Really liked the BBQ sandwich and the pecan pie was really good. Everyone here makes you feel welcome and service was great.

Good, generic BBQ. Tonight they were out of ribs, at 7:30. Had chopped beef and hot links instead. I don’t like their BBQ very much, but the meat was good. The beans are tasty. Potato salad was ok. Not the best BBQ, but good.

Best BBQ ever– we always stop here driving through Texas! Not much for atmosphere but the food made up for it.

Staff was friendly and helpful, however the food left much to be desired. I had pulled pork with beans. The pork was not exceptional and the sauce seemed watered down(only one kind). The beans were just plain beans, no spices. Overall eatible but not fabulous.

Born and raised in Tyler this is one of the local’s favorite BBQ joints. I now live in Dallas but visit Bodacious every time I’m in Tyler. I always get their chopped beef. The sauce is fantastic as well as their jalapeño pickles they offer. Also, they have a BEST sweet tea in town. Prepared daily.

Very bland. Pulled pork had zero flavor and the choice of one sauce did not help. Hot links had tough skin like they had been boiled. There 2 hours before closing and they already had chairs stacked for the night. Not recommended.

So disappointing. Meal consisted of rubbery, flavorless meat and what they call«vegetables»: potatoes covered in mayonnaise and beans drowned in oil(both of which were also flavorless).

Went here at the suggestion of a friend whom I can normally trust. This place defines«meh». Being a Kansas City boy, I expected better barbecue in Texas. Portions were fairly small for a BBQ restaurant, beans were bland, ribs had a sweet rub and the sausage was nothing to get excited over. If you’re looking for barbecue, go to Stanley’s.

I went here at 3pm. There were two people ahead of me. The bbq sauce was good. The ribs were a little dry, definitely NOT falling off the bone. They were not tough; just not flavorful. I don’t know what the heck they use for mayonnaise but the potato salad was the worst I’ve ever eaten and they used the same base for their cole slaw. The cabbage was very tender so if they had used some halfway decent mayonnaise it would have been good. I think Stanley’s BBQ being a mile up the street has really hurt Bodacious. I paid $ 32 takeout for one rack of ribs, a pint of cole slaw and pint of potato salad and have no desire to go back. If all you care about is atmosphere it is decorated rustic and attractively. I went to Stanley’s first but they had sold out of all their food!

When asked for moist, fatty sliced brisket, we got dry sandwich grade stuff. No crust, no flavor, no smoke: cardboard-stiff beef that required a healthy slathering of their sweet and tangy bbq sauce. Good thing the sauce was to our liking or we would have tossed this to our pups. Sausage had a super-fine mushy grind, typical of commercial grade stuff which was more palatable to canines to humans. The sides of pickles, onions and peppers we packed with our meal were nearly frozen, since the condiment stand was buried in ice. Potato salad tasted like it had a Miracle Whip base, so if you’re in the opposite camp, then consider this throwaway food. The second of three side items offered at Bodacious – cole slaw – also failed to impress. I think the young men manning the counter could use a bit more training on both their customer service and bbq jargon, since it was apparent that they had no clue what or how to serve up a decent meal. Not all bbq comes stuck between two buns.

BBQ is good, but value for your dollar is terrible… ribs are short & undercooked, sausage is cheap store bought stuff, probably Ekrich. Pulled pork is not pulled pork, it’s chopped cuts leftover from rib trimmings. The beans were tough, cooked wrong. The potato salad was good, so was the lemon pie. Overall. a bad deal. Mediocre bar-b-q and small portions at inflated prices.

Good BBQ… I just didn’t think all that much about the sides. Beans bland, no fries, potato salad was ok…

I ate here once when I moved to Tyler 2 years ago. I found the food bland, and no BBQ chicken options. For my first time eating there I found the menu a little confusing, staff no help. Food was way over priced for what I got. Will not eat there again.

Local BBQ spot trying to capture the local flavor. This stripmall store is an average place to get okay BBQ. I had the brisket sandwhich which was a little lite on the meat. The slaw was very good and the beans were not particularly flavorful. Compared to the gas station BBQ joint called Rudy’s, this is average at best. Nice staff, friendly and the place is clean.

This is my first time to Tyler, TX and my boss recommended Bodacious BBQ, so I gave it a try. First, very cute country boyz working there and very friendly… even with 30 mins left till they close. I ordered the $ 10.95 combo plate and the meat was soooooo tender… the BBQ sauce was so good, I could practically drink it. I got a side of potato salad and beans. I’m not really a «bean-eater» but they were good… the potato salad was yucky, I only took one bite. Otherwise, I inhaled the meat! I just wish they offered SPICY sauce, but they don’t. Must try!
