Specialties
The Stand is the restaurant that emerges when the mouth-watering tastes of a big-city hot dog joint meet culinary creativity, cleanliness, Southern hospitality, and the character of an historic east Texas facility.
Our menu includes classic hot dogs, bratwursts, polish sausages, hot links, spicy boudin, andouille, and more. Enjoy any of our dogs topped with chili, cheese, grilled onions, macaroni and cheese, frito pie, ask for it Chicago style, etc.
History
Established in 2012.
From TylerPaper.com:
About eight or nine years ago, Stephan Du Toit ran the hot dog stand for Lowe’s in Tyler. «That’s where I fell in love with the food and the business,» he said. Du Toit made hot dogs for Lowe’s for almost four years…, but he always kept the idea of having his own hot dog stand in the back of his mind, so when he found the right place, he went for it.
Du Toit said the small 500-square-foot building. .. is believed to be one of the first three buildings in Gresham. It took Du Toit about a month and a half to do all of the renovations himself. He painted the bathroom doors chalkboard so children could draw something new each week. The restaurant has simple décor, with framed T-shirts advertising the business decorating the walls and a few tables to seat about 15 people inside. It also has tables with umbrellas to seat another 15 customers on the outdoor patio and a drive-thru. Du Toit dressed up the outside of the small building with fresh paint and red trim.
