a mall.
One of the nicer ones in VA. Whenever we have family visiting from out of town and they want to go shopping, this is usually where we take them. They have a bunch of restaurants inside and around the mall, movie theatre, and a variety of stores. There is a cute children’s play area near the top floor food court.

I stopped in here while visiting for work and to be totally honest with you I only stopped in here for two reasons, to check out the Tesla dealership and grab a bite to eat at Shake Shack.
This is a larger mall located right off the metro line, however the parking lot is not for metro riders. I parked in the garage and walked across the mall and found a wide variety of stores you would expect. The mall itself was clean with wide walkways throughout the facility, I will say that getting to Shake Shack from inside the mall lead me down a hallway which made me double check my directions, however I finally made it.
Overall it appears to be a decent mall with a wide selection or retails shops that would be perfect for some shipping, and even buying a car. And in case you are wondering I didn’t end up leaving with the Tesla, lol.

My my this place has changed a lot from a few years ago. Not being from the area, I think I have a greater appreciation for this place. I love that there’s a metro station now connected to the place so you have more options on how to get here and save with the headache of finding a parking spot. Speaking of parking, if you go to the garage — they have these lights that tell you whether a spot is taken or not. Pretty nifty and I don’t have to guess if a car is in a spot or it’s just to small for me to tell. Otherwise, this mall has a bunch of shops to choose from fanciness and all. There are also a lot of food choices to pick from whether it is fast food or fine dining. The place has a lot to offer so long as you deal with the crowds that come with it.

Tysons Corner Center management and the area developers should be happy! They’ve got the metro working dragging the crap in from everywhere, add the narcissistic mothers stroller workout group running around all over the mall… about 2 dozen at a time… and they jog 2 or 3 abreast. If you don’t jump out of their way they will run into you. I know. I’ve had to jump to safety twice! No more. I’ll find somewhere else, shop online, or make trips to shop. Realtors and developers could care less about customers as long as they can cram a rental space into every square foot. And thanks to the state for the traffic fiasco! They did about as much for the Tysons area as they did for the I66−495 interchange.

Great for parking a little on the racist side when it comes to customers. It’s not just the mall its self but the patrons that live in the area are scared of black people. Just because I pick up something doesn’t mean I’m going to steal it. When you see me coming towards you don’t as if I’m coming to pick pocket you. Moral of this is can’t shop where my kind is not wanted! But the item here are what I would buy.

The best mall in the DMV area. This mall has everything! It’s huge! This is my favorite mall to go to when I visit the DC area. A lot of high end stores that women love. It also has a AMC theater inside.

This is the best mall in metro DC area. It is clean and upscale. I especially like the new parking system, it is very easy to see a vacant spot from a distance because of the the little green/​red light over each parking spot. And at the entrance of each parking lot, it also display the number of vacant spots.
The mall has many great stores, such as Brooks Brothers, LL Bean, etc. You almost don’t have to go anywhere else. No wonder that Steve Jobs chose Tysons to open the first Apple Store in the world.

There are a number of reasons why Tysons Corner Center gets on my nerves:
KIOSKS — Nothing says classy like the kiosk guys barking at you to buy cheap perfume or to get a vape pen, not to mention they clog the walkways making the place feel even more jam-​packed with wall-​to-​wall people.
ESCALATORS — This is my #1 irritant. The mall was designed with very few escalators, often forcing you to go into a department store to get from floor-​to-​floor. I’m sure this was done to increase foot traffic into the department stores, but it’s seriously annoying when you’re just trying to go downstairs. There are too few elevators as well.
LAYOUT — It’s a massive «L» shape, so plan your shopping strategically. It feels like a mile end-​to-​end.
RENOVATIONS — This is one of the top-​grossing malls in America, yet I’ve seen holes in the ceiling where they are doing repairs. Come on folks, put up a temporary cover. There’s still a huge lack of seating, and I think they do a pretty poor job keeping the mall area clean on busy days. Signage outside can either be absent, or straight from the 80s. At a mall of this caliber, I don’t expect to see any peeling paint, yet every time, I see plenty of peeling paint.
VIDEO GAMES — There are now huge video game displays where running, screaming kids congregate to try out the newest products. Real nice.
RUDE PEOPLE — People walk through the doors and the words «excuse me» disappear from their vocabulary. Lots of pushing and walking into people without much care.
MACY’s — It’s a dump here. Merchandise thrown everywhere, garbage not picked-​up, and clueless staff who don’t know anything about the products they sell.
PARKING — Yes, the parking issues are legendary here. One of the biggest problems is the traffic flow from the surrounding streets. Getting into the parking from the street makes no sense, and there’s never enough signage to figure out which way you should go.

We were in from Charleston for a soccer tournament and drive in to try this place out.
I’m giving a 4 star because we went with the buffet for lunch. Had we ordered off the menu, it may have been 5. Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Perfect lunch!

This is prime mall that grown and evolved a lot over the years to its current mecaish status. When I come here it is with a particular purpose, either visiting a store or meeting folks for drinks or a meal. My primary spots are B&N, Microsoft, Panera, Seasons 52, GB, LOFT, L&T, LEGO, etc. I’m sure there are a lot of other locations I would visit but the crowds are a little over the top for my tastes and I would rather shop for clothes in less packed locations (which can often be better stocked). A few months back I found myself here wondering around with a couple of friends after a nice Friday night dinner and I was a little surprised at how many folks seemed to hanging at the mall including a lot families. But I guess if it makes you happy it can’t be that bad…
When I go to Tysons it is usually for a particular purpose, to get something or to meet someone (often my hubby) but I appreciate that a lot of folks seem to enjoy spending time hanging around. If I was going to hang around here I would probably explore the outdoor deck area a little more and imagine I will eventually try a few more of the restaurants but I can guarantee you will you find me here Xmas Eve night. God protect you if you are at Tysons Corner Center that night…

Tyson’s Corner is definitely as good as it gets for malls in this area. They have every store you can think of and every downfall that typically plagues a mall (not enough restaurants, not enough parking, not enough ways in and out, bad traffic flow, etc.) has been addressed by the developers before they could become an issue with it’s (still sort of recent) massive expansion.
I may avoid it around the holidays, and you might want to also… but it is definitely a fantastic model of American capitalism at it’s finest. If you like to shop, you will enjoy your time spent here.

Negative thoughts…
It is hard to find a parking spot near the stores first. It’s hard to walk because many people and small kids walking carelessly. It’s hard to get seats and eat. You see many kinds of shops and people, which never make you bored but tired.
Positive thoughts…
Free parking! They have many stores. You can find something you want. You have to walk a lot to check it out, which is a good exercise.

Whaaaat, how have I not reviewed Tysons yet?
Well, first off, I’m speaking as someone who remembers Tysons Corner as it was many a-​year ago, back when there was no AMC, no Coastal Flats, not even a CPK. No, back when I was but a young buck, the movie theatre was a run-​down old Odeon hidden somewhere behind the Tiffany’s across the street, and the best restaurant that Tysons had to offer was the Rainforest Café (anybody remember those?)
But now, oh man. These days, Tysons is an entirely new beast! A cluster of diverse sit-​down restaurants — Coastal Flats, Gordon Biersch, La Sandia, Seasons 52 — as well as not one, but two different food court areas, a great movie theatre (with advanced seating), and the newest addition to this mega-​mall: the Plaza.
The Plaza is an outdoor space that connects to the second floor of Tysons. It houses a Shake Shack, Barrel & Bushel, the Hyatt Regency, a steakhouse, and a whole bunch of upcoming businesses. It also is, I believe, a direct connection to the Tysons Corner Metro stop, but don’t quote me on that because I haven’t even ridden on the Silver Line yet, heh.
People come from all over the state — even out of state! — to wander Tysons Corner’s hallowed halls, so bear in mind how lucky we are to have such a vast assortment of shopping, dining, and entertainment right at our doorstep. Of course, like any true blue Northern Virginian, you’ll also probably want to curse it every year between the dates of, oh, I dunno, like November 26^th and December 24^th? But hey, just avoid Route 7 basically the entire time between Black Friday and Christmas and you should be fine.

Tyson’s Corner is a world-​class shopping destination. Forget about Bangkok, Dubai, or even The Mall of America. Mecca for shoppers both high-​end and bargain-​seekers is right here in northern Virginia. It helps that the United States is the worlds biggest marketplace with the biggest choice. Every enterprise in – just name– any country would like a piece of the American commercial base. Our supply lines are diverse, and we have a constant inflow (think trade imbalance with China!). Clothing and electronics, the two big consumer items, are priced cheaper to sell than in most countries. American stores are constantly having sales to push products out the door and gain profits by volume rather than high pricing. Who benefits? The shopper! Even if you only shop occasionally you can delight in bargains and are spoiled for choice. No wonder shopping is a serious hobby here.
The four anchor department stores around which the mall was established include Lord and Taylor, Macy’s, Nordstroms, and Bloomingdales. This mall has an entire wing with cool restaurants, AMC movie theaters and a Barnes and Noble book store. Since the mall has incredible draw and popularity even in the age of the Internet, you can find hundreds of other retailers and booths: H&M, The Gap, The Body Shop, Apple, L.L. Bean, Ann Taylor, Jos A. Banks, J. Jill, and so forth. There are spa services, eateries, and numerous other ways to dispense of your hard earned cash.
Tysons has a concierge service where you can drop off your shopping and they will deliver same day to your hotel or home in multiple zipcodes in northern Virginia. We are so spoiled, and it makes my day. They will also help you with shopping tips and get you cabs.
The parking areas are newly revamped so there is ample space near where you intend to shop. Always plan ahead to go to the parking wing near the shops you need, for example, I always come in near the Lord and Taylor store. The lighting system (red and green above each spot) indicates how many free spots there are so you can tell by a quick glance down the aisle. At garage entrances, electronic boards display the parking capacity remaining in that wing. Across the skywalk over Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), you can access the silver metro line to the airport or to the city. I’ve never taken metro to the mall, it looks like a long walk across those 4 lane suburban highways/​roads, and not a pleasant walk either– even if it is over top.
The vibe at this mall is bustling and international. This is a must-​visit spot in the DC region. If you are going, you’ll probably want to hop over to Tysons II Galleria, which has the really high-​end stores Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. It’s really ‘across the street’, but given the massive scale of suburban roads and the tall imposing concrete walls along the way, it’s not a pleasant walk. You’ll find hardly any pedestrians alongside the roads, just vast volumes of traffic, so you can always just drive or cab over. But I digress. If you like needless markups, go on over to Tysons II Galleria. The regular Tysons with the regular department stores more than satisfies most life needs for clothes/​speciality items/​gifts.
Beware of crowds on holidays. I take this Mall in manageable two-​hour bites, and plan to come back another time.

This place is huge. I don’t think I have even covered half of it on foot. It has a ton of variety. You will find many of your favorite shops here. The parking is by far my favorite thing about this place. Each parking spot has a light above it that is green or red (empty or occupied). It is the most genius invention! I just look down one aisle, find the green and drive to it!
The mall needs more bathrooms. I wish the bathrooms here were as clean and posh as the galleria across the street.
The main reason I gave them four stars and not five is because of the bathrooms being limited and not always clean as well as how busy this mall is on the weekends and evenings during the week. In addition, they need cops or security watching these crazy drivers on the road around the mall because it is not very safe for pedestrians.
There are restaurants here too so don’t be shy and come on by!
This mall is definitely worth a visit.

Big A$$ mall, so big they had to split it into 2! Yes, they were a bit mean placing all of the high end nice stores in Tysons II (aka) The Galleria (I know, even the name is fancy) such as Gucci, Armani, Tori Burch, etc. howeverrrrr there’s still a Macy’s in there :) so people, please stop feeling so intimidated to walk in there! & snobs of The Galleria please stop making Tysons I guests feel unwelcomed!
Okay… Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest!
You should totally check out both malls if you’re visiting the area and if you’ve been living here and hiding under a rock PLEASE pay this «My Size Dream House» a visit!

I hadn’t been here in several months and the website and parking facilities have received some shiny new upgrades as of January 2015.
As usual, I looked up the website on my phone before driving over to look up the store directory/​map and match it to the closest parking garage. For H&M, it told me to park in Garage E, but the parking map, at least on the mobile site, was nowhere to be found. Wishing hardcore I’d saved that before. With a mall with stores around it and some things connected, I’d like to know street names and intersections to guide me to the right garage, beyond just searching for the letter signs.
I saw some information about new garage features including those gates that you usually take a ticket out of… though I don’t know their purpose since parking is free, unless it’s completely to stop new people from coming in when it’s 100% full? I also read about the lights. Okay, *this* I was excited about. You won’t fool me again, motorcycle or smart car! I could glance around quickly and see almost completely red on the first floor, so I just zipped on up to the second floor where there was lots of green at 11 am on a Saturday. I uploaded a photo, but some other people have much better shots of this than I did.
If you park in the right spot, navigating and getting to where you wanna go is really not too bad. It’s a very large mall and you can easily get your dogs barking if you want to, though. There are some nicer, sit-​down restaurants with waiter service, some food court options on the top floor, several hair and nail salonds, and a movie theater, to boot. (Wouldn’t particularly recommend the sushi train restaurant, though!) There’ sa bus stop right outside convenient to the Dunn-​Loring/​Merrifield area, (and others) and it’s also accessible from the Silver Line!
However, I am *still* confused at the difference between Tysons Corner Center, Tyson’s Galleria, maybe Tyson’s Galleria II? I need a venn diagram.

A shopper’s paradise, but come prepared with comfy shoes and a lot of patience — you’ll definitely get your 10,000 daily steps in here and the crowds (no matter the time of day) might make you crazy.
Anchor stores Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and the tucked-​away Lord & Taylor offer lots of different price-​points and styles, and the mall is home to few-​and-​far between outposts of LL Bean, Hanna Andersson, Vera Bradley, Lego and many more.
Tons of restaurants are on-​hand, including a food court on the third floor, near the theater.
