History

Established in 1981.

The Potpourri House opened in 1982 as a tea room in a 1904 Victorian home complete with authentic European furnishings. After three moves and 30+ years, the Potpourri House is now Tyler’s premier restaurant, boutique, gift shop, and event venue.

The Ellsworth family started the Potpourri House in 1981 in a Victorian House on Front Street. Prior to that my father was an Special Agent and was the one who found were Lee Harvey Oswald Shot Kennedy from in the Book Depository. We have grown and moved three times to our current location. We have 3 private dining areas. We host business lunches to Weddings. We seat 270 people, with live music Thursday through Saturdays. We have an extensive collection of Pandora Jewelry, Gifts and a large Boutique to shop from after your meal. We have been covered in Southern Living, Texas Monthly and The Dallas Morning News Travel Section just to mention a few. Come enjoy one of the true Home town treasures Texas has to offer.
