Inspiration awaits beyond the lavender gate of Dory’s Gardens. At this unusual urban and artsy outdoor design and resource center, you will find a variety of garden plants and pottery, handcrafted yard ornaments, tools, garden attire and lotions, tea, eclectic containers, succulents and more. There is always something new blooming! The charming «alleyway» landscaped with fountains flowing creates an atmosphere of a «secret garden» where you can sit and visit. Custom live floral arrangements are put together on the spot for a perfect gift. Personalized service and gardening advice are offered to complete a unique shopping experience.

History

Established in 2012.

As a landscape designer, Dory envisioned a garden shop to complement her business. An open-aired, weed filled alleyway was transformed into an umbrella and tree shaded «secret garden» filled with plants, pottery and outdoor art and accents. Favorite products and tools that enhance the joy of gardening were added. Gift items for non-gardeners and repurposed items continued to fill up the displays throughout. Then handcrafted pieces by various artisans were offered for sale and the theme of an inspirational outdoor design and resource center began to develop. The colorful «morse code» patio became a place for friends/clients to enjoy a cup of coffee or lunch. Feeding the goldfish in the fountain area has become a draw to the neighborhood children. Networking with nearby businesses, Brick Street Village was formed with banners and signage designating our unique shopping district. Special events and «First Fridays» of every month offer sales and demos in participating shops. More to come!

Meet the Business Owner

Dory H.

Business Owner

Dory has a passion for plants, the outdoors and is an artist by nature. This combination has developed into a career of landscape consultation, design and installation. She considers flowers as living art and approaches the garden as a pallet. Other interests and ideas have spurred her into stepping out and opening a second complimentary business with Dory’s Gardens. This provides an outlet for selling her photography, ceramic art, garden clothing and jewelry, fountain art, metal petals, container gardens, birdseed ornaments and calendars. She loves to meet new people and invite them to share her garden and exchange ideas and info over a cup of coffee.
